    Just a tip man, you can sharpen drill bits instead of buying new ones. And if you use cutting fluid I guarantee you won’t have to sharpen that bit after drilling a couple hundred holes in aluminum because it’s so soft and the holes aren’t very big. Just don’t burn it up.

    • @SendItJonBoats
      @SendItJonBoats  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good point, I have a drill bit sharpener, I just buy like 5 bits, use them till they are dull, and re sharpen all at once. Most folks dont though which is why I said go buy a bunch.

    Another option for the bungee cord would be a stainless steel machine screw and wing nut. Would be easy to latch down more securely (stronger than a bungee) but still easily removable on demand, including while on the water. Maybe use those custom L brackets on the bottom to attach too.

    Hey Jon Boats - nice work. Really like this kinda stuff.
    Question - why use all rivets and kits - What about TIG welding Al plate instead?

    • @SendItJonBoats

      Not everybody has or can tig weld... this boat was to show people what you can do with rivets.

    I noticed halfway through the video u switched from Milwaukee to harbor freight Bauer brand in your opinion how did they hold up

    • @SendItJonBoats
      @SendItJonBoats  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Milwaukee is my buddies stuff since he was letting me borrow his shop because it was cold out. My stuff is all Bauer and I love it. I came from an older Porter Cable 18v system and I could not be happier with the Bauer so far. I have just about all the tools I need, just want a few more batteries. The 5ah batteries are awesome. I don't see any reason to buy Milwaukee or anything else the HF stuff works great, and if I break it it does not cost much to replace.

    Bought a 1436 and want to do very similar project. The boat does need a set of new paint. Should I paint the interior first and then start building the frames for the deck etc.? And should I build the floor afterwards?

    • @SendItJonBoats
      @SendItJonBoats  ปีที่แล้ว

      I painted this one first, and I wish I wouldn't have. I would recommend building first, then painting after.

    How does the water drain off your subfloor to the drain plug? Did you add drains in the floor?

    • @SendItJonBoats
      @SendItJonBoats  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The sides of the floor do not go all the way to the sides of the boat so there is a good sized gap there for water to flow down under the subfloor

    How do you go about putting drainage in a boat like this. Incase you want to wash the inside or you get caught in the rain?
    I'm starting a similar build

    • @SendItJonBoats
      @SendItJonBoats  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I didn't put any drainage in. I wash it, pull the drain plug, and let it all run out the back.
