The kid that used to work for me would always get everyone on every job site calling me Ron Swanson, but I had never watched this show until recently, so I never understood why. I would have to be the bearded version of Ron. Same diet, pretty much the same skill sets, mostly similar beliefs, just maybe not quite as strict as Ron, and that would definitely be my dream job at the end. I guess I understand now.
It's honestly a huge compliment. Ron is a character with many qualities, from being a great human being to a great friend. He has his flaws like anyone else, but he is a loyal and sincere person.

Forgive my emotional comment but P & R is quite possibly the most wonderful comedy I've ever been privileged in my 60 years to experience. A true gem of writing and casting. Thank you for what you created.

And of course, Ron Swanson, the best straight man ever to grace a US sit com.
22:46 okay but this actually flew over my head the first time I watched it 😂 the transition was so seamless, the way they continue Chris's laugh into the restaurant scene (which distracts us from the change in background noise) and starting close up on Ron's face so we don't notice the environment until the camera pulls out. Chris goes "we should order" and most people would be like "hm? order? weren't they at the government building?" but then they have Chris continue on about his order and we as an immersed audience try to focus on the details of the order instead of the transition. and it's not until Ron gives the play by play that people go "oh what?" and replay the scene, realizing what just happened (it still took me watching this compilation to figure it out 😭) what an incredible gag, I wanna know who came up with it
Ron's government lesson was one of the best, most accurate practical lessons I've ever seen. Not sure about his land mine gift at the end there, but his request for an autograph is an absolute legend. I love that man. hahaha
