I will always adore that moment at 18:12 where Leslie hears the results of the recount. Just a still shot on Amy Poehler's face as she reacts to the news, hanging her head when she thinks it's a loss, then just a smile when she hears she did it. And then she starts shaking her head as it sinks in, and she recognizes Ann's trickery. It's a masterful directing choice, god this show was amazing. That moment alone was its second peak, and then it just kept having so many more.
It is a great scene. It's just sad that the show was marred by pRegressive nonsense like supporting barrack hussein obama, the child bomber, and #PedoJoe, all over the place. They definitely pushed in their pRegressive agenda later on, which was sad. But the heart of the show is fantastic.
I binge-watched this show while working on a congressional campaign, it kept me motivated while dealing with many apathetic people. Honestly, this compilation helps me feel more motivated again.
One of the best tv comedies ever produced. I don’t know what the light bulb moment was in season 2 but the writers deserve so much credit for changing Leslie’s character and adding Ben and Chris. Thank god they got rid of Mark!
@@Xxsorafan In the earlier seasons she's noticeably 'ditzy'. In the middle seasons she becomes a lot more aware and it generally just written with more common sense as it were.
Rob Lowe also just nails that character. There are moments in that arc when he needs to be serious, and he just nails it. The viewer never questions whether he loves Leslie and Ben more than he loves his position. He loves them equally and his actions reflect that. I've seen so many other shows that have characters act in irrational ways when their consideration of two moral principles are challenged, but this show walked that line really well here.
@@maryannclementiii-uw5pkI remember thinking “what a great character!” during this particular time in the series. You can tell he’s not malicious, he just has integrity.
I'm going to say something weirdly both optimistic and pessimistic at the same time. There are far more Leslie knopes than people know about, yet we all know that those people are sued, investigated, defamed and ultimately.... Give up. While Leslie's indomitable will is magnetic and infectious on screen, as someone embodies the phrase "inside of every cynic, there's a disappointed idealist", I know more than most that the system is crushing regular people in far more ways than the average person could ever discover, and I know that I could easily double that number if I cared enough to dig deeper. And that's not even mentioning the things above my pay grade, the ways people are being screwed that I couldn't even know of. We need more than a few Leslie knopes, someone willing to guide a flawed system to being a little less flawed, we need a lot of people willing to build an entirely different system.
I love Ben just popping up in back after Leslie called him a brilliant, sexy little hummingbird.😂 Also, I can feel sympathy frustration for Leslie during that debate with all the candidates.😓

My husband compares me to Leslie Knope any time we watch it. It makes me so happy 🥹. I genuinly adore her and think she is one of the best fictional characters ever created.
calling this "failing upwards" is outrageous seeing as Leslie is the hardest working person in the world and she did not fail, she absolutely succeeded in everything she ever put her mind to
Yeah I think it’s clickbait because Leslie is specifically the opposite of that trope lol. The whole point of her character is that she’s so tenacious AND capable that she manages to climb the political ladder with genuine intentions, which is nigh on impossible
No, its correct, because in the process, she had an innumerable amount of collective failures from PR blunders to logistical oversights. The end result often worked out in her favor. Primarily because the protagonist normally has a haply ending, but also because there is a level of truth to failing upward in government, especially if you know anything about the history of American government and the nature of bureaucracies.

A politician with Leslie's enthusiasm and Ron's general political philosophy (ie smallest government possible with as little influence on people's daily life and liberty) would make for an absolutely amazing politician.
When you meet someone better than yourself, turn your thoughts to becoming his equal. When you meet someone not as good as you are, look within and examine your own self.
