I tried your recipe about 5 years ago for Thanksgiving and everyone loved the greens! Been using it ever since 😊 I'm one of the ones that wasn't listening when grandma was teaching 🥴 so I thank you for your recipes!
FOLLOWING YOUR RECIPE...THESE ARE THE BEST COLLARD GREENS THAT I HAVE EVER MADE...THE JUICE FROM THE GREENS IS LIKE I'M EATING COLLARD GREEN SOUP...LIKE YOU SAID I CAN EAT THIS ALLLLLLLLLL DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!... THANK YOU SOOOOOOOO MUCH FOR THIS INFO...
This my first time cooking collard greens.I love to eat them but never cooked them. I'm 64 and learning how to cook like my ancestors, better late then never. GREAT VIDEO, I used some of your ingredients Thanks
Literally finished watching this and was thinking about grandma barb, saw the video you posted back in April and realizing that you post she passed away a few hrs ago so sorry to hear. Prayers to your family.
Aww my sincere condolences sis. So sorry. 🌷 I lost my beloved in the 90's but severely miss her every single day, but keep her memories alive. She was my rock and my heart. Taught me how to cook and just about everything. 💔
😍😍😍This is the EXACT way I cook mine. My family love the red pepper flakes in collard greens. Like you said once you use chicken broth, you'll never go back to water👏🏾
Reminds me of me a a young girl. My dad had to eat when he got home from work, I was 11 years old. Still at it today. Your do a great job. Keep up the good work.
Thank you Diva!! I first made your poundcake recipe. I never was the “cook” in the family and moved to another state. But now, because of you I can cook girl. These greens are sooooo good. I’ve made them countless times. I really appreciate these videos and recipes
I made this recipe earlier this week and it was my first time making greens. They can out perfect. Thank you🥰😍. Now, I can make them whenever I want them.
Beautiful job! I usually cut mine in ribbons and then wash them. When they are smaller, you really can get in between there and get out the dirt and sand. It does make it harder to retrieve them from the water but so much dirt is in the bottom of the sink.
I just made my collards I throw all my ingredients in the pot. I pro-boil my smoked Turkey necks, while they are cooking I wash and prep my greens. I clean them in the sink a good four times to make sure there's no grit or dirt. I do just like you when it comes to cutting them, I ripped them and then put them in the pro-boil with the smoke Turkey. I cut half an onion, a little tenderizers, I don't have to use salt if I used unseasoned tenderizer, butter, sugar, chicken grease, from fried chicken, vinegar, onion powder, garlic powder, put the lid on and just them them cook for an hour, hour 1/2 and make my cornbread, and viola!! I can eat greens every week. Love your video!!!
I made these and they are the best collards ever! Everyone else agrees too and I've served these to people in the south and in the north and they all love them. Thank you so much for this video. I have shared it many times.
Brings back so many fond memories of my own granny who grew collard greens and herbs in her backyard and prepared this recipe with turkey necks. She and my grandfather loved eating this meal with cornbread, black-eyed peas, and a glass of buttermilk. Thank you for the nostalgia this video brought to me.
I like her recipes..she gets right to the point...sometimes I don't have patience (pray for me) & I pass a lot of stuff to get to the food part...I understand we all have a life but I can't take 25 to 30 mins or more for something that only takes 5 to 10 mins let's be real 🤷🏾♀🤷🏾♀🤷🏾♀..
I think it might do you good to count your blessings. Many people only dream about having the kind of cushy life that affords them the nerve to complain about such 1st world problems as how long a recipe video takes. I personally enjoy the length and wouldn't mind if it were longer but if I did mind, I'd just hush about it.
I made these for the first time over a year ago and they came out delicious, the flavor! Making some this week, can't wait! Thank you again for your wonderful instruction.
I just cooked some greens (collards and mustards) 2 days ago, summer ain't gonna get in my way.😂😂 Had the air conditioner blowing in the background, guess I'm just crazy like that.
These look delicious! I'm from Michigan and never had greens until yesterday in NC. I'm trying to better my diet and will be making these. Thank you for your video showing how easy these are to make.
Looks sooooooo delicious lol I so want the pot to fall out of the screen. Born and raised in India, but love southern food. I will def try this recipe. Tfs
My mom had this video playing on her ipad in her kitchen. She was following it step by step. I walked in and told her I'd been watching your videos for years. Thank-you for sharing this recipe, it was delicious! 😋😋😋
Made this last night and served along with squash 'n onions and fried okra!! Yum Yum!!! Hubby was loving it!! This thoroughly southern and eastern NC girl never cared much for collards and wouldn't eat turnip greens at all!!! That was before I discovered Diva's Can Cook!!! Now your way is my way for cooking greens!!! What a blessing you are!!!
The pot liquor as our Southern ancestors called it 😊, is good for colds and sore throats y'all. So remember that this Fall and Winter. Wherever I get sick like that, I fix me some greens and drink that pot liquor by the glass full, and I'm good to go in a day or two! 😎 It's like a toxin remover.
Excellent recipe! Very traditional preparation. I’m hoping to make a mess of greens today if the collards look good. Unfortunately I have to get mine from the grocery store. I really need to plant some!
My husband is making this tonight! I've never had collard greens in my life! I was really happy you used turkey as I don't eat pork either. 😬I can't wait! Thank you for the recipe!
I have been watching you for YEEEEAAARS! I followed several of your recipes and an old one of this recipe, I became so addicted to collard greens because of your old recipe! Now I look for every opportunity to make a huge batch any chance I get. I hope this one is just as good as the old one! 😋😋😋
I'm so glad you put this recipe up, some people don't remove the stems they just cut the greens and I just hate that! Also my mother turkey wings or turkey legs a little bit of cracked pepper sometimes she'll put a whole jalapeno pepper in the greens and keep it whole so that it flavors the greens but they're not burning hot. I love hot water cornbread with my greens For some reason I can't eat pan cornbread with greens I can eat them with beans but not greens I know that's weird but that's how I am.
Hey beautiful, talented lady!! We are already into the Thanksgiving month and I'm so looking forward to seeing what all you are going to be cooking up. Thank you so much for sharing your delicious recipes with us.
Made these today for my mom. Have been making collards for her for some years, but personally wasn’t a fan. I ate them up tonight. Thanks for the recipe and the broth advice. Just subscribed.
My first ever pot of greens was from your recipe years ago. I've adapted it in the last few years to use my InstantPot but it's still very much from this recipe. Turkey leg (or wing) and all!
I made this last week for Thanksgiving. It was a hit! Loved it so muck making it again today! Love me some “pot liquor” 😂 but seriously thx for posting this 🙌🏽Followed for future reference✌🏽👍🏽👏🏽
My grandma taught me to put salt in the water to help remove the grit and dirt. Then she layered and cut her collards. Seasoned with smoked neck bones.

Aww my sincere condolences sis. So sorry. 🌷 I lost my beloved in the 90's but severely miss her every single day, but keep her memories alive. She was my rock and my heart. Taught me how to cook and just about everything. 💔
Great video! Another reason to use vinegar to clean any greens is that it tenderizes thick greens and helps to remove bitterness.
Great tip!
😍😍😍This is the EXACT way I cook mine. My family love the red pepper flakes in collard greens. Like you said once you use chicken broth, you'll never go back to water👏🏾
Will the red pepper flakes make them spicy?
I’m gonna try the chicken broth this yr 2024 thanksgiving
Thank you for being my black auntie!! No one in my family knows how to cook collard greens ❤
Reminds me of me a a young girl. My dad had to eat when he got home from work, I was 11 years old. Still at it today. Your do a great job. Keep up the good work.
