Actually shoto have a worst past , shoto was abused and overworked for 10 years , and he didn't even got the chance to play even once with his siblings (because dabi tried to kill him when he was a baby ) , dabi wanted the attention of his father but he was neglected like the others , and it hurted him really bad when he realized that he was considered as a failed test , and he overworked himself even if his parents tried to stop him and actually cared about his body (unlike shoto who's overworked since he's 5 )
I feel like Dabi could’ve had a better future if Endeavor had more faith in him training him in how he can be more precise with using his fire limiting the amount his body was on fire, like only using his finger tips.

He also inherited Enji's insanity, not helped by Rei own fragile mental state. It soon became a cycle of insanity; Enji's actions and behavior made both Toya and Rei more and more insane (with Rei's passiveness making it even worse for Toya), while Toya's actions and behavior drove Enji and Rei further and further insane. (Of course the stress of the situation eventually made Rei finally crack after years of this.) Add in the increasingly insane Enji physically abusing Rei, Shoto and Toya (and mentally abusing everyone in the family - including - in a sense - himself), and that's why the Todoroki's was called a "Hellish Family"!!!!

@SleepyWolf The war arc maybe should have come when they were like second years since that would have given them 4 extra months + some more time in 2nd year. I liked Deku when he was an underdog but the way he just has improved with fa jin instantly and can use 100% with no drawback just makes him less appealing.
He can create extreme heat & fire but his body is only resistant to cold... man, if only this kid had been born someplace way up north where it snows all the time. Under different circumstances, Touya’s mismatched quirk abilities would’ve been an asset instead of a liability - he could save people from freezing to death without any risk that he’d suffer that fate himself. But the circumstances weren’t perfect. Endeavor couldn’t be bothered to accept anything less than “perfection” let alone take the time to think & work around his imperfect kid’s weak points to help him reach his true potential (ya know, like an *actual parent*). And so instead of a unique hero or a stable member of society, Touya grew into a raging monster. It’s a tragic waste.
Touya or Dabi is one of the most appealing characters I have to say in BNHA because his backstory is so interesting and quite brainstorming. It gives so many discourse because Touya actually gave a realistic response of a child that went through neglect. Young children especially will not able to show their dislike towards their abuser freely like we adult because their parents are the people that they depend their life on and because their brain has not develop enough. Neglected child will naturally try their best to gain their parents love and attention again. Touya was neglected but the only response he had was he wanted to gain his father's love back as he saw his father wasn't pay attention to him anymore as much as when they're still training together. It was a pretty much realistic response of a kid that going through the same thing as he was. Children naturally will crave their parents' love and attention especially if their parents make them feel like they are being 'replaced'.
Oh yeah, definitely. I get so upset when people say that Touya/Dabi didn't go through abuse like Shoto and his other siblings did. Neglect is abuse, especially with the emotional toll that comes with it. When you are a kid who depends on your parents for guidance and love but your parents don't give you that, it's hard to give up on receiving that affection. Toya is a prime example of a neglect victim. He constantly tried to get his father's attention, to look at him, to acknowledge his accomplishments, but no matter what he did Enji kept ignoring him. Touya felt that he no longer had a purpose and was just a failure in his father's eyes. It's no wonder that that eager little boy turned into the sinister villain that we know as Dabi today. He was just a kid who wanted his father to love him. It's really tragic if you think about it. He didn't deserve to go through all of that at such a young age, none of his siblings did. And now Enji will pay the price of his actions and Dabi won't stop until that happens.
Dabi was one of my favorite characters when he was introduced and now with him being revealed as a Todoroki im excited to see what is gonna happen next with his character
When I started watching this I always wondered if Dabi was related to shoot and endeavor since quirks are usually hereditary. But damn Endeavour you created your enemy literally.
Touya does care for Todoroki. There was a scene where he tried to attavk with his left but Shoto was on his left, so he bursted out the flame on his right instead to minimize the damage. It just shows he cares for his siblings and feels sorry for them because of Enji
@@eri-zs4vq Thats not exactly how Toya's power works, His both hands are equal on releasing damage even though he is usually left-handed, and the heroes were literally fighting Toya so he really cant balance his fighting skills against Shoto and that his cremation power has limits, Toya literally said he's glad that he was gonna kill shoto even burning Shoto alive infront of his dad just so toya can see endeavour's miserable face, Toya even clearly says he is not big on feelings anymore which implied he doesn't feel affections toward his siblings.
What people need to understand is what Dabi went through is essentially emotional and psychological child abuse. He had been born for one purpose to surpass All Might, but when his quirk was revealed to be less than ideal, rather than sitting him down and doing what parents should do and help their son! Rei and Enji just turned a blind eye. As someone who has been through similar and has CPTSD, as a result, I know Dabi probably better than anyone. When he attacks Shoto, it is not because he is a being a brat he is in so much pain that he explodes; he feels like he has been replaced. Dabi and I are the same age, and when my mother started to pit my sister and me against one another, I'd do anything to get her attention. I resented my sister just as much as Dabi did. Rei also failed Touya in not getting him help; parents are responsible for getting their children the help they need rather than referring to them as problematic. So not only did his parents let him down, but all the adults in his life. Funnily enough, the same happened to me; I see many the same symptoms in my life as I do Dabi. His burns are a physical representation of trauma, and what he did to bring Enji to justice is so brave.

Toya Todoroki. Aka, Dabi. The Patchwork Villain. The relatable Phoenix of Hatred, Revenge & Cremation. He, Toga, Shigaraki and Twice are my most villains in the MHA. This need an update. Endeavour the hero? More like Efrit the villain.
Dabi, the Japanese idiom “荼毘に付す(dabi-ni-fusu)”, means “Cremate the Body”. However, in Greek, even though this is in the origin of Japan, it still leaves a huge significance to this other meaning. Possibly not, but still interesting to realize this other definition, he *WAS* dearly *loved* from his father due to his flames, except the "loved" represents the past terms. As Dabi was a failed creation, it would make sense of the passed emotion term so that his father could remember how much Touya wanted to be what he idealized, but now becoming a villain that he has to now face for the rest of life.
Dabi was abused by neglect and never being enough for his father and it broke him so badly that he went from wanting to be a hero to becoming a villain. It's so sad and Dabi did grow up to be powerful but he sacrificed his body and soul to defeat his father and prove his strength. It's so sad and I would love to see the villains side of there stories more.
*QUESTION*: Does Dabi still damage himself when he uses his flames? He uses much larger blasts but he seems to be immune to the repercussion unlike before
Yes it still damages him, Dabi has been shown to shoot his flame from his hand and a bit spread around his body, it effects him but not as much as his prominence burn would as that is his flame all around his body, spreading his burnt skin
In the anime it says that it still hurts him very much but he’s used to it and does not feel the pain even though it’s actually damaging him really bad
If Endeavor had just been smart about things and trained Touya to control his fire in order to limit the self burning limitation instead of trying to have more kids, maybe things would’ve turned out better. In this alternate reality, I think it would be nice to see Enji Todoroki stop trying to have more kids, and instead focus on raising Touya. He would have a wife, a son, he’d be a powerful and rich hero, and inevitably with the right training, Touya could grow up go surpass All Might. Endeavor would get everything he wanted, and more. Instead he was too blinded by his own arrogance and ego to see that his perfect opportunity to be achieve his goals and be a good husband and father at the same time was right in front of him, but he just blew it. Dabi is entirely responsible for his actions and he should be held accountable, but all the death and destruction he caused could have been prevented with some half decent parenting from Endeavor.

Nobody is going to have such low morals and ethics to train someone killing themselves using a quirk. And, Dabi's condition is even worse now. 80% of his body is charred, he can't even feel pain anymore, and he collapsed after the fight with Hawks.

I suppose I figured he could wear some special suit to help protect him from his own flames and hide his scars, since heroes would have the financial backing to do so. Though my main concern is that Endeavor is the one who pushed Dabi to that state in the first place by instilling in him the need to become a hero at a young age, but by the time they figured out his weakness to fire, it was too late and that drive psychologically ruined Dabi. If anything, things probably would’ve been avoided if Endeavor wasn’t such a sore loser and tried to force breed them perfect successor.

Just remembered a moment where I didn't know Dabi was Shoto's brother and said "Plot Twist: Dabi is Shoto's brother that's why they both have fire powers" as a joke but then realized few months after that Dabi WAS actually Shoto's brother
Obviously spoilers: Now that Shigaraki has AFO he should give Dabi an ice quirk, remember that his body is made for an ice quirk, so he'd be compatible with an ice quirk and his possibilities of becoming brain dead like a nomu are very low. If he gets an ice quirk I hope he gets it from Geten (they don't seem to like each other anyway), but if he doesn't then he should team up with him to fight Shouto
Geten is in prison but it is possible Dabi will kidnap Rei or Natsuo or Fuyumi and Geten’s quirk is Ice manipulation he can manipulate ice not bring ice out.
Fun fact as a child Dabi attended a daycare center secretly run by All for one choosing a back up to his successor if his current one dies after Dabi woke up from his coma and burnt the orphanage he was in it was then that all for one decided his mental instability proved himself a unworthy successor

Toya, I think, is one of the best characters in the story. I don't sympathize with the villanry but he is the embodiment and hubris of heroes as his life has been nothing but hell because of his family and the being denied love and to follow through with his ambition.
That's a very good Idea so he could just get a suit that metabolizes carbon dioxide directly into liquid nitrogen allowing him to use his quirk and allowing him to look cool.
I feel like it's weird that people forget about support items so much in regards to one's chances of becoming a hero. I mean hell look at what Hatsume has accomplished as a 15-16 year old. The possibilities could be close to endless.
I have an interesting theory for Dabi and Endeavor's next encounter. Since Dabi can't fight for long and resorts to using mind games to cool himself down. Dabi will release another video, this time it'll be a live video footage of Endeavor physically abusing Rei and Shoto for the world to see, since he admits to "watching them from afar this entire time". This will infuriate the public and the people armed with Detnerat mods will all attack Endeavor, at this point Endeavor will be so mentally broken down and Dabi will kill him with a point blank Prominence Burn in front of Shoto.

Dabi is literally the product of failed parenting but also he was just too obsessed with wanting to be the number one hero. When I think of Dabi/Touya’s backstory I get so sad 😭 especially when I look at the panel where he’s smiling so happy! I think it was mostly enji but Rei played a part too in failing Touya(and the other kids), parenting is a two man(women in Rei’s case) job. They’re biggest mistake was not getting him some serious help, because it was clear he wasn’t mentally healthy. They had a fair amount of signs he was not ok, and him attacking baby Shouto was literally the biggest red flag that he was not ok. They were both horrid parents, they literally both traumatised all 4 of their kids and I think there are many reasons to why they were horrid parents!
I can see why Rei broke down with Shoto. The kid said it himself (season 5, episode 17) “I think of this scar as being from [Enji ].” So, I wouldn’t say she traumatized all of her kids; just Dabi, which isn’t much better, but it’s still different.
How the fuck can people say Endeavor wasn’t abusive when clearly he was? He was a shit father, neglecting his children and abusing Rei. You guys can’t just wipe his past clean now that he’s slowly changing and realizing his wrong ways.

He also inherited Enji's insanity, not helped by Rei own fragile mental state. It soon became a cycle of insanity; Enji's actions and behavior made both Toya and Rei more and more insane (with Rei's passiveness making it even worse for Toya), while Toya's actions and behavior drove Enji and Rei further and further insane. (Of course the stress of the situation eventually made Rei finally crack after years of this.)
Add in the increasingly insane Enji physically abusing Rei, Shoto and Toya (and mentally abusing everyone in the family - including - in a sense - himself), and that's why the Todoroki's was called a "Hellish Family"!!!!

He can create extreme heat & fire but his body is only resistant to cold... man, if only this kid had been born someplace way up north where it snows all the time. Under different circumstances, Touya’s mismatched quirk abilities would’ve been an asset instead of a liability - he could save people from freezing to death without any risk that he’d suffer that fate himself.
But the circumstances weren’t perfect. Endeavor couldn’t be bothered to accept anything less than “perfection” let alone take the time to think & work around his imperfect kid’s weak points to help him reach his true potential (ya know, like an *actual parent*). And so instead of a unique hero or a stable member of society, Touya grew into a raging monster. It’s a tragic waste.

Touya or Dabi is one of the most appealing characters I have to say in BNHA because his backstory is so interesting and quite brainstorming. It gives so many discourse because Touya actually gave a realistic response of a child that went through neglect. Young children especially will not able to show their dislike towards their abuser freely like we adult because their parents are the people that they depend their life on and because their brain has not develop enough. Neglected child will naturally try their best to gain their parents love and attention again. Touya was neglected but the only response he had was he wanted to gain his father's love back as he saw his father wasn't pay attention to him anymore as much as when they're still training together. It was a pretty much realistic response of a kid that going through the same thing as he was. Children naturally will crave their parents' love and attention especially if their parents make them feel like they are being 'replaced'.
He also got abuse by his training position similar like shoto.
My teacher always says something about that the human brain develops the concept of consequence late so Dabi doing this as a 24 yr old also fits
Oh yeah, definitely. I get so upset when people say that Touya/Dabi didn't go through abuse like Shoto and his other siblings did. Neglect is abuse, especially with the emotional toll that comes with it. When you are a kid who depends on your parents for guidance and love but your parents don't give you that, it's hard to give up on receiving that affection. Toya is a prime example of a neglect victim. He constantly tried to get his father's attention, to look at him, to acknowledge his accomplishments, but no matter what he did Enji kept ignoring him. Touya felt that he no longer had a purpose and was just a failure in his father's eyes. It's no wonder that that eager little boy turned into the sinister villain that we know as Dabi today. He was just a kid who wanted his father to love him. It's really tragic if you think about it. He didn't deserve to go through all of that at such a young age, none of his siblings did. And now Enji will pay the price of his actions and Dabi won't stop until that happens.

What people need to understand is what Dabi went through is essentially emotional and psychological child abuse. He had been born for one purpose to surpass All Might, but when his quirk was revealed to be less than ideal, rather than sitting him down and doing what parents should do and help their son! Rei and Enji just turned a blind eye.
As someone who has been through similar and has CPTSD, as a result, I know Dabi probably better than anyone. When he attacks Shoto, it is not because he is a being a brat he is in so much pain that he explodes; he feels like he has been replaced. Dabi and I are the same age, and when my mother started to pit my sister and me against one another, I'd do anything to get her attention.
I resented my sister just as much as Dabi did.
Rei also failed Touya in not getting him help; parents are responsible for getting their children the help they need rather than referring to them as problematic. So not only did his parents let him down, but all the adults in his life. Funnily enough, the same happened to me; I see many the same symptoms in my life as I do Dabi.
His burns are a physical representation of trauma, and what he did to bring Enji to justice is so brave.

Dabi, the Japanese idiom “荼毘に付す(dabi-ni-fusu)”, means “Cremate the Body”. However, in Greek, even though this is in the origin of Japan, it still leaves a huge significance to this other meaning. Possibly not, but still interesting to realize this other definition, he *WAS* dearly *loved* from his father due to his flames, except the "loved" represents the past terms. As Dabi was a failed creation, it would make sense of the passed emotion term so that his father could remember how much Touya wanted to be what he idealized, but now becoming a villain that he has to now face for the rest of life.

Yes it still damages him, Dabi has been shown to shoot his flame from his hand and a bit spread around his body, it effects him but not as much as his prominence burn would as that is his flame all around his body, spreading his burnt skin

I can't believe Dabi was revealed to be a twitch streamer, the writing of this show is truly incredible
If Endeavor had just been smart about things and trained Touya to control his fire in order to limit the self burning limitation instead of trying to have more kids, maybe things would’ve turned out better. In this alternate reality, I think it would be nice to see Enji Todoroki stop trying to have more kids, and instead focus on raising Touya. He would have a wife, a son, he’d be a powerful and rich hero, and inevitably with the right training, Touya could grow up go surpass All Might. Endeavor would get everything he wanted, and more. Instead he was too blinded by his own arrogance and ego to see that his perfect opportunity to be achieve his goals and be a good husband and father at the same time was right in front of him, but he just blew it. Dabi is entirely responsible for his actions and he should be held accountable, but all the death and destruction he caused could have been prevented with some half decent parenting from Endeavor.
Toya's skin can't handle fire, that's the whole point, training wouldn't help at all.

And, Dabi's condition is even worse now. 80% of his body is charred, he can't even feel pain anymore, and he collapsed after the fight with Hawks.

I suppose I figured he could wear some special suit to help protect him from his own flames and hide his scars, since heroes would have the financial backing to do so. Though my main concern is that Endeavor is the one who pushed Dabi to that state in the first place by instilling in him the need to become a hero at a young age, but by the time they figured out his weakness to fire, it was too late and that drive psychologically ruined Dabi. If anything, things probably would’ve been avoided if Endeavor wasn’t such a sore loser and tried to force breed them perfect successor.

If he gets an ice quirk I hope he gets it from Geten (they don't seem to like each other anyway), but if he doesn't then he should team up with him to fight Shouto
Geten is in prison but it is possible Dabi will kidnap Rei or Natsuo or Fuyumi and Geten’s quirk is Ice manipulation he can manipulate ice not bring ice out.

Toya, I think, is one of the best characters in the story. I don't sympathize with the villanry but he is the embodiment and hubris of heroes as his life has been nothing but hell because of his family and the being denied love and to follow through with his ambition.

I have an interesting theory for Dabi and Endeavor's next encounter. Since Dabi can't fight for long and resorts to using mind games to cool himself down. Dabi will release another video, this time it'll be a live video footage of Endeavor physically abusing Rei and Shoto for the world to see, since he admits to "watching them from afar this entire time". This will infuriate the public and the people armed with Detnerat mods will all attack Endeavor, at this point Endeavor will be so mentally broken down and Dabi will kill him with a point blank Prominence Burn in front of Shoto.

The League is only one of many Villain Groups. The League is just Tomura's uncreatively named one.
There’s other villian groups I think.

When I think of Dabi/Touya’s backstory I get so sad 😭 especially when I look at the panel where he’s smiling so happy!
I think it was mostly enji but Rei played a part too in failing Touya(and the other kids), parenting is a two man(women in Rei’s case) job. They’re biggest mistake was not getting him some serious help, because it was clear he wasn’t mentally healthy. They had a fair amount of signs he was not ok, and him attacking baby Shouto was literally the biggest red flag that he was not ok. They were both horrid parents, they literally both traumatised all 4 of their kids and I think there are many reasons to why they were horrid parents!
I can see why Rei broke down with Shoto. The kid said it himself (season 5, episode 17) “I think of this scar as being from [Enji ].” So, I wouldn’t say she traumatized all of her kids; just Dabi, which isn’t much better, but it’s still different.

How the fuck can people say Endeavor wasn’t abusive when clearly he was? He was a shit father, neglecting his children and abusing Rei. You guys can’t just wipe his past clean now that he’s slowly changing and realizing his wrong ways.
