Endeavor has one of the better character growth arcs for sure. He’s really changing a lot as he learns to accept his actions and past and move forward.

I think it's only just me that never truly hated him but feel sorry for him. I also never pin all the blame to him on what happened to their family. (especially with Dabi). That's why I was so happy when his character is actually getting developed and didn't just stay, as Shouto said "my old man's a scumbag" I also like that the member of the family also admitted their faults. He's not a good man but, he's not a bad one either. He's human and his character being complex made me liked him more. (haha I really like a complex character like him and Snape from Harry Potter) He actually cared about Rei and one of the reasons why he wanted to have a kid that will have an ice quirk to avoid their body from overheating. I also see him as someone who was actually not ready to have a kid and didn't have a proper idea on how to actually raise one. ( He was young when he had a child). He saw the drawback in Touya's body with his quirk and because of that he didn't want to continue training him and entrusted Rei to look out for him. Yet, it looked like she kinds of neglected that too. Touya was already showing signs of mental instability especially when he tried to attack a baby, making Touya's situation both their fault. I actually saw him as someone who was consumed by his ambition making the people around him that he cared to get hurt, and him getting the number 1 spot made him realize things and, one of those helped him realize how he wants to be a better father. He actually wanted to earn that spot and not get it because of All Might's illness. Some are scared to say they like Enji because you'll get "called out" Most people I see who hates him, even tho he continues to better himself tend to project their own justice and moral to his character, They think taking away his hero license should be the way when it won't really undo the things he did. Yeah i agree with both of you. When people state this kind of opinion, majority will call them an abuser or something. I get it, maybe the majority have some experience with this kind of things and I cant blame them. But what i dont like is how they just ignore that Endeavour actually try to change. I just dont really like ignorance in general.

I really liked Endeavor’s whole character and how he started developing more. Yeah I hated him when I discovered how he abused his wife and Todoroki. I was genuinely surprised how he acted much later in season 4, I did not expect him to finally do something about his wrongdoings and become a better man. After seeing what happened later in the chapters, I felt somewhat sorry for him but that doesn’t mean I’ll forgive him for what he had done to his entire family. Abuse can’t be shaken off and forgiven just like that. He’s the sole reason why Touya snapped and became the villain we all know as Dabi. He’s also the reason why his wife,Rei, lost her shit and threw boiling water on Todoroki, causing her to be sent to a mental institution.
He’s not the sole reason- Rei took equal blame for also not doing anything to help him, and Toya also already showed signs of mental instability by trying to kill a baby just because he was being told not to try so hard to be a hero. Rei broke mentally from her guilt over not doing anything and because of Endeavors will pushing everyone away and pushing his children too hard. Dont jump to putting all the blame on him. Not to say he deserves forgiveness, even he says he doesn’t deserve forgiveness. But don’t try and pin it all on him. Both parents are at fault for neglect in their own ways. Even if it’s easier to blame it all on the more aggressive partner.
Enji may have been abusive and his abusive past shouldn't be forgotten he is on a journey of righting his wrongs which i respect. i just feel sorry for him that none of his kids inherited a proper hellflame quirk and that in a few generations the hellflame quirk will be history unless the grandchildren inherit the right genes for the hellflame quirk to manifest. it keeps me up at night.
I agreed and with your points but I think Endeavor's the main cause for what most the wife does. I like that he's nuanced and flaw but he an abusive jerk. Like despite his family clearly not totally forgiving him at the start of his redemption, the manga and anime clearly is trying to have his family forgive him and excuse his abuse at the end. Endeavor is one my favorite characters his story arc was pretty cool I like seeing him change being more of a family man atoning for his transgressions now that’s character growth

When Endeavor first appeared I’m sure we all hated his guts because I sure did. I loved the ‘shotoooo’ bit because I’m a sucker for comedy but I couldn’t stand him. However, seeing him grow and develop into becoming a better man for the sake of those he hurt and those who needed a Hero, he’s definitely become one of my favorite characters. He can’t change what he’s done. The past will always haunt him and his family but the resolution he has to give them a better future is something I respect.

I am a fan of the fact that the 5th season didn't end with him just getting a happy 'ending'. He's gotta put in the work and take accountability for the things that's happened to his family. Endeavor's son (the one who lost his jaw) is going to be the worst bad guy. His son used his own dna to create the Nomu, this is why they are so similiar to endeavor. Even Endeavor said "You are me from long ago".
I will say that is untrue he isn’t the greatest of all time he is a great hero and a soon to be brilliant man but he is nowhere near Young Midoriya or Young Shoto
who agrees Endeavor and All Might have a freindship like Bakugo and Deku. Endeavor is like Bakugo, and All Might is like Deku, and Endeavors power is fire like an explosion and bakugo has the power explosion same with All Might and Deku they both have the power one for all
I only want him to reconcile with his family for the sake of their mental health. Although me personally, I would never forgive him and I think they’d be happier without him, but at least he is trying to atone for his past.
@@Oook333 look at it this way- Endeavor committed some of the most atrocious actions possible in the eyes of our society, actions that if there are even whispers of a mans life could be ended in every sense of the word. But Endeavor has seen the error of his ways and is doing everything can think of and within his power to at the very least atone. If a man like that had done such horrible things, and is able to overcome them and find some kind of redemption for his actions, that gives hope for others that have been blinded and made horrible mistakes like him. He's the character that could be the most important when it comes to connecting with and affecting the readers, because he can inspire redemption in the face of insurmountable odds in the most relatable way
One of the best things to happen to the series the way the character was written and the things he's done and everybody deserves a second chance because without characters like these how can shows have prevalence

Touya's actions are VERY deranged, but his line of thinking, just like Overhaul, is completely right. Nothing spells more the truth of this than when Rei goes to visit Enji with their children, after Shoto and Enji faced Touya. I always had this lingering feeling that Rei's part on this wrongdoing was downplayed. For once, she is indeed a victim of domestic abuse, and never really gave much of it back. Yet, her lack of active disagreement and even the support she gave to Enji when things were still not so bad YET surely had dire consequences later. Touya is accutely aware of his parents shortcomings, and he never really attacked Rei for Enji's mistakes (domestic abuse, putting his pride before anything else, etc) or Enji for Rei's mistakes (not wanting to act for herself and her children). Even his appearance and genetic traits seem to reflect what his parents have of best: Rei's overall bland appearance and calm demeanor, as a way to show that she does not believe in violence as the first answer; For Enji, his piercing teal colored eyes, fire quirk and determined character, a mark of his unwavering will. Both qualities are something the other part lacks. Touya is ultimately an anti-villain archetype. The main difference here is that, unlike the transhuman, ultra-charismatic and all-knowing (or almost all-knowing) type of villain that often fill this role, Touya is merely a common human. His ideals may be noble, but his mind is not immune to trauma, psychosis, obsession and fear at any. He's a would-be white knight, broken by the circumstances he lived in, to the point where he is no longer able to see the consequences of his "necessary" actions as obstacles in achieving the very goals he still believe in to this day. As someone believing in the necessity of peace, it's ironic that Touya is third only to All for One and Shigaraki in terms of the ratio between the destruction they left in their wake and any possible good they may have done. As it would be fitting to someone burnt to a crisp, believed to be dead, and with severe familiar issues, it's funny how *he became the very thing he swore to destroy*
The amount of abuse apologists in this comment section is insane. This man literally brought downfall to his entire family. He BOUGHT his wife to use as a broodmare to make kids to beat all might. Basically trained Touya to death and only told him to stop training because he saw him as a weak failure and neglected fuyumi and natsu because their quirks weren’t impressive. Then he proceeds to beat the crap out his wife which drove her into a mental hospital and separated shoto from his siblings to push his All Might obsession. I know he’s trying to change and that’s good and all but let’s not feel bad for abusers, we should be sympathizing with the victims above anything else
SPOILERS FOR THE MANGA AHEAD (although if you watched the video you probably already know what im talking about) i'm so excited to see how endeavour "tackles" (in quotation marks because i don't know which word fits) the backlash from the public as a result of his abuse on his children being revealed. I also hope that horikoshi doesn't go for a self-sacrifice so that the public accepts him again

It's also stated the overheating is mostly internal, it's not straight up burning him up and making him get rly hot, he's also overwhelmed on the inside and it's not easy to let trapped heat out without a nearby cold surface area.

I know Endeavor is human garbage for the abuse he's put his family through, but I can't help but want him to be able to reconcile with his family
I only want him to reconcile with his family for the sake of their mental health. Although me personally, I would never forgive him and I think they’d be happier without him, but at least he is trying to atone for his past.
@@Oook333 look at it this way- Endeavor committed some of the most atrocious actions possible in the eyes of our society, actions that if there are even whispers of a mans life could be ended in every sense of the word. But Endeavor has seen the error of his ways and is doing everything can think of and within his power to at the very least atone. If a man like that had done such horrible things, and is able to overcome them and find some kind of redemption for his actions, that gives hope for others that have been blinded and made horrible mistakes like him. He's the character that could be the most important when it comes to connecting with and affecting the readers, because he can inspire redemption in the face of insurmountable odds in the most relatable way
One of the best things to happen to the series the way the character was written and the things he's done and everybody deserves a second chance because without characters like these how can shows have prevalence

Touya's actions are VERY deranged, but his line of thinking, just like Overhaul, is completely right. Nothing spells more the truth of this than when Rei goes to visit Enji with their children, after Shoto and Enji faced Touya.
I always had this lingering feeling that Rei's part on this wrongdoing was downplayed. For once, she is indeed a victim of domestic abuse, and never really gave much of it back. Yet, her lack of active disagreement and even the support she gave to Enji when things were still not so bad YET surely had dire consequences later.
Touya is accutely aware of his parents shortcomings, and he never really attacked Rei for Enji's mistakes (domestic abuse, putting his pride before anything else, etc) or Enji for Rei's mistakes (not wanting to act for herself and her children). Even his appearance and genetic traits seem to reflect what his parents have of best: Rei's overall bland appearance and calm demeanor, as a way to show that she does not believe in violence as the first answer; For Enji, his piercing teal colored eyes, fire quirk and determined character, a mark of his unwavering will.
Both qualities are something the other part lacks.
Touya is ultimately an anti-villain archetype. The main difference here is that, unlike the transhuman, ultra-charismatic and all-knowing (or almost all-knowing) type of villain that often fill this role, Touya is merely a common human. His ideals may be noble, but his mind is not immune to trauma, psychosis, obsession and fear at any.
He's a would-be white knight, broken by the circumstances he lived in, to the point where he is no longer able to see the consequences of his "necessary" actions as obstacles in achieving the very goals he still believe in to this day.
As someone believing in the necessity of peace, it's ironic that Touya is third only to All for One and Shigaraki in terms of the ratio between the destruction they left in their wake and any possible good they may have done.
As it would be fitting to someone burnt to a crisp, believed to be dead, and with severe familiar issues, it's funny how *he became the very thing he swore to destroy*

The amount of abuse apologists in this comment section is insane. This man literally brought downfall to his entire family. He BOUGHT his wife to use as a broodmare to make kids to beat all might. Basically trained Touya to death and only told him to stop training because he saw him as a weak failure and neglected fuyumi and natsu because their quirks weren’t impressive. Then he proceeds to beat the crap out his wife which drove her into a mental hospital and separated shoto from his siblings to push his All Might obsession.
I know he’s trying to change and that’s good and all but let’s not feel bad for abusers, we should be sympathizing with the victims above anything else

If his body overheating is his biggest concern, why is he always on fire?
Because he overheats when he uses his big moves that are like 1000+ degrees, small fire on his face and feet don't do much.
It's also stated the overheating is mostly internal, it's not straight up burning him up and making him get rly hot, he's also overwhelmed on the inside and it's not easy to let trapped heat out without a nearby cold surface area.
