i got a nice pair of dress boots to wear when im not working, they have a sewn in permanent leather in sole, mexican made, most comfortable pair of boots i own
My pop worked with an old school rancher in West TX. When someone would go by with their pants tucked into the boot the rancher would say they’re full of sh!t. Reason being work jeans can be mended, washed or replaced. Good boots cost a lot so you had so you made them last. If you’re going through the mud and sand you’ll get some rock in your boot with the pants tucked in.
Out in the pasture or grazeland I'd agree but, cleaning out a barn or stable I'd personally tuck the pants in. Manure washes off with a garden hose and you can take off boots before you go in the house. Pant's not so much;).
100 % true but on the contrary if you see some pants tucked in the boots fckers they might be heavy equipment operators or construction workers. Idk why but they like the look 🤦🏽♂️
I am a high school teacher and I had a group of students this past year who always wore cowboy boots to school. One day I asked them if they are comfortable to wear and they told me about the different types of boots. Towards the end of the year, they all pitched in to get me a pair of boots as a surprise “thank you” gift and they are very comfortable.
Great video my friend! The slight protrusion on the top of the heel of a cowboy boot is actually called the spur shelf. The spur shelf's primary function is to rest the spur and give it stability. When using a boot jack, it is best to avoid hooking the spur shelf, especially if your boots aren't broke in yet. You can cause the heel to pull away from the boot.
Great video! I revisited western boots last year (2022) after about 50+ years of not wearing them and now I absolutely love them! As a kid in the late 60's early 70's we had acerage and horses, and western boots were part of the costume. I absolutely hated them back then. I never wore them again until 2022 when it was presented to me as a joke. I took the bait and very glad I did. I currently have 14 pair! During the warm weather I wear sneakers and hiking shoes, but in the Fall, Winter and Spring, it's all about the boots. I work in a retail setting, walking 15-20 miles per day on concrete, and with the right western boot, they are extremely comfortable. And they look good!
Glad you did this video on boots, Antonio. Definitely agree there's so much misconception on basically everything you mentioned around boots. However coming from a guy who wears boots every day, unless I'm wearing shorts, I can attest to the fact they are comfortable, look great, very masculine, and functional. My only complaint about boots is the quality control issues many seem to have as of late. Just hope guys who are not accustomed to wearing boots and decide to try them based on your video, will not write off wearing boots due to the issues with many boots seem to have today. I also think that many people who have negative perceptions about boots have probably never owned a pair, much less even tried on a pair. I think if they did, they would think differently about them and those who wear them daily. Well done!
Wearing my Thursday Desperado's as I'm watching this. Very comfortable and stylish boot. Something about them, I get compliments on them but not other boots I wear.
Great video, Antonio! I love me my cowboy boots. I’m a traditional toe guy though. Square toed shoes/boots cyclically come in and out of style so I stay away from those. But Cowboy boots can really add an element of sophistication to your style and your ensemble.
Thank you, Antonio, for your great content. I have worn ropers almost every day for about 20 years. They work great in an office with a tailored suit -- AND they wear well with jeans. Because of injuries caused by a car crash, I walk with a cane. The weight of the boot helps to swing my weak leg, making it easier to walk. This video has very helpful information. Gents, if your boots are uncomfortable, you are wearing the wrong boots. Find a brand and size that fit well. ALWAYS look for a goodyear welt. (The ability to replace the heel and sole lower the cost over time.) And, most importantly, wear them often. Western boots will set you apart from others.
My dad had two western style boots at all times. He had a brown one he would use for work as a farmer, and then a black pair he would use as a dress shoe on Sundays
I wear black roper boots every week with my Air Force dress uniform and always get compliments. And yes, it is authorized with our dress and appearance regulation.
Great video! Yes, wear boots. I wear boots everyday and I have many pairs. For the city if you want something dressy use some dark colors like cherry caiman. When I go to DC I use my black ostrich. Custom fitted is the way to go.
I usually only wear my ropers to Rock Concerts or when roaming around desert-like areas. Good roper boots are tough and help you get that feeling of extra securtiy or protection for the areas below your knees.
NOTHING screams traditional American masculinity like a great Western boot! Im really glad to see that western style in general is gaining momentum in high fashion. Im a New Yorker and just bought my first pair 2 months ago. Plan on building my collection, and i cannot lie, i do feel like “the man” when i throw them on with my ‘fit’!
I ordered my first Western boots from "Thursday boots" thanks to your channel and your recommendation.. I can't express enough in words how much I appreciate you sending me to them.. (I got the Frontier, Tobacco colored Western boots).. I absolutely love the boots and they feel great, especially after you break them in after the first few days.. they are by far the most comfortable pair of Footwear I have ever owned.. I've gotten many compliments since I've started wearing the boots and now I can't see myself without them.. Thanks for the recommendation.. Thursday boots definitely earned my full support & I'll be ordering more.
There are way better boots and brands than Thursday for the price that they're selling their stuff, they get a lot of hate for riding on the western wear train rn and are called hipster boots lol. If you want a good boot get stuff from Dan post, rujo, Anderson bean, hondo, olathe, and even tecovas. If you got more money to spend then I'd recommend Rios of Mercedes, black jack, and lucchesse
Kool, I appreciate the heads up.. I'm still new to all of this and I really enjoy wearing western boots now.. Thanks for looking out.. I'll definitely be looking into those brands..@@pedrorojas0116
I'm Italian, I've always loved cowboy's boots and I own a pair..I used to wear them every weekend before getting married. My wife doesn't like then so I stored them..next week I'll be back to Vegas alone (I've got friends there) after 8 years and I'll bring the boots along, can't wait to wear them again
Not a cowboy a bit or anything related to it, and I think cowboy/western boots are incredibly cool and really should be a cultural heritage. Absolutely amazing article of clothing!
Good video, I haven't heard the word kicker in a long time, I didn't ride horses but when I was in high school in Houston I would wear western clothing all the time along with a lot of people, back in the 90's we were called kickers. I had stoped wearing cowboy boots since the 2000's but now I'm wearing my 26 year old boots again and I love it.
I moved to south Texas from Detroit 4 months ago. I picked up a western boot when I arrived, a square toed Ariat. I don’t regret my choice, but probably not the one I would pick now. I’ll eventually get a pointed toe pair, maybe even in an exotic leather.
Got several different toe styles on my boots: round toe, square toe, snip toe. Also the standard twelve inch boot shafts up to eighteen inch boot shafts. Like 'em all.
Hello Mr antonio. I am confused to buy suede chukka boots and suede chelsea boots . I am not sure about pros and cons of them.Which one of them can be worn with chinos, dress pants and jeans . Also please help to choose a colour of them . I hope you help me !!!
I grew up ranching and sheep herding, and I can confidently say most if not all cowboys don’t give a damn if you aren’t a cowboy and wear the boots. If you like em, wear em.
The best thing I found is to have several types in various thicknesses. I live in southeastern Virginia where in the winter I'll wear a slightly thicker wool sock than I would in the summer.
Key thing is cowboy boots won't fit your feet as closely as laced boots. Your will feet will slide back and forth a bit more which can lead to hot spots and blisters so you might want the extra padding a thicker sock gives. If you can find a pair of appropriate thickness for your local climate, even in the summer, I'd say wool socks are best but a pair of the old school grey work socks can do in a pinch. After all you shouldn't see the socks under the boots so go for practical not stylish.
Try Dan Post CC (Cowboy Certified) boot socks. They're a mid thickness boot, that gives a little absorption and padding too. Plus, they fit just snug enough, JUST OVER THE TOP OF YOUR CALF, so they don't start sliding down and have you reachin' inside your boots, to pull 'em back up!! I'm hooked on 'em and have recommended to all my best friends, who like 'em too!! Hope they work for you too!!
Hello. I live in the uk. I teach kids outdoors in the woods in rain and mud. I wear leather hiking boots and Wellington rubber boots. Would a western boot. Be the best of both. Or the worst in these conditions
Just bought two pairs of Justin Rendon Western Roper and Cody James golden suede hoverfly western performance cowboy boots, a definite mature step up away from being a sneakerhead and ankle boots society. A great addition to the classy confident rugged men yet stylish ensemble 👢👢🤠
I grew up in suburbs of Illinois. I was always told my friends I can’t own western wear (cowboy hats, boots, belt buckles etc.) because I’m not from the country side or a cowboy but I love western wear. I also love the countryside so I was told I was a complete wannnabe cowboy and stuff. Eventually once I got out of high school and started college I became more comfortable just wearing my western wear and I love it. I wear my western gear a lot more often then I did and I’m glad I’ve become somewhat more comfortable.
I would like to see a boot hat pairing. I’m having a difficult time finding the appropriate hat to go with my style. I want to wear a cowboy hat but I’m not ready to buy a pair of western boots. I wear iron rangers Thorogood and Danner lights. Been wearing backwarrds flat bill hats most my life and don’t feel it goes with selvedge taper fit jeans and denim western snap front shirts or flannels. Thought adventure style fedora but i don’t want to look like an adventurer or paperboy kangol style cap but I’m larger and not balding so it’s just not for me.
Having horses for over 40 yrs...riding English and also working on a cattle ranch in Montana for a few yrs there are many differences in boots.....many come from the job you are going to do in them. For fashion there isn't many jobs to do....I do remember in the early 80's girls would wear those jordache jeans tucked into the pointed toe cowboy boots and man that was very attractive My first real GF was blonde blue eyed and wore them all the time...fond memories...
My western boots are my "goto" for most of my formal business looks. I've worn them on stage with a suit and jeans. I've worn them going out with my wife to a nice restaurant or to the theatre. Western boots, built right, are more comfortable than just about any other shoe I have.
I’ve been using western boost for about 4 months now, when I got them I thought they were gonna be harsh and uncomfortable, but after using them literally everyday since I got them I can confidently say I’m not going back to running shoes
Grew up in the great state of Texas wearing cowboy boots. Spent summers on the land, cutting cattle, hauling/stacking hay, fixing fences stretching barb wire, etc. Also wore ‘em to class in college - still wear and love them. Will say though that some people don’t belong in them, they look awkward and uncomfortable. But if they’re your thing, you’ll never give ‘em up.👍🏻
Cowboy boots are fantastic, and they aren’t just for cowboys. I was watching an interview with Tom Petty and he was wearing cowboy boots. A lot of rock musicians wear cowboy boots. Boots just look great poking out of a pair of jeans. I’ve worn cowboy boots most of my adult life. If I am wearing jeans, I am probably wearing boots. About 4 years ago I started wearing boots with chinos and slacks. I get a lot of compliments. I prefer wearing a roper, especially when traveling because they are easier for me to pop on and off, vs my Cowboy boots that require a boot Jack. With so many styles and leathers there is a pair for everyone. When you wear boots own it.
I did a lot of homework when I wanted a pair of boots. I chose a round toe with a roper heel because I have bad knees. I should have gotten them a half size smaller but I needed a extra good arch support insole. I'm going to add a leather insole. Other than that my boots are extremely comfortable. After I broke them in of course. Best foot west I own.
Most of the shoes I have in my closest are boots. I have buckaroo pair, a couple of ropers, and many more. My favorite ones are by a brand that makes the boots as traditional as it can be
Wont lie i have spent loads of money on nice quality boots till this day. But i found traditional western riding boots with a perfect heel and arch for spurs made back in 1945 and till this day they are the best pair i own
I’ve got a pair of what I consider dress boot, with a traditional toe cowboy style, such beautiful deep blood red color that was given to me a really really long time ago. They say Iron Age inside and have to steel toe ansi? number in it that’s about all I know, I mainly think they’re steel toe house slippers 😊, stupid comfy and i apparently haven’t grown since the 9th grade lol. They have absolutely no traction in snow so not wearing them in salt weather and not wearing them for anything other than just errands and chill activities they’ve stayed in really good shape. They’re the only pair of boots I’ve ever had without laces , and been they’re for me when all the others have failed, now I’m looking for another pair cause I love them so much. Also I don’t know if I’d wear them to ride a horse, I’d attempt to do that without shoes I think
If you're going full cowboy probably vintage Old Spice but I don't know if that's even sold anymore. They handed it out to soldiers during World War 2 so your grandma will approve and you won't get too much guff from the old guys;).
I'm a yinzer and while I don't really wear them much now, I used to wear cowboy boots all the time. It didn't matter what the weather was like outside. Rain, snow, or just plain old nice weather I was wearing my boots. I loved them. They were comfortable and looked good in just about anything. I wore them with jeans and I wore them with suits. I have to get a new pair.
It appears that western boots look right only with jeans/western-wear, --or with suits (!), limiting their versatility. eg: Do they make boot-cut chinos? Ideas and suggestions please!
I'm about 350 pounds and when I walk in my larado boots they are just so comfy but when I stand in one place for a little bit my feet start to hut my back and my feet
wore boots for 30 years…best luck i’ve had is with rocky brand boots ..for longevity and comfort, just take care of your boots clean with saddle soap and conditioner
Cowboys prefer a leather sole, cause it won't hang up in the stirrup. Sloped heel won't get stuck in the mud. Spur shelf on the heel helps keep your spurs on. Good boots can be half soled and re-heeled many times! Boots should feel good in the store or don't buy them. They slip on your heel a little, thats normal. In the old days, they got them wet at first and wore them til they dried cause there were no left or right boots. Made them fit better.
I like my western boots, but my plantar fasciitis scares me to death about wearing them, I haven’t put them on in like two months, but believe me, I like to wear them
I’ve bought some before and I was professionally fitted. They were the worst most uncomfortable shoes I’ve ever worn! On top of that they were a pain to take off, they slipped on everything and the souls were out after wearing them about 20 times! I can’t see my self wasting my money again!!
Great explanation but Cowboy boots or any shoe with hard heel will never actually be comfortable, the ergonomics don’t work and the shock absorption is awful on 99% of them, love them but don’t buy boots for comfort alone the things you mentioned surely help but without being a ranch boot most wear on your feet fast
Thursday boots make great boots but I would not recommend them for western boots. A good western boot should come in Narrow, Medium, and wide widths. Thursday doesn’t even come in widths, just the standard sizes. Boot Brands are recommended that will fit anyone, Ariat, Dan Post, Double H, Justin. There are a ton out there. I would not ever recommend ordering online. I’ve done that. Unless you know the brand and how it fits. Go into a western store if you’re new to boots and chat with the staff. They can get you in the perfect pair of boots!
If your buying more that one every day work boot that you can beat to hell and back a year , switch it.. spend the money. A damn good scope on your rifle And some damn good boots are what your new primary purchases should be on your radar .
How about the correct way to wear your pants/jeans with the boots? I've seen many southerners joke about people wearing jeans tucked inside the boots. That's how you could tell they're just pretenders
Well made FOR THE PRICE is what you're supposed to say... And I've walked plenty of miles in cowboy boots and wished I had been wearing something else most of many of those times.
Many of the less expensive boots won't be leather AT ALL, so like Ariat does this on purpose and such, so Thursday might be OK option but I haven't checked out Tecovas and some others yet.
TheSkandranon 1 day ago My dad had two western style boots at all times. He had a brown one he would use for work as a farmer, and then a black pair he would use as a dress shoe on Sundays Reply: That was my original concept, but the one pair gets neglected too much for the cost and the other pair can still get mildew if worn all day every day, etc.
I wear civilian boots reproduction of the Civil War boots. There are so comfortable I don't wear the bob nails nor the heel plate because I don't want to go skating lol there more box toe but raw leather soles
Hold up .. on my behalf. My family are actually ranchers and cowboys .. even the girls . And we’re all inter twined in the construction world from a very young age . We actually buy every boot as their intended. . If you like the look theirs not a damn thing wrong with that BUT if your ever trying to spit some game in front of someone who really is about that life . Well smell that bs right of that rip 😊

Always thought I couldn’t wear cowboy boots because I’m a city boy but I got over that and now own 4 pairs. My favorite footwear by far!
Fuck what anyone thinks ima wear whatever I want
I'm the same, I live in Northern Ireland so no one likes American things but don't give a crap about every one else and neither should you or anyone
i got a nice pair of dress boots to wear when im not working, they have a sewn in permanent leather in sole, mexican made, most comfortable pair of boots i own
u can wear what we wear but u can walk the walk and talk the talk
My favorite rockstars wear cowboy boots.

If you’re going through the mud and sand you’ll get some rock in your boot with the pants tucked in.
I agree lol. Tucking them in only works with long Stovetop Cowboy Boots and 99 percent of the time, with Chaps on. Otherwise you look like a goofball.
Out in the pasture or grazeland I'd agree but, cleaning out a barn or stable I'd personally tuck the pants in. Manure washes off with a garden hose and you can take off boots before you go in the house. Pant's not so much;).
It also looks ridiculous.

I'm a trucker there my preferred boots
Having horses for over 40 yrs...riding English and also working on a cattle ranch in Montana for a few yrs there are many differences in boots.....many come from the job you are going to do in them. For fashion there isn't many jobs to do....I do remember in the early 80's girls would wear those jordache jeans tucked into the pointed toe cowboy boots and man that was very attractive My first real GF was blonde blue eyed and wore them all the time...fond memories...
OK...I just subscribed. And yeah, I'm no cowboy, though I used to love riding horses, even owned one once. Good memories! Great video.
A good alternative to western style boots for urban dwellers is a biker squared toe harness boot
Most of the shoes I have in my closest are boots. I have buckaroo pair, a couple of ropers, and many more. My favorite ones are by a brand that makes the boots as traditional as it can be
I want to buy my first cowboy boots, but damn, they're expensive. Love your videos.
Is the ropper the same as the puncher boot?
Excellant video, my 3" heel cowboy boots however are quite grueling to wear if I'm walking a lot lol.
Love cowboy boots, favorite are Justin’s
So much good information, A+ video
I wear these all the time in malt-licky Texas
In NYC with my ostrich ropers. Thanks for the tips! 🗽✊🏿
Thursday is a good company but if you want traditional cowboy boots try Tecovas, Cody James, Dan Post or Rujo Boots.
Here in Australia they are very very popular
Western boots are the most comfortable and easy shoe I've ever worn man🤙
The problem I have now is that the back of my foot inside the boot burns. Is there a solution to this problem?
Mr. Antonio , please help me out between suede chukka boots and suede chelsea boots
Hey Marine, I have 4 pairs of western boots.
I love cowboy and roper boots
What is a cowboy scent to wear?
There’s a cologne that’s only sold on ranches across the country. Best of all it’s all organic. It’s called Shipping Pen 😂
If you're going full cowboy probably vintage Old Spice but I don't know if that's even sold anymore. They handed it out to soldiers during World War 2 so your grandma will approve and you won't get too much guff from the old guys;).
Plus you can easily add lifts to make you look taller - Ron DeSantis
😂
It is astonishing to me that Thursday hadn't offered wide sizes in those boots.
I wonder if these kinds of boots would work on bike pedals. 🤔 pedals tend to damage shoe or boot tops..
Yes. Look online at Cavenders. They come in 3 or 4 colors (can’t think of the manufacturer offhand)
(Just looked…Wrangler makes them)
I wear boots with Chinos all the time. I wear LL Bean chinos. They seem to fit me best.
im sold ur a great salesman
I'm about 350 pounds and when I walk in my larado boots they are just so comfy but when I stand in one place for a little bit my feet start to hut my back and my feet
Can you make a comparison with engineer boots?
Great boots🥾🥾🤠🤠
wore boots for 30 years…best luck i’ve had is with rocky brand boots ..for longevity and comfort, just take care of your boots clean with saddle soap and conditioner
I wore a pair of cowboy boots at my high school graduation in Philadelphia
Thursday aren't durable mine started falling apart after 1 month,no warranty either😢
Started wearing boots before start walking.grew up around horses most comfortable thing on your feet.
Actually, maybe the best boots are made in Spain. Check Sendra, Mayura and Sancho
I have a pair Sendra biker boots with walking heel. I like them well.
Nevada is one of the few states that you can wear cowboy boots everywhere
I bought a pair of excellent fitting cowboy boots once. I wore them twice, then promptly gave them away. I felt like an idiot wearing them.
Don't worry about others... if they feel good to you tell then wear them with pride
Never rubber soles
Why do you say that. Rubber soles are very practical for those working or those in wet climates.
@@jamesjackson4264 You just treat the leather soles. Dubber soles are ugly.
If your buying more that one every day work boot that you can beat to hell and back a year , switch it.. spend the money.
A damn good scope on your rifle And some damn good boots are what your new primary purchases should be on your radar .
waiting for PNW style boots
How about the correct way to wear your pants/jeans with the boots? I've seen many southerners joke about people wearing jeans tucked inside the boots. That's how you could tell they're just pretenders
Well made FOR THE PRICE is what you're supposed to say... And I've walked plenty of miles in cowboy boots and wished I had been wearing something else most of many of those times.
Last time I went by Boot Barn, there weren't many that didn't have square toe.
I'm supposed to talk about my foibles with the fit of Thursday boots here now? Could take a while...
Many of the less expensive boots won't be leather AT ALL, so like Ariat does this on purpose and such, so Thursday might be OK option but I haven't checked out Tecovas and some others yet.

My dad had two western style boots at all times. He had a brown one he would use for work as a farmer, and then a black pair he would use as a dress shoe on Sundays
Reply:
That was my original concept, but the one pair gets neglected too much for the cost and the other pair can still get mildew if worn all day every day, etc.
Ouah top boots❤
It sticks out for spurs
As these western boots have square toes: I thought you weren't a fan of square toe shoes?
I wear civilian boots reproduction of the Civil War boots. There are so comfortable I don't wear the bob nails nor the heel plate because I don't want to go skating lol there more box toe but raw leather soles
Black snake skins in my tux at my kids wedding and I got so many compliments who know guys pay attention to that as much as woman??
Stopped wearing them years ago zero traction.
Hold up .. on my behalf.
Most of my friends that grow up wearing cowboy boots have foot problems by the time they reached 35 years old. They are all Texans.
