Hey John... My buddy told me the crack between my hood & headlight cover he could repair it but it would show back up in a few years. The only way it could be Fixed correctly was to replace the Whole hood surround. Very Expensive even back in the Early '80s. Yikes lol I said to him with All the money I putting into the Repaint, Front Spoiler & Different rear cover "just repair it for now, I'll think about a Proper Fix later" He told me "Good Choice" lol Keep Pushin' On My Brother from another mother. ---- Hello Steve-O... I'm behind on a couple of Vids yet with Mr Jones. You're doin' Swell so far.
Nice work on the Corvette so far, very good content, not the look what I did while the camera was off 👍, Very in depth, content, you show what your doing and how you guy's do the work, not like the look what I did while the camera was off, The Auto Refinery is Top notch in my view, Thanks guy's!
Chris, thank you so much for the kind words!! Recording is a bit harder than I thought it would be. Still learning. Thanks for all the support, and stay tuned. I’m confident that this corvette is going to be saved
Wow. we really like getting compliments like this. We often discuss with each other, how the act of recording these videos is more difficult than the work itself. The vette is far and away in a very good place at the moment. Johns got a great handle on things !! Thanks for watching. -steve
I have a couple comments. 1) epoxy bonds to fiberglass, fiberglass does not bond to epoxy. It will shear eventually. 2. When you roll this out you can press the aluminum loft stick into your laminate. It will give you a sanding guide when you pop it out. Should not any wax to release as the glass doesn’t stick to aluminum or nickel or stainless. 3. If you have any carbon steel you need to encapsulate or bond to, Daracane 8084 is a bonding agent. Paint on thin as a primer and then go to reg resins. The Daracane resin is a high quality resin. It’s a vinyl ester not a polyester. The 510 A or B meets a fire code. That’s what I use for my inside engine bays. Used to mix with antimony trioxide but I don’t think it’s required anymore Check with Ashlands. It looks to me you are well on your way and you have the right ideas. I will subscribe just to check your progress.
Thanks Ken! Yes I am aware of the no fiberglass over epoxy rule. The bonding strip was completely made out of fiberglass. Epoxy was one used as the bonding agent in between the fiberglass fender, and fiberglass bonding strip. Thanks for all the information, im really enjoying learning about the process!! Thank you for watching, and I promise to do the very best job I am able to do!
necessity is the mother of invention
It certainly is!. Lots of problem solving getting done on that corner - no doubt!

John is definitely a craftsman. Beautiful work! I may need to tap into his advice with a little fiberglass work on my BMW fenders.
Anything anytime Randy!!!!
He's becoming very very proficient at the glass work.
