    This isn't really the typical bike I think about getting, but this thing is ridiculously good-looking. It's obviously a versatile, great machine. Drooling a bit over this one.

    I do like the way Luke reviews these bikes! There's no glossing over or covering up...but just telling it like it is...the long and the short of it...the sweet and not so sweet of it! So when it's all said and done, you have a decent idea what you're getting into...as you can't depend on the dealers to be on the level. Great job!

    Hi at Bike World and thanks for the excellent review of the new Tiger. I am a proud owner of a 2014 Tiger Sport with around 8000 miles on it and to be honest it does pretty much all that I need. With the exception of the screen (poor) and the lack of a gear position indicator. So the new edition covers these two items and more by the look of it. But the price is misleading. A basic £10.300 for the bike (still seems expensive)but to transfer my current panniers and top box to the new bike would be another £225.00 for colour matched panels. Plus £180.00 for heated grips and another £195.00 for a center stand (an essential item for the bike) Thats another £600.00. So it looks like I will do what I did when I bought my current bike. Wait for the teething problems to sort themselves out and then let the price drop before looking for a decent low mileage example. £10,900 might be attractive to new buyer (actually it would be £11.695 for a new bike with panniers and top box) but I certainly can't muster any enthusiasm for spending that kind of dosh for a few updates.

    Glad they are still making this bike. I had a 2007. Great bike that is under rated

    2018 model pretty much sorts out the minor grumblings about earlier models, although they are still very good. gear change indicator, cruise control, ok to good screen etc - not much left to be unhappy about except the useless mirrors

    After the Versys 650, this is the bike I want to get next. Damn is it beautiful.

      Exactly what I was thinking. Hopefully I'll be able to find a nice used one in a few years.
      Still love my Versys 650 and plan to ride it for a while, but my next bike could very well be Tiger Sport.

    talk to my local dealer today he said the bike never sold well in the US that's why we won't be getting them I sure wish Triumph would reconsider I think it's a much better by now and I think they would sell really well.

    Nice review. Looking at one of these for my next bike, would be a replacement for my 2008 Sprint ST which is a great bike but expect I'll be wanting to move to a sporty adventure bike in the next few years. If I can't afford a Multi it'll probably be the Tiger Sport.

  • @Greggspies
    @Greggspies 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Considering the TS until I tested it, horrible changing gear my foot started hurting had to twist me foot shifting up the range. Very viby at 85 couldn't see through the mirrors, bars and levers will send fingers numb on long autobahn runs. The ride by wire lacked feel, maybe me dunno, but sure felt off. Bike had grunt and sounded great shame it's to wide with panniers coz of that exhaust. Scratched from my list but try it yourself and comment....!

    • @fyorbane
      @fyorbane 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Must be something up with that bike. These are smooth and great to ride. Should not be vibey like you mentioned. Definitely needs further investigating on that particular bike.

    6k cheaper than a BMW xr, having ridden both, they're great bikes but the BMW with all the electronics really disconnects the rider from the road, great bike for car drivers but if you grew up with Rd LC, etc not great

  • @Banditmanuk
    @Banditmanuk 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice review but most buyers will want luggage; it is a sports tourer after all and no mention of how easy to fit or the fact the exhaust will take up loads of space in one pannier.

    • @Flight231
      @Flight231 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Banditmanuk £750 for panniers that clip over exhaust. £250 top box. Then £200 for centre stand. The 1050 paint "sticker" is ugly. I will still say my Sprint is THE sports tourer! The Tracer works out £3000 cheaper and does the same job as the Tiger Sport....sorry Triumph!

    Sure they weren't trying to say the 1050 is a barge.? I like it. Quick interstate blaster for Oz. Wheels look really small? Bit different from my '82 Tiger Trail.

    Great video, thanks. But, the only question I need answering is... This?, or a MV Agusta Turismo Veloce 800?, I can get them both, second hand for more or less the the same miles, year and price.

  • @HockeyVictory66

    They stopped selling this model in the US in 2012. We either get the 800 or the 1200. Sucks for me because I prefer the 1050 and it's lower price than the Explorer XR 1200 that starts at $16k US.

      I agree. I used to have a Tiger 1050, it was the absolute best bike I ever owned as far as being able to tour, hit the twisties, and was also good for being a bit of a hooligan if you so wished. Triumph, please bring this great bike back to US soil!

    Hi!
    I'm curious, in what way is the Triumph Tiger Sport 1050 a "definitely, noticeably better ride" than the Yamaha MT 09 Tracer I'm also considering?

    • @joannaclare4499
      @joannaclare4499 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      have ridden both, triumph has considerably better handling especially at high speeds, tracer front end light by comparison

    • @fyorbane
      @fyorbane 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Better quality suspension and brakes. Plusher ride and much nicer fit and finish.

    • @tonylazzo6896
      @tonylazzo6896 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Per-Ola Forss I rode both today. The Triumph feels more planted, the suspension feels better, it's not as fast as the Tracer but the Tracer feels cheaper. It accelerates very quickly but not smoothly. I have a Street Triple R and the difference in smoothness of acceleration from the Tracer is huge.
      In short, the Tracer is a great bike, not least because it is cheap. If it were not, I'm sure we would all be far more critical.
      Anyway, I ordered the Tiger today.
