    I got my first variegated one when they were 500 to 800 EUR a leaf. And it reverted. The next one reverted as well. Then I propped them, they came back and by their 3rd leaf at most, they reverted again. No matter the conditions I gave them. Granted, those were Albo. Not Aurea. But I could kick myself for even getting them - not just because they love to revert, but also because it's JUST an Adansonii. I totally fell for the hype. So in keeping with your rating, I'd give it a 2. It's so unspectacular, so underwhelming... no matter which variegation. It's certainly ridiculous how much money I spent on them.

      Ohhh no I am so sorry you went through that Tanya, but yeah I get it it's just an adansonii 🤷🏻😅🌿💚

    Love your videos as always ❤

    Some plants look better when they are non variegated
    Variegated billitae and gloriosum
    Most variegated philodendrons
    It’s the holes combined with the variegation it just looks a bit sick
    I think if people are looking for a variegated or colourful plant
    Syngoniums are the way to go
    They’re cheap and they are pretty stable
    if you give it a consistent light
    They also don’t burn as easily
    Don’t know why people love it enough
    I recently got a Syngonium red spot tricolour and Aurea plant and it’s just a lovely easy going plant that was relatively cheap as well
    I always think I’ll wait for the plant to become widely available and cheap then I won’t feel guilty even if I kill it 😂

    • @Houseplantygoodness
      @Houseplantygoodness  ปีที่แล้ว

      You are completely right, syngoniums need a lot more love for sure. And yep 💯 Agree wait for the price to come down. If I really want a plant and it's too expensive then I have to learn patience and wait 😃 💚🌿

    Love this series! And yea an update on pon please! Ive barely dabbled in pon in the years ive had plants, but im curious to hear more of your thoughts. Im glad to see this video in particular because I don’t have this plant yet and I think I’ll keep holding off. Thank you so much! Much love from Texas ❤

      Awww glad you are enjoying the series 😊 yeah I think a follow up pon video will be coming up soon for sure. Its an interesting media, which I kinda have to use due to travelling frequently. If I didn't I would likely still have most of mine in a soil type media.

    I don't understand why the regular green form doesn't get any credit. When the light hits it right and it shimmers.....so beautiful 😍

    Absolutely love this series, it’s one of my favourite playlists to throw on! I actually just finished watching another one of your videos and you were asking about tips for white fly. In one of Good Growing’s latest videos, Emma purchased a little machine on Amazon that’s supposed to suck in flies, mosquitos, etc and it seems to be working well for her fungus gnat problem, maybe something like that could help with white flies too. Anyway, just wanted to say I love the series and your channel, you have no idea how much suffering you have saved my plants with your tips and tricks, and how much my wishlist has grown since I started watching!! Hope you’re having a lovely day 😊

    I’m leaving this comment with all the love in the world and with zero judgment…but that plant...I’ll just say…bless it’s little heart! A year later and it’s a crispy, scraggly, mess of a plant. Still love it though! Variegated plants are so much fun to grow, even if they are a pain in the neck sometimes. The anticipation of a new leaf, not knowing what it’ll look like, is always fun. Maintaining variegation, propagating can be a welcome challenge when you’ve been growing for a long time, it’s fun to be challenged sometimes.

    I remember when I first got interested in Monstera Adansonii it was on Instagram the normal green type back in 2016, I did not know its name at that time but thought how delicate it looked with all the fenestrations and vining too. Once I found out the name I came across a variegated one which was stunning, this was in 2018, the grower was in Sweden. 🇸🇪. Apparently it mutated in her care, and from there on the demand for this plant escalated massively. Lucky her. ☘️

    I own a mint or marble. It is easy peasy. Fast growing and very stress free. It ‘s on a moss pole with south facing light and no browning. I have a Albo on the other side of the pole but it is stubborn and slow. Time will tell. I do recommend the marble.

    Love this series!
    I got mine off Mercari for $80!
    Seems to be a fast grower for me, it didn’t even take that long to get going from a cutting. my only issue with it, is if there’s too much guttation, the ends of the leaves brown up/rot a little, the Rest of leaf is okay.

    • @Houseplantygoodness
      @Houseplantygoodness  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ohhh that is a good point never thought that it could be the guttation that leads to enhanced browning on variegated section. 👍💚🌿 Hopefully yours keeps growing beautifully 🤞🏻🍀

    • @jojosandgigi
      @jojosandgigi ปีที่แล้ว

      Guttation is not an issue with this plant. You would see sap droplets on the back. It happens more often Parthenocissus Amazonica type Vining plants and flowing plants. I've never noticed any so in my adonsonii. I think it had something to do with fertilizer burning the edges... just my opinion🤗😚

    • @laurasPlants
      @laurasPlants ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jojosandgigi probably depends on what soil mix you have it in! I thought mine was pretty airy but my greenhouse cabinet also has high humidity. Mine gets little droplets on leaf tips all the time which is where it browns. I’ll probably switch to an even more airy mix when repotting next.
      I think we may also be defining guttation differently!

    • @jojosandgigi
      @jojosandgigi ปีที่แล้ว

      The droplets are transpiration... that's normal

  • @mhzplantingaroids
    @mhzplantingaroids ปีที่แล้ว

    Love this plant so much. But the only drawback is how long the variegation takes to show when a new leaf unfurls. I mean it is great nevertheless, just that there's that slight "anticipation" that it might just be a reverted leaf instead! hahaha! A fear all variegated lovers might have.

    My plant looks exactly like yousr!! I've been stressed about it and wondering what I was doing wrong.... I think its just the way it grows. I grow mine under T5 grow lights at temperatures between 69 and 74 degrees. Is it possible it doesn't like fertilizer? I feel like when i did fertilize it went downhill and started burning on the ends.

    • @Houseplantygoodness
      @Houseplantygoodness  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ohhh you might be right I fertilised this the same as my other plants, so frequently, I might try to pull back on fertiliser and see how it goes. Hopefully yours bounces back too 🤞🏻💚🌿

    I always find it weird that people get upset about a plant reverting. Your plants get healthy, gets over a virus, or stops mutating in their care and that is a bad thing? 😂
