How I see it is it’s a combative sport. You should always be attempting to have the better setup at all times. If you come out on top by taking those advantages well then you were just more technical then him. You should always be taking and not letting them get it back the best you can. I wouldn’t say it’s cheating but a battle of technicality and up to the refs to call what they see (verified by replays of course) and it’s up to the other guy whether or not he’s going to take back what you took.. Not to go without saying there are obvious situations of cheating that can’t be without consequences.

There is a fact: the word cheating in its meaning means a violation of the rules. If in football a player scores a goal with his hand and the referee does not notice, then this is cheating. If the referee does not notice the violation and counts the goal, formally this does not change the fact that a violation of the rules occurred. The referee's decision remains in force, but the player's action itself can be considered unethical and violating the principles of fair play.

@@MR.Minimiltia mine change depending on opponent. Simply put: 3 handles 2 table positions Is 6 exercises. If your handles allow 2 grips ( straps and multispinners) You now have 12 exercises.
The main issue is that 90% of the people never read the rules. Somebody told them something and thats it. I even met the refs who didnt know the real rules.

Don’t keep doing the side pressure if your shoulders hurt. Don’t learn the hard way lol. Do resistance band external rotation with 5 second pause and shoulder stability exercises. You have to keep your rotator cuffs strong, You don’t want to injure them, the shoulder is pretty complicated inside there.

Sometimes when i see you in a match in a winning position struggling to finish while having a nice lane to transition to a press but instead just finish with brutal side pressure. I'd say no, it's not cheating to do what the refs allow, but I might be yelling at the ref if they are being unfair with their leniency to the competitors. We have all seen some really loose matches that cause some contention down the road.

Pull to side with flying elbow is side pressure. I choose not to press. Some folks trains with elbow static, there are even machines specifically for that. I don’t like it. It causes elbow pain.

If excellence is about process, the question is what is process about? I would think the main point of a process in the context of sport is to attain victory consistently over time. But I appreciate that some victories that come at the cost of process may undermine long term success. A good analogy for me would be powerlifting form: I may beat a PR with bad form, but that will ultimately retard my overall progress, so good form is crucial to longterm success. Nevertheless, the principal point of good form is to lift the heaviest weight and attain victory (in the context of competition). But all this assumes that the main point of engaging in sport is attaining victory, and that is perhaps too simplistic.

The refs do not want to make someone lose to fouls because its not entertaining, and E vs W or kott might lose significant revenue. Its a dirty tactic but it works for Devon. Uncle Todd, when I do a lot of side pressure training my shoulders start to hurt. How do I get my shoulders to stop hurting so much?
You occasionally have to train your shoulders to get them to catch up to your arm.
Dumbells, high reps, swinging motions
Don’t keep doing the side pressure if your shoulders hurt. Don’t learn the hard way lol.
