I've been self employed window cleaner since 1981,, that's 36 years straight, my dad was a window cleaner before me. Window cleaning is a simply business, but people over complicate it. Get your round together, and look after it, treat your customers how you would like to be treated, and don't rip them of, do little jobs for free, like checking the gutters, or putting a gutter clip back in,,, it will benefit you in the long term. Be professional, print slips of to say the windows have been cleaned,, or if you are going on holiday, tell your customers. Keep it simple and you will do well

I started out by doing pamphlet drops (under front door) to businesses - mainly at night - avoiding traffic and store owners too busy with customers or just not interested. And I don't have to stand and wait to find that out!

Hey, Keith went around my neighborhood after saving up for supplies I bought a small shop vac cleaning material you recommended and but everything in the trunk I took a few "NO's" but my community is pretty am big so I kept knocking, it may not sound like much but I made 300 bucks this month, not including gas and supplies but, sure dam is a result. My part time job flipping burgers gets in the way of it but I know soon i'll be able to quit.

Another idea to pull in work is to talk/leave quote cards to homeowners that live near new construction. Their windows get filthy and covered in dust and mud and it drives homeowners crazy. Just a thought!

I'm based in Toronto and I've been running my low-rise window cleaning company, Tiger Building Services, since June 2014. You are absolutely correct... it's a fantastic business model and if you don't adapt and try new things you will fail and feel burnt out. My father has owned a window cleaning company for 25+ years. I worked for him on and off since I was 12 years old. But after university I was trapped in that conventional mindset of needing to go and get a real job! After getting tired of the suit and tie Government Business Analyst Office Work I grabbed a squeegee and a bucket and said I want to more control of my life and to make some real money!
You are an inspiration. Bit by bit I am gearing up to really start crushing it here in the Greater Toronto Area. Prior to 2016 I had never done residential window cleaning. I stand here at the end of 2016 with over 120 homes under my belt. Next year I am aiming for 400 homes!

Before this video came out I wasn't even running or thinking about starting my own business! Keith your channel gave me the roadmap and confidence to go for it! just wanted to add something to my last message. This is crazy, my most successful approach when it comes to sales, directly relates to the part where you said that the richest customers just want to pay top dollar for the "best service" out there. after i heard this i implemented my new secret weapon, I tell my customers in the first sentence that we are one of the most expensive, as we focus primarily on quality not speed or quantity . 9 out of ten say that is exactly what they want. they prefer to pay more to ensure the best quality service possible. this has been an unbelievably lucrative sales tactic. i swear its all the littlest things that make the biggest changes thought you might find this interesting!

Hi Haroon, you need to have the basics of lawncare. Mower, weed trimmer, rakes, customer service skills and dress professional. You will need a truck to haul around your equipment. Look for TH-cam videos on "How to start a lawn care business". You can do it Haroon!

There's far too much competition in England for window cleaners some only charge £5 for a 2 bedroom house with 7 windows in it i just can't compete with that and that's why I'll only do window cleaning part time as I don't rely on it I'd have to do 50 houses a day to earn £500 a day which is impossible. I think Keith needs to pop over this side of the pond to find out how bad it really is and how little we have to charge just to get customers and I'll give you an example of how hard it is a friend of mine started his own window cleaning business a few years ago he printed business cards, leaflets had a website and advertised on all social media platforms he worked every hour of daylight to make a success of it he charged a fair price and managed to branch out into the upper class areas with 5/6 bedroom mansions which he got through recommendations he priced one big job which was to clean facia/soffit windows, doors both glass and frames for £60 which they agreed to then when he'd finished they said " sorry I'm only prepared to pay £10" anyway cut a long story short he lost virtually all customers to benefit scrounging scruffs who charged £6 and eventually his business folded and he ended up working for minimum wage as he couldn't compete with such low prices

Hi Keith, I have started cleaning windows and read your book. Here is my stupid question: What is the best way to actually clean the windows? There are so many videos, it's confusing. In the book, you said to go to the Blueprint, but that just asked me for my email address. I just am not confident in how I am cleaning them! They are squeaking, it's taking me forever, etc. I know it's really lame, but what should I do?

Hi Keith this is Art at B&B window cleaning, I'm currently not working nor have I ever worked in the winter days. My question would be if I'm not cleaning windows, what is another service I can offer to my clients?
