i was so scared looking at all of those layers without support...and then it fell over... i was right to be scared...
You should always support your multi-layer cakes with dowels so it doesn't fall over!
monstersandcupcakes I used dowels and they created weak points causing the cake to crack - the cake was spherical and has strawberries within the layers may have played a small part (not saying dowels rnt good just sharing my sad cakeness)

I was actually thinking the same thing...dowels and boards also, at least after every 3 or 4 cookie layers. Anything over 6" tall should have support.

Pepperly I have. You don’t freeze it. You only need to get it to fridge temperature, it’s just quicker in the freezer

The red gel color deep in dramatically in icing once it concentrates so when you first frost some thing with that it is very pinkish but then the next day like 12 hours later it’s a really deep red..... absolutely loved seeing you watch PA at the end of the video! "Red No Taste" - The reason it's named that is the original Wilton Red color tasted NASTY if you used enough to tint your cake/icing dark red. Good call, Chris!
Wilton original red gel coloring 🤮. And you have to use so much of it to get a good red.
Exactly! That's why I use 1 or 2 oz. bottles of the McCormick red food coloring for my red velvet recipes.
Red and black food dyes taste horrible. But, not to everybody. It's a genetic thing. I'm so glad they finally came out with a no taste version

My heart broke a little, just like the cake, when it fell, but glad you were able to salvage most of it anyways.

Aaaw, bless. While watching y'all I kept waiting for you to either add dowels or a least straws to support your structure. Most recipes for Red Velvet Cake have you use the *Entire* bottle of "Red, No Taste" food coloring to get that deep red color you were looking for. I think your fantasy/vision of a huuuuge cookie cake could be achieved, with the right support... Kind of like the support Chris gave you throughout the video. He is a sweetheart, a good man. You both have been well and truly blessed! Take care.

If your cookies were even slightly warm, they would melt the icing enough to disturb the structural integrity of your cake. I AM sorry it fell, but it WAS funny.

21:52 I think I know why it fell over. The softness of the cookies at the bottom and middle wouldnt have been able to support such a, weight of the other ones ontop so that's why it fell, u could've prevented it by adding dowels in the middle though, just a little food for thought for potential future cookie cakes

16:45...... 😧😔Everyone please bow your heads, as we reflect on the long, now lost life of the beloved Cookie Cake. He lived a short life. Beginning it with an overwhelming sense of potential. But, as some things do, Cookie Cake lost the potential to gravity and the kitchen floor. But enough of the sadness. Let's celebrate what we got to see of Cookie Cakes life as a nearly-finished cookie house. Upon the creation of Cookie Cake, his parents Chris and Rachel were gifted with the discovery of a newfound technique in the art of frosting-making, and maky laughs and joy was shared along the way. Cookie Cake brought joy and anticipation to people's lives, and now we shall reflect and remember those times. If anyone has any other words today, please speak them now. Thank you.
