You should do a reverse prank on your Mom where you purposefully have her overhear you filming a fake intro talking about doing a prank video where you get stuff on wish or etsy but you are gonna make them all yourself, but in reality you are just gonna buy the stuff for her to review. So she thinks you made them and thinks she knows the prank when the real prank is her thinking she has the upper hand when she actually is being completely fooled. Kinda prank-ception.

... Mia's baking knowledge is so weird because even absolute novices know you cut the cake in half and add a buttercream layer but she doesn't, but then she's also doing crumb coats and reinforcing the structures of her cakes like a pro.

What I love about you is that you jump in and try - that’s 75% of it! That’s why you’re so successful- tips: Always freeze (not fridge) your cakes for storage and prior to crumb coating. You need a layer of frosting between layers of cakes. I know, no one cares

This was so fun! Mia’s mom is absolutely precious! Earlier in the video, I was saying “you forgot the unicorn’s horn!” But Mia didn’t hear me… 😂
😂 I also wondered if Mia was ever going to add the unicorn horn! The missing horn is why it looked more like a pig, but Mia was probably to tired to process it.
I wondered how Mia was going to handle the "5-star" bakery using duct tape on the box, instead of clear transparent tape that all bakeries use, but she avoided that by cutting the wrapping paper. 😄
I get so much joy out of watching these videos with Mia and her mom! They're seriously the cutest people, you can't help but smile when they start giggling together!
Honestly I’m really impressed by how the cakes looked. There were definitely a handful of technical errors (including not layering the cakes and not having icing between layers, which would be major giveaways), but I’m still sooooo impressed!!

One tip that I have is for things like the bear's eyes, it can be easier to make them out of fondant using cookie cutters. They tend to look neater and it's easier to do. Other than that, good job!

Tl;Dr Mia's parents are better than 1,000s of other parents.
Maybe because unlike other parents, Mia's parents are supportive of her choices no matter what. Clothing, jewelry, careers everything. They love and support their daughter and know that she's young and deserves to make her own choices, and what *she* wants to do.
I feel like it goes both ways. If I tried so make videos like Mia makes and include my family (which I’ve tried to do) I’ve turned down every time. I’d love to have this kind of relationship with my family but it doesn’t always happen.

I’m a professional cake baker/decorator and Mia, you did a fabulous job! You definitely have the gifting. If you ever want to take your craft to the next level, I would just recommend you take a few classes on the basics and then it’s all practice, practice, practice from there on out! Of course, wedding cakes are another level and you would need to gets some basics for making them too. The primary thing I learned is just relax and have fun! Seeing what you are able to create is soooo rewarding! ❤️🎂

BAKING TIPS FOR MIA:
1. Cut thick cake layers in half with a cake leveler or knife to have thinner layers so you can have the correct frosting to cake ratio.
2. Adding a snack pack tapioca pudding to box cake batter improves the taste, texture, and moistness of a cake.
3. Frosting a cold cake is almost always easier than frosting a room temperature cake.
4. Offset spatulas are sooooooo much easier to use than straight ones.
Tell me more about the pudding?! Do you substitute it? Or just add it to the batter in addition to the other ingredients?
@@daniellekirsch5402 I add it into the batter in addition to the other ingredients. Honestly it gets the same results as adding sour cream, extra eggs, etc. but much more time and cost efficient.
Also adding frosting between each layer since she didn’t put it between the two layers of the unicorn cake
Applesauce is another great option!
And for the smaller cakes she didn’t add buttercream in between them while stacking

@@mindyb3197 Between the layers! The layers would usually have some kind of filling, even if it’s just buttercream to act as “glue” & keep the layers together. It also helps the cake not be so dry once there are multiple layers.
