    For the woman who didnt automatically cry when seeing your baby for the first time..
    It is okay. Yes you will love your baby. I know it feels like you wont and cant but you will.
    When i had my daughter i didnt know but i was depressed and yes i did have ppd and because of that i did not have the "omg i love you" moment with my daughter and i hated myself for a long time but it is okay and i know that now. However i do say get support and dont forget you are beautiful and you created something so beautiful that loves you unconditionally.
    For the person who is telling the mom with ppd "think about your baby" stop. Just stop. Because we will think "they wont remember me" we think about how they will be better without us. Tell us how you will miss us and how much we bring value to this world..how beautiful we are. Treat us how you would want to be treated if you were sick. (Loved and nurtured)

      Cecilia Alcantar I always thought that I would be so emotional when I gave birth to my baby but he came 10 weeks early. when I arrived to the hospital (at 2am) I was 9cm dilated and honestly I had no idea I was going into labor (my water didn’t break and it was my first baby) so when I found out he was coming already, I was so in shock with what was going on. when he was born, I just couldn’t believe he was out. I only got to see him for some seconds because they had to take him to the nicu. all I could say was “I cant believe he’s born” so I never got to experience that first special bond but it’s okay now 😊

      I was a absolutely shell shocked after I gave birth. My body was in shock too after losing 40+% of my blood that as soon as my daughter was out I just couldn't believe it was over. No tears at all, just relief that she was out and safe. Every woman deals with birth differently and that's okay ❤

      Thank you. I had a rushed emergency C-section where they put me out and baby had to go to the NICU, I saw him before they put him there for a brief second (I woke up as soon as they wheeled me out of the operating room) and I didn't cry. He looked dead and blue and had this huge mask on his face. I didn't cry. And then when I saw him a while later in the NICU I felt like he wasn't mine. I didn't give birth just now, this wasn't my baby. It was really weird and traumatic for me.
      I love my son more than I could have ever imagined but it took me a few days to realize that he was mine, that I was a mom without "giving birth".
      Again pregnant now and I'm hoping for a different experience

      I didn't cry with either of my kids. My body and brain were so scrambled by all of it I didn't even know up from down. I also didn't get an epidural so I was even more all over the place..

    • @AttackRunRepeat
      @AttackRunRepeat 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thank you. I had ppd as well and my literal first thought of my newborn daughter was "why are you so dark?" She was tinted a blueish color and my husband and I are both very white so I was very confused. My second thought was "omg you're so chunky." So any mom's out there thinking my first thought wasnt about how much I loved my baby it's okay, I fat shamed mine.

    I just finished my OBGYN rotation today, and I just needed to say thank you on behalf of all medical students for allowing that student to watch your delivery. I am always so grateful to any woman who allows me learn from such a private thing, and I think it's important for you to know how appreciated that is. So sorry that you had a scary experience, but congratulations on your new baby boy! 💕

    After having a miscarriage which I then found out was a molar pregnancy in October last year I've found it so hard to watch your pregnancy videos despite being so unbelievably happy for you, but I had to watch this one.
    I cried with you when you talked about how emotional it was to see your baby. I hope one day I get to experience pregnancy and labour and the newborn magic again - I'm very lucky to have a beautiful, healthy 2 year old, but I am a single Mama so "trying" is not something I have the opportunity to do at present.
    I'm so incredibly happy for you, Chris, baby boy, Julia and Luke ❤️ congratulations, you deserve all the happiness!

    I had retained placenta too. Lost 1800ml and had to have a d&c after delivery and a blood transfusion. I’m still left with some pelvic floor damage from the after care. That kind of trauma makes nursing hard and recovery hard. I’m so sorry to hear that happened to you. Talk about it until it feels complete and processed. People kept telling me that it was ok because baby was safe and I got through it. Of course I was grateful for that, but hearing that didn’t help. It’s still a traumatic birth and I needed time to come to terms with it. One doesn’t negate the other. My heart goes out to you and I’m glad you shared your story. Congratulations on the baby!

      I miscarried in May of 2017, and even though it wasn't a planned pregnancy, it was one of the most devastating things I've ever been through. It is a sadness like no other. Then, I gave birth to my surprise rainbow baby boy in August of last year. I'm very happy for you, and wish you all the best!

    I’m so proud of you mama!! I know this birth was a rollercoaster of emotions but you did it. And for that you should be beyond proud!! My first delivery was absolutely awful. The doctor never removed the whole placenta. I was alone in the delivery room which just made things even more terrifying. It was also my first birth so I didn’t know what was going on. I was never told that the placenta broke. I was never told that there were parts still in there. I was passing clots the size of golf balls for weeks after birth and almost had sepsis because of it. The level of anger I had is an understatement. I want to commend you for speaking about this topic because it’s something not spoken about. It’s super important because a lot of first time moms may not be aware of the dangers associated with this. So thank you!!

    • @juliereis146
      @juliereis146 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Beauty Beast my first was similar, doc was up to his elbow to remove my placenta, and then the nurse didn’t not kneed my uterus properly. At the time being a first timer I was in love with her, when I was home and both my son and I were sick because I passed the infection to him through my breast milk, I kinda felt like choking her!

    I cried along with you... I too miscarried before having my child this year. The birth of my little princess brought so many different emotions. Happiness, sadness all mixed into one, thinking of my angel baby and the current perfect gift I was holding in my arms. Even the doctor got emotional and told me that he could tell that I was a crying both from grief and pure joy.

    My daughter was born in valentine's day last year. She was our second and came fast and furious, less than 6 hours from first contraction to baby out haha. It was really hard to do it in the hospital where we went through our stillbirth and I'm just very thankful we didn't have the same doctor deliver our rainbow. The nurses and everyone were really great and understood our situation and went out of the way to make it as different an experience as possible from what we went through the year before. I'm really grateful to everyone at the hospital and our ob office for getting me through the insanity of pregnancy after loss. So happy for you and your family, enjoy your newest addition ❤

      Exactly! Us Canadians get to go in, and leave and go home, with ZERO medical bills. It's mind-blowing to US, that Americans have to worry about being both sick and broke (from said medical bills). Makes zero sense to me!!

    • @andywiththeface
      @andywiththeface 4 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      Vieve it makes no sense to us either! There’s a movement that’s growing and trying to change the system, but there’s been so much propaganda that has told people that if we get universal healthcare, we’ll be socialist and then end up like Venezuela. Like, there’s a middle ground between medical bankruptcy and communism guys!!!

    Congrats!! I have 3 kids (twins and 7 years later an oops baby). Both deliveries were beyond traumatic & awful. So traumatic that I ended up with PTSD. I’ve always been a believer that the second you become pregnant, it’s about the baby. Not about you. Yes, you can have a birth plan or want to it to go some way BUT. It not about you. It’s not about your experience. It’s about the baby you chose to have. It’s always refreshing to see women say “it didn’t go the way I want but I have a healthy baby which is the entire point”. You look great, I hope you’re taking care of yourself as well as your little ones. You seem like a great mom-I’m so happy for you. ❤️

    When i gave birth in late dec. I needed to have an emergency c-section bc my babys heart rate kept dropping with every contraction. It went from "you should think of maybe going into a c-section" to "we NEED to do one NOW" papers started getting handed to my sister to fill out for me, my husband getting the sergical scrubs on, them wiping me down with disinfected wipes by the nurses, and me walking into the O.R. It was scary and i felt so alone for the 15-20 minutes while they did the anesthesia and laid me down before my husband came in and sit with me while they operated. Them talking to eachother, asking you questions, repeating random things you dont understand is frightening. Thank god that i had a very good anesthesiologist that kept me calm by talking to me, making jokes, and letting me know whats happening throughout the procedure. Baby boy is now healthy and surpassing all his benchmarks so far ☺️❤️. Cangratualtions mama! You were the one who taught me the ins and outs of makeup and im so happy that i got to see you bring one more little one into this world!😊💕

      I had a similar situation. I wasn't progressing past 5cm and baby was coming face first. The emotional healing is taking longer than the physical healing. I gave birth february 13th.

    • @kayleep.2458
      @kayleep.2458 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      angelkitten86 i feel the same. My emotional damage really came from me not even being able to really take care of my baby for the first 48 hours or so bc i was in so much pain. I cried to my hisband telling him i felt like a failure bc i needed him to just do a simple diaper change, which is obviously something i thought i should be able to do.

    • @Brodykab69
      @Brodykab69 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      kaylee P. Sounds exactly like my birth story with my youngest, but at the end of the c section when they started closing me up I started feeling EVERYTHING, like hands inside my stomach just everything! It started with “why can I feel that” to me screaming “ooouuwwww I can feel your hands!” Then I was out, day n half later I finally woke up & in extreme pain! 1st csection I ever had and even though I didn’t have a choice to have one or not idk if I would ever recommend having one, took some precious valuable bonding time from me and my lil one, because of it I wasn’t able to nurse him and it took a little for him to be comfortable with me again, not to mention the healing time sucked, I was in the hospital for an extra week! Thankfully baby was all good and healthy!

    Watching your story makes me realise how much people who aren't healthcare professionals miss when it comes to information about everything in hospitals. After all you've been through, I'm really happy for you and Chris.
    The placenta part is such a pain because you don't want to push this after all the good work you've done before.
    For my second child, my placenta didn't want to come out too... I remember my ObGyn actually jumping on my belly to push it out. It was scary because everybody started buzzing around me. Luckily it came out and I enjoyed my time with baby.

    FYI shaking is a normal side effect of an epidural! It happens with nearly everyone at some level. And WOW, Never heard of them diagnosing a retained placenta after only 10 minutes 😳 usually they give it about half an hour before they decide what to do do. Took about 45 minutes with my 3rd babe.

    When my daughter was born, I was so hyped up that the doc caught her and I announced, “It’s a girl!”
    The doc looked at me and said, “That’s my line.”
    My husband looked at her and said, “You first.” This one really confused the nurse next to me.
    I told her, “I’m going to be the scout leader first. If it was a boy, he’d be the scout leader first.”
    “She’s only 5 minutes old.”
    “She’ll be a Girl Scout.” In fact, she was a scout for 10 years. And my husband got his turn when my Kris was born 6 years later. There must be something about the name Kris/Chris because he’s very handsome too, just like yours.
    Congratulations and I can’t wait to “meet” your new baby boy.

      Our third son was born, and once confirmed as a boy, husband turned to me and said "You win". He had gambled on the gender to determine last name (baby got my last name). I love silly or stupid bets like that.

    • @ItsJustLisa
      @ItsJustLisa 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Jesse Bergeron, ours was “Who will be a scout leader first?” Hubby is an Eagle and I was a GS for 8 years before my leader years. Honestly we thought our daughter was a boy. Probably because we had a very hard time finding a male name we liked. Robert and John/Jon were out because we had so many of them in our lives. Then there were the names ruled out because I’d had students with them. When Kris finally came along, his sister had already been named for great-aunts on both sides, so I suggested our grandfathers, Peter (mine) and Lyle (his). He refused Peter because of, “you” know”. I informed him that the vernacular at the time was to call it a “Johnson”, not a “Peter”. So I said, “Fine, we’ll use your second middle name. Kristian.” Nope, that will get a kid beat up.
      I finally said “Okay, we’ll twist it to Kristopher, with a K, because it’ll go with your Norwegian name and my Norwegian family (on Mom’s side).” So he’s Kristopher Lyle.

    • @ItsJustLisa
      @ItsJustLisa 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gina Søndergaard, I couldn’t get Hubby to go with spelling it as Kristoffer. But it turned out that in high school, he had a Christopher J, Kristoffer J and him, Kristopher M in the same class. What challenged the teachers was if they were all in that class period. They couldn’t say “Kris with a K” because there were two of them. They couldn’t say “Chris/Kris J” because there were two of them. So my Kris just went by our last name and as a joke he had his senior class shirt personalized as Mel-B (“Get it, Mom?” Yes dear, I know all of the Spice Girls.).

    So glad you mention what happened with your placenta, the same thing happened to me. I was so exhausted after Labor and delivery, it felt like I held my daughter for 5 minutes and then they were wheeling me away. I felt so scared and unprepared and when I woke up I was so confused. Especially because it was my first time giving birth. I felt so out of it. I wanted an epidural and I did t get one while in labour. It really scared me and I have really struggled to think about having another child. My mum had 7 kids and she one time had her placenta removed but they didn't take her to surgery, she also didn't have an epidural and she said it was so painful, they did not prepare her at all 😩
    Thanks for sharing your story I don't feel so alone 🥰

    I'm so sorry you had to go into surgery for the afterbirth. I had to have an emergency c-section with my baby and waking up after was terrible. I couldn't control my body for about 2 hours after. I was shaking and I was sweating and sleepy and just really out of it. I hated right after waking up and it apparently was like 2 hours that I was asleep but it only felt like 15 minutes. I'm glad everyone is okay and I'm sorry you had to go through that!

    My labor story is almost like yours. My daughter was due on the 19th of June then they changed it to the 17th. Well then I wake up on Friday 10 a.m. went to the bathroom and lost my plug. I called my doctor because I was a high risk pregnancy and didn't know why or what it was. She said to monitor any contractions and come in when they start. An hour after losing my plug. I have just ONE hour of regular contractions. Then had back labor. so I called her and she told me to come in they would hook me up to that monitor and when they checked me I was to centimeters dilated and 60% effaced. Which is that opening you were talking about that shifts. So they told me to go home and come back when the pain was unbearable. Went home. Contractions gotten worse Saturday. Went back. 2 ½ cm dilated. 65% effaced. I swear we went to the hospital about 5 times and we lived 30 mins from it. Midnight Sunday morning I couldn't take it anymore. Hadn't slept since I got up at 10 am that Friday. Called her and said I need something for sleep. Went to the hospital and was only 5 cm!!!! 70% effaced. I refused the epidural because I have back issues. I was afraid of bein paralyzed. They gave me some medicine that only last about an hour but it makes you relax. Feels like you drank a bit. So I got to rest for an hour. After it wore off. Oh man those back contractions were crazy. I started pushing at 3 a.m. I had my daughter at 7:39 a.m. I probably shouldn't have been in labor that long but this hospital was meh. Me being a high risk pregnancy you would think I would have had more than two ultrasounds. I have one at 20 weeks to know the sex and 1 at 25 because my Dr didn't know how to measure right (different Dr. He was a male) I had a female near the end and she delivered my baby girl. I have her 7 years ago. I would do it all over again. No epidural at all.
