All the people trashing him over 65 lb braid, I don't get it. When fishing heavy cover (as you normally are when frogging), you need strong, durable line to get through the moss, weeds, lilies, etc. Braided line doesn't stretch, which is important when frogging. Anyone who knows anything about bass fishing will tell you fluoro line is a no go for topwater lures. It sinks and will hinder the action of your lure. Mono has too much stretch, IMHO. Braided line has a much smaller diameter per pound of test than other lines. The maxima 65 lb he uses has a diameter of 0.016 inch which is equal to 17 lb test monfilament. Look into topwater frog fishing before you talk Ish in the internet (see what I did there?), you just might find out that he knows what he's talking about. I mean, shoot.... it's not like he's a top pro bass fisherman, right? That is known as one of if not THE best with that particular lure.(all respect to Dean Rojas!)... get off your high horse...lol. it's fishing.

Kryptonite357 My last trip I used heavy braid. My worm got caught on something and I was determined to get that damn worm back (in a kayak btw). Im reeling this thing in and it pulls my kayak right on top of the snag. After a few seconds of reeling hard I see my worm snagged on a branch. A full tree branch that washed in the river after a recent flood. I love heavy braid.

You have to use braid, i use 40, n it works fine in my area lily covered, i was using 50, but to throw a bit farther is worth it. ,,,is there pulls my n my yak

I gotta say, though -- "Walking the Frog" is pretty neat! I usually walk spooks and stuff like that, but a Frog? Man...now I wanna try it! Thanks for the video.

Some of the biggest bass I’ve caught were on frog lures. I can’t remember who made it, but I was like 14 and watched a fishing show and they were using this frog lure and just cleaning up. I begged my parents to take me to the pro shop to get one of those frog lures. I finally got one and went out with my step dad. He was using a plastic worm and telling me my frog wouldn’t work. Within like 15 minutes I had landed my first big largemouth. I wasn’t catching little ones. I was pulling in the 3+lbs and more. Since then frogs have always been in my tackle box. Man I want to go fishing so bad now. I need to quit watching these fishing videos.

Can't get over the accuracy of your casts. If I tried that there would be about $200 in lures stuck all over those docks. Then I would go for a stiff drink and sell what's left of my fishing gear.

***** so true with the birds best, there's a TH-cam video on here that shows a very good way to get birdsnest out of baitcaster...works really well. What a fat bass! I fish with frogs when the mist is still on the water in the very early morning. The bass are spooky, so I flip the frog in cover and let it sit for a couple minutes. I twitch it, and let her sit some more. Eventually, a fatty will bust through the cover and it is Miller time. Hey Ish, thanks for making your frog sink proof. The sinking scum frogs were a pain. Take care, Bill.

Manuel Arreguin You don't need a big fancy boat, just get a kayak and hit the water. Would recommend at least a 12 footer. Sit in or On top, whichever. You don't need the fancy fishing kayaks either. Just about any flatwater Yak will do the trick.

+Manuel Arreguin actually you can bass fish from shore with ease. you're just a little limited. I'm a shore fisherman and slay the bass. most of bass fishing is about targeting shallow cover near the bank anyway. just look for some vegetation or fallen trees or other fishy looking spots and pitch a Texas rigged worm or something

@10:28. -BRO! 😳😧 Did he just SLING that bait under that dock with that level of accuracy!
And he did it quick and effortlessly too; with no thought! Like he was slinging that bait out in open water. Me on the other hand, I would have to take a moment to aim that cast... and possibly SLAM the lure into the dock 🤬... Hell I would just look at that spot... think about it for a sec... “-Naw I’ll cast over here instead! 🤣” IF, I made that cast I would be like:
“-YES!” As if I was Napoleon Dynamite, or as if I just caught a 12 pound Bass. Ish a Pro.

If you have a frog lure with legs, one thing to do is put a big fat gummi worm on the hook and a weight next to the hook's eye, and jig your nearly mature tadpole down in the deep water near heavy cover/floating structures etc. You can pull MONSTER bass up off the bottom like this.

Ish, along with bass, I fish for Northern Snakehead in Maryland. They are spooky and have eyes on top of their head so skipping Into cover and hiding spots is what gets it done often. What is your key for skipping a frog over a longer distance for stealth purposes? They don’t have lips so I get misses more often than with bass. I have some of your frogs and love them. Thanks for the videos and your reply Ish!

I cat fished all night. Not a single bite. Fished a bobber, fished reasonable far out bottom, then way out on bottom. Not a single bite. But I grabbed a crappy Yellow frog from walmart last night $5.00. I hit a small pond this morning in the rain right at Daylight and I got 7 nice strikes. I did not land anything so I came her to see what I was doing wrong. Looks like I was doing it right just trying to set the hook to soon.
If I can get strikes in a $5.00 frog imagine what I can do with a good frog (and not understanding when to set the hook). I am so excited to get these and fish them soon.

I just started fishing this summer. the little lake next to my place is absolutely riddled with lilypads, but has really decent pike. kept losing lures to the damn lilypads. dunno how i first heard of them, but eventually i ordered some frogs to deal with the issue. and man, let me tell you: nothing quite like a pike striking a frog! like a goddamned freight train! real good way to learn how to hook set: the wake before the strike gives you some warning and lets you really figure out when you're too early or too late

I very seldom hear any frogs from the banks. Will artificials work under these conditions??

No matter how hard i try, and no matter how many of these kinds of videos I watch, I still can't even get a bite with frogs. Any other advice?

You're probably fishing them around bass that don't want them. So, you might want to find different bass or just drop it until you get in the right situation.

I rarely get bites with frogs up in NH.. I fished them way back in the early 90's and I tried them again last year.. still nothing. They just don't seem to be looking for frogs around here. I've been way more successful with Jitterbugs and Chugbugs/Spooks. I've also had way more success in heavy cover by punching through it than going on top of it.

He rips 'em in and swings 'em in the boat bc he isn't used to catching them often, doesn't want to give them the chance to get away...
