Being underwater with a 14 kilo tail while acting and moving is seriously hard, even for 30 seconds. They definitely needed training for that, its not easy. But the scenes aren’t filmed more than 30 seconds, as they mentioned in other behind the scenes videos. I am guessing this is due to safety reasons and it is much harder to do dynamic breath holds than static ones.

Ok but H2O solidified me wishing I could be a mermaid. I ended up making a fully functional mermaid tail as my senior project. So yeah it impacted me as a teenager.
I’ve watched Mako Mermaids, in my late 20’s and it’s terrible but I kind of love it. By the end of it the original 3 mermaids weren’t even a part of the series anymore just mentioned in passing so viewers had a reason for their disappearance.
So the two series are related but the pureblood, for lack of better words as I'm more used to the vampire genre (that isn't live-action tv-shows or most western modern takes except for Darren Shan), saw that 3 girls became mermaids, went like "they'll probably keep it a secret because that's what teen girls do" and did nothing to help them figure out their powers. Only to pop up when some guys appear there and say "there has never been guys here! And if it's something guys are known for is it gossip!" and try to -stalk- follow them around in case they let it slip. But those girls did absolutely not need any follow up...
Honestly, I don’t know why they were blamed for Zac falling into the moon pool… it was a classic wrong place at wrong time situation with repercussions that don’t make any sense 😂
In mako mermaids, mermen are evil. That’s why the pod had a big freak out about how Zac was now a merman, because they are very dangerous creatures. And since he has a connection to the island the pod had to leave because it was now too dangerous for them to stay there
I couldnt even get past the first episode of that. They changed the characters so much and the storyline too. It didnt have to be a carbon copy of H2o but it could have been closer to the source material.

In the show they keep referring to the young ones as hatchlings so mermaids are definitely born from eggs. I assumed that since mermen are clearly more rare than mermaids, you need a mermaid and a mermen to make a mermen (as in the case of Mimmi and Zac who are brother and sister) while mermaids on their own don’t need mermen to generate other mermaids. I used to think that they left their eggs in the moon pool and the moon did the rest but the show doesn’t give any evidence for that.
H2O was my favourite show as a kid (and I recently watched it again and it's still great) but everytime my little sisters turn in Mako Mermaids I turn it off immediately, I personally think its really bad.
I found this show on Netflix. I liked it. I wish they dove more into Zac's Merman ancestry and the war between mermaids and mermen. Zac's biological mom is beautiful.
I LOVED H2O as a kid, so when they announced the Mako Mermaids was gonna be a thing, I was soooo hyped. It’s good for a kid but doesn’t hold a torch up to H2O lol
I actually prefer mako mermaids as a concept because there's a lot more options for where to take the show, for example the trident idea, and the merman chamber. You can't have that in H2O cause there are no mermen. And then on top of that, the idea of "real" mermaids opens up more possibilities for magic spells, more interesting and dangerous threats, and new ideas. I think H2O was the stronger show overall, and I agree that it was better written but Mako Mermaids is a lot more gripping, even if it does feel a bit more like something that stays in your childhood

I never thought that, the camera quality of this show is 10x better than H2o. The storyline and range of characters got a lot better to. Honestly, mako mermaids is such an improvement to H2o in my opinion.

In mako mermaids, mermen are evil. That’s why the pod had a big freak out about how Zac was now a merman, because they are very dangerous creatures. And since he has a connection to the island the pod had to leave because it was now too dangerous for them to stay there

In the show they keep referring to the young ones as hatchlings so mermaids are definitely born from eggs. I assumed that since mermen are clearly more rare than mermaids, you need a mermaid and a mermen to make a mermen (as in the case of Mimmi and Zac who are brother and sister) while mermaids on their own don’t need mermen to generate other mermaids. I used to think that they left their eggs in the moon pool and the moon did the rest but the show doesn’t give any evidence for that.
H2O was my favourite show as a kid (and I recently watched it again and it's still great) but everytime my little sisters turn in Mako Mermaids I turn it off immediately, I personally think its really bad.

I found this show on Netflix. I liked it. I wish they dove more into Zac's Merman ancestry and the war between mermaids and mermen. Zac's biological mom is beautiful.

I LOVED H2O as a kid, so when they announced the Mako Mermaids was gonna be a thing, I was soooo hyped. It’s good for a kid but doesn’t hold a torch up to H2O lol

I actually prefer mako mermaids as a concept because there's a lot more options for where to take the show, for example the trident idea, and the merman chamber. You can't have that in H2O cause there are no mermen. And then on top of that, the idea of "real" mermaids opens up more possibilities for magic spells, more interesting and dangerous threats, and new ideas. I think H2O was the stronger show overall, and I agree that it was better written but Mako Mermaids is a lot more gripping, even if it does feel a bit more like something that stays in your childhood

I never thought that, the camera quality of this show is 10x better than H2o. The storyline and range of characters got a lot better to. Honestly, mako mermaids is such an improvement to H2o in my opinion.
