Getting a 18/19 year old to play a 17 year old just simplifies things. As long as the actor is ok with it, it's ok. They also can work full days, not the half days children can do. A 30- year-old is ridiculous, but a few years won't make much difference and is much easier.

I was 6 six years old when the show aired and I´m german. I only remember me yelling "JU GETTE BEEEST OF BOFWÖÖÖ" everytime the intro started, because that was the only thing I was able to get at that time xD

I just realised after all this years that miley got away with being two people, same body, same voice, same everything just by wearing a wig and no one noticed yet in the first episode she goes out of her way lowering her voice and putting pie on her face just so lily didn't recognize her...
It's cause the people closest to you have a higher chance of finding out since they know your speaking voice and they've seen you up close. She was taking precautions.
I know now that I think about that was like the part of the show that got to me how no one in her life noticed how similar Hannah and Miley are which is hard to rationalize
But miley genuinely looks diff in the wig and she changes her style completely too, the rest of the disguise is purely social and psychological. When you're talking to/watching Hannah, you see the star and pop queen, a celebrity not a really a real person to an extent but then you go to miley and she's just this typical teenager, you won't think glamor and Hannah when you see her

Best moment in the whole show. When Miley's aunts visited to see Miley's award show and they kept fighting the whole time. Then they ended up fighting on live tv. All you could see was the shadows on the wall. *Lilly:* Jackson why did you chang it to wrestling I was watching the award show *Jackson:* This is the award show Miey breaks up the fight and rips off both of their wigs because they are bald.
Also the aunts are both legandary country singers who were involved in Miley's life in some way (at least at the time)

It has got to be the most hated season. I was shocked to know that so many people hated it. Sure, it has its flaws and some aborted story arcs, but did it really deserve to be hated on this much...?

I feel like Disney Channel has this thing with their first seasons where everyone comes off as awkward. Then they settle in for season 2 a bit more and the acting gets better.
Probably bc most of them are child actors and some of them (like Miley) it’s their first time acting or being the star of the show (that’s a lot of pressure) on top of that the actors may not like each other (I believe Miley and Emily didn’t like each other IRL the entire first season- and when you’re new to acting or yoinger and don’t like another actor that’s hard to conceal)... and I don’t think they give them much time to get to know each other before filming and usually from cold read to filming it’s a very short turnaround ... also I think execs don’t put a lot into pilots as most pilots never see air time/ I think with kid show sitcoms they just basically see what sticks ... albeit I think they put a bit more into Hannah Montana bc they recruited billy Ray (and actually Hannah was supposed to be in high school, but he convinced them that Miley should be Hannah and that’s basically how she got the part and why Hannah was in middle school)... so that would be even more pressure if you care about being successful (you got the job bc of your daddy but you want to prove you deserve it)

Did you know that the original voice of Avatar: The last Airbender was mitchel musso but when the show was picked up and finally aired, they replaced him with Zach Tyler Eisen.

I also graduated from high school in 2006, and I knew lots of people my age who liked Disney Channel. And the next year in college, there were people in my dormitory listening to the High School Musical soundtrack. At the time, it was just sort of normal for actual teenagers to watch Disney Channel, and you really were a well-adjusted high school senior if that's what you were into at the time.
