Disney forgets they had decades of massively profitable animated movies with the overwhelming majority starring princess leads. Make good stories, go back to basics. Period.
Don't say that, they'll take it as "Remake what has already worked some more" instead of hiring actual creative types to make something that's both cool AND new. More of the same but slightly different, more revenge for the oppression of women, all that gets put first when creativity dries up.
Biggest change they are heading in the right direction? FIRE KATHLEEN KENNEDY! She thought she could force girls empowerment and woke culture down our throats with no backlash. She is the worst VP ever. I'd fire her for inept understanding of the product and the audience. Let her go ruin some indie movie.
I remember Kennedy telling male fans that they didn't need them. This is for a new audience. The force is female blah blah blah Then to react as you've claimed. Did they see how the WNBA was doing and decided to do the same. LMFAO 😂😂😂
thats the big disconnect between us and them they don't think making everyone black, gay and a woman is political. its just being "inclusive" no one cared that they made Hiemdal black in 2011 because we knew there wasn't an agenda behind it Idris Elba was just a great actor. if they pulled something like that today everyone would raise an eyebrow because they have done it so often at this point we know what they are up to. a race or gender bend can work. look at Battlestar Galactica the female Starbuck is way more popular than her original male counterpart
I am a woman and a superhero fan and the more they tell me the audiences that choose to avoid this garbage are sexist and misogynistic the more I identify as a sexist misogynist. I am off to change my pronouns in my bio (that I don't have)
Ah that's okay, they have a word to dismiss you as well. You are a "pick me", you are just a woman who's so desperate for approval and male validation that you pretend to agree with the toxic sexist males in hopes that they will give you attention. Don't think that just because you are a woman they will feel in any way bound to accept your ideas or positions is they don't match their own. Much easier to dismiss and label you and so exile you along with the rest of the heretics.
Both. Also I couldn't give a fuck about more super heroes no one cares about. Blue Beetle? The Marvels? Shazam? Madame Web? not every story needs to be told.
Nah I'm sick of superheroes too. I guess I'm a normie but once the Thanos arc had played itself out, I had seen all I needed to see. Fuck the rest of it. Even if they go back to full 2000s formula, I'm done. This is movies not comic books. This episodic thing was always gonna last but so long. After 25 movies human nature is gonna kick in and people are just gonna move on.
The M-She-U has become the WNBA of movies. They made something specifically so women could feel “equal”, then blame males for not watching while ignoring that women never came out to support their sex.
Women like the IDEA that there is something for "girls to aspire to beyond gender stereotypes". That doesn't mean THEY necessarily like these genres. It's about the THEORY for them.
Are you kidding? It's just like when they wouldn't step up and boycott having "transgender girls" competing in women's sports,at least until after a few girls got seriously injured competing against MEN. Wtf ladies? 🤷♂️
They bought a broken product way overpriced. The Star Wars prequels had already tanked that ship. Then they did the same with Marvel. They bought it while the peak was already in sight and after Endgame there was really no plan. I guess this is just what you do, when you have to much money and don't know what to do with it. Still, the movies are chump change compared to what they make in merchandise sales, so they probably don't care. I just checked: Estimates are, that Disney made 41 billion dollars with Marvel merchandise by 2020. Who cares about a box office flop with those numbers?
I agree. The Infinity Saga was (mostly) terrific. After that, with a couple exceptions, Marvel just seems rudderless. It's OK to try new things! But not at the expense of everything they have built so far.
I mean I haven't been super hero fatigued since I was 5. I'm 38 now. Then they started making trash like She-Hulk that explicitly broke the 4th and 5th wall to tell me, directly, that they aren't making movies for me anymore.
Yeah the people that made super hero movies so successful are never going to support the woke nonsense and the people they’re pandering to have no interest in super hero movies, regardless how hard they try to pander towards them, they could make a turbo gay trans biracial POC disabled mentally ill super hero and those people STILL wouldn’t go see it because at the end of the day they don’t want to watch super hero movies, they just want us to not enjoy things lmao. Plus they don’t want to be portrayed as anything other than the perfect sweet little innocent victims they are 🤮
Let me put it this way, there is no organized basketball, then the NBA appears, it gathers attention and breaks multiple records, then, there is a heavy focus on migrating from the NBA, to the WNBA, and people stop going to the games, sponsors drop, attention drops, profits drop, after that, the owners keep trying to push the WNBA harder and harder, and the only question they ask themselves is "Why people don't like basketball?" And come to the assumption that people lost interest in the sport and it was just an sporadic success, so every future project gets wiped because people don't like basketball.. That's Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Part of me actually hope it flops as a cherry on this shit sundae. Confirmation that the audience is pretty well done with it and Disney lies. I liked the other Deadpools, but I actually really dont care about this 3rd one. Clearly its going to poke fun and parody the Multiverse stuff but holy hell Im already way over it, even to make fun of at this point. Just go away. Ive seen Hugh Jackman as Wolverine for 20 years, my god, I dont care to see him even cameo. LOGAN was it. Done. Finished. But no, gotta dig up that corpse for another milking don't we. Its so fucking lazy.
This is like going to a restaurant with an all female staff, ordering a steak, getting given a bowl of porridge, and then getting yelled at by the wait staff, chef, and manager for not liking the meal.
@ColinFox "Excuse me, this isn't a steak. This is a literal plate full of garbage." Waitress, " You rascist, misogynistic, bigot. I'm going to speak to MY manager.
When I met my girlfriend, the first thing she wanted to do was have a MCU marathon. Her favorite hero is Captain America, and she was excited for Infinity War. She stopped caring when Captain Marvel came out. I don't think she's even seen yet. She's a normie, who wasn't interested in the comics, but she bought every MCU blu-ray. Now, she doesn't care. The MCU closed the book with Infinity War without giving us a reason to look to the future. They didn't even give us time to grieve Tony Stark before dropping the old guard and replacing it with women that most people didn't know.
Ive been saying that since Endgame. They should have had a few years break afterwards. Then start new saga with new heroes and those old ones who are left. But by building on a legacy of phases 1-3 and honouring them. Instaed,Marvel chose to crap all over heroes we grew to love over the years and basically tols us we loved the wrong and weak heroes all this time. What result did they expect?
It's not "super hero fatigue" from what I can see it's "bad movie fatigue". I've seen classic propaganda movies that are much more watchable than some of the recent movies.
A lot of people have been complaining about the amount of super-hero movies even a decade ago. So yes, there _is_ a super hero fatigue. One can still argue about whether it's the sole problem or not, but it definitely hit Disney and Sony pretty bad.
Additional issue: Women in film….no cleavage allowed! Women on the Red Carpet….hmmm. Is that a bit odd when women make their individual choices what they choose?
@@Dante02d12 it is not superhero fatigue thats causing this downfall. If they were putting out good super hero movies theyd still be selling well fatigue or not. The same thing happened to starwars
I'd still argue that there is superhero fatigue, but the lack of quality, direction, cohesiveness, etc. are absolutely compounding that and dooming even the good ones that may come. We're at the point that - aside from stellar works like No Way Home, even good movies may just be met with apathy and criticism because we're just tired. The fact that I love Marvel movies and haven't even cared to see the last three even on Disney + saddens me. I used to get excited. I used to cheer in the theaters and search out every Easter Egg. I don't anymore.
I completely understand that. There are good film makers there for sure, and you can see quality and morality fight it's way through sometimes, but as a company and an empire, they have become predatory and perverse toward children and families in a way that is absolutely depraved. It seems like a number of Star Wars properties, for example seem sound and safe, but I will not be leaving my children anywhere near anything with their name on it that I have not thoroughly and prayerfully screened myself. Perhaps your approach is simpler and better. I doubt you or any children in your life will be worse off for just ignoring anything with their name on it. I hope their evil and compromise costs them dearly.
But... but they are doing this all for you and your sisters! Don't you feel empowered? ( Their favorite word) . LOL . I don't suppose you re a blue haired extreme feminist.
Super Hero Fatigue is pure BS. If a new Iron Man movie came out with RDJ at the lead, if a Nolan Batman movie came out, if a real Super Hero Movie came out, people would go. DEI and focusing on terrible characters, is the true fatigue.
Those women in Madam Web couldn't even pronounce a single Spiderman movie correctly and they expect that their pathetic excuse of a movie will get a sequel??
Can only speak for myself, but I don't have "superhero fatigue". I have agenda-based movie fatigue. I still love superheroes, and if someone actually makes a good superhero movie again, where the focus is on the characters, action, and adventure, I'll be there. If not, I'll keep saving my money.
Speaking only for myself, I got a mixture of both. I watched a lot of superhero movies in the last decade or so, even those with female protagonists like Wonder Woman, Captain Marvel and Black Widow. But I did not watch each and every superhero movie that was released and I even didn't follow through with those "brands" I initially watched. I quit Dr. Strange after his first stand alone movie, I quit Thor after his second, I didn't watch Aquaman 2 or Ant-Man 3; heck, I didn't even watch GOTG 3 (yes, shame on me). And why? Because it needs more than just a sympathetic hero or hero team and a well done villain to convince me to buy a ticket. Honestly, the everyday life of a superhero isn't that interesting to be told in twenty different ways: "Oh, it's so complicated to be xxx and still have a normal life"; yeah, we know, we saw it in Tobey Maguire's films, we saw it with the Fantastic Four of 2005 and the 2007 F4 and the Silver Surfer. I'm not convinced their problems have much changed since then (except, it may be difficult to run an onlyfans account when you are an invisible woman). So, would I go and buy a ticket to an epic fantasy trilogy in which a flight of different heros must find a way to work together to defeat a nearly allmighty evil sorcerer who only needs his magical bracelet they happen to possess to conquer the world? Nah, I've got this on BluRay already. Maybe I wait for a story that's somehow ... new; like Dungeons & Dragons, Honour among thieves: that I liked. I definitly would say I'm a guy ( and old white male, to be precise) that's willing to give a female-led movie a chance. I've seen all three Lara-Croft-movies, even the one with Alicia Vikander, and liked them all. I wouldn't say that I mind a well done diversity switch; I loved Ghostbusters Legacy. I'm open for experiments: I will watch Joker 2 the musical. But I'm no Pavlov's dog that start drooling as soon as any studio puts out a generic sequel to a once original story. I will not go and watch John Wick 5 or Kung Fu Panda 5 (it is 5? I lost count), I'm not waiting for Equalizer 4 and I definitely would not go to a Captain Marvel 2 or Black Widow 2; rather I'd stay home and read all my Doc-Savage-books. Saying that, how about a real life Doc Savage adaption? That might be a film I'd like to see (as long as the cast isn't genderswapped too much) ...
This is kind of the problem I have with Deadpool 3. I wanna see it (it's a first movie in good 2 years that I wanna see based of the trailer), but at the same time I don't wanna pay Disney :} Also google supports putin
Lack of creativity. Dumb writers who don't, and won't read comics. Race and gender swapping instead of creating new stuff. I'm fatigued from all of it.
Absolutely. They engineer their own diminishing returns. Force agenda, then, blame fans for their failures, then have journalists say “superhero fatigue” to further buffer their own incompetence and come out blame-less by a “third party”
it's getting really old to keep hearing the blame put on the paying customer while at the same time calling us racist, sexist, and bigots for telling the truth. There were black superheroes before Black panther. No one had a problem with that. Some of my favorite action movies have leading female characters, such as Alien and The Terminator. I've never heard a man say those movies would've been better with a male lead... so how come all of a sudden we are being blamed for their poor performances and so many people are falling for it. Make better movies is not code. It really does mean simply, make better movies...
its real funny that they think continuing to attack us is going to bring us back. heres an idea that might, just might win people back. if you just apologized to us and admitted you were wrong.
Hell, the ACTUAL "first black superhero movie" and "first rated R superhero movie" was Blade. And Wes fucking slayed that role. It was over the top, it was campy af, it was as predictable as every 80s-90s action flick, AND PEOPLE LOVED IT. The vampire rave scene was so iconic that it inspired tons of late 90s and early 00s directors. We even had movies like Constantine that changed John to be dark-haired American with less sass and more cynical wit, but the movie was so well put together that that's the only way most people picture the character now. You can change things about he source material due to casting choices or even to "update" the story a bit, so long as you keep the spirit of the original character and surround the film production with people who enjoy the source material. If you make it with those kinds of people, then the fans of a character will come to see that character on-screen and bring their friends to show them why they think the character is cool.
Yes ! Going even further back, actual good talented actresses, with good writing and stories. And not made mannish, smug, and dressed in brown potato sacks. Nothing about these Disney female characters appeals to most women.
Yep. And I'm still finding the early MCU films (where I already know what happens) to be better than the most recent MCU films. Watching a good movie of any genre is not fatiguing.
100% this And personally I don't think I'll ever get superhero fatigue, i just love superheros too much for that lol And I don't think I'm alone in feeling that. I am however quite fatigued of movie makers shoving their political ideologies down the viewers' throats using beloved comic book franchises.
The REAL problem is that they are not making their movies the same anymore. What I mean is, if you watch “Winter Soldier” it’s a spy movie that just happens to have superheroes in it. “Endgame” was a heist movie with superheroes in it. THAT is what they need to do. Don’t write “superhero” movies. Mage a genre movie and then add the superhero. Dr Strange movies should be thrillers bordering on horror. So should the upcoming “Blade” movie. Any “Captain America” movie should be in the “spy” vein. Antman should be on the comical action side. THAT is what they did with the first batch that they haven’t done since “Endgame!”
I completely agree. They know focus on the hero and not the genre when telling the stories. Every hero in the beginning had movies that were completely different from each other. The first two phases every movie has a different feel to them. Now they’re all the same and bland.
@fizzbomb I don't know if it wrecked it, it certainly took away from it though. Between that and how boringly overpowered Marvel is... long battle, then she comes in and is like "oh, I'll just blow everything up"
Dizzy can't go under fast enough to suit me. They have shat upon the vast majority of Marvel and Star Wars fans and then blamed those fans for not enjoying the smell. They are beyond redemption, and only being broken up in bankruptcy and sold to companies that respect their audience and the source material will salvage these once-great franchises.
That’s what annoys me the most, we are the customers and they are trying to sell us the product. But the industry has gotten to the point where they expect us to willingly give them the money for whatever they produce.
Worst part.... People with tightest grip on the social, cultural and political future of west are the most unproductive people. Tribe bankers, "Hedge funds", "Media" and etc. They are telling engineers, architects, mathematicians biologists, doctors, physics, mechanics what they should do with theit hiring principles, where to spend their money....
I’m a former customer. They made these movies/shows/propaganda for women/trans/gay. Why aren’t they angry at women/trans/gay for not going to see them!?
It's like they don't realize that I'll only pay for a lecture on a subject I'm interested in and furthermore _I don't go to movies for a fucking lecture._
Yeah thats communism for ya. Force culture on you through a corrupt politicizing of classics, and then blame you for being sexist or racist. I am not sure how making the little mermaid black isnt cuktural appropriation. Then again I try to forget we sre living through a commjnist revolution.
Superhero Fatigue is as a term is something I’ve always hated. I knew from the beginning that eventually it would be adopted by the access media and Hollywood as a reluctant excuse as to why the movies are failing allowing them to keep to their idea that the girl boss is the way to go. It’s not the poorly written DEI scripts it’s “superhero fatigue”
Exactly I'm just as tired of woke sci fi and fantasy such as rings of power, witcher, wheel of time, Doctor who, star wars, star trek, etc. I wouldn't say I have fantasy fatigue or sci fi fatigue. I have Hollywood fatigue, I hate them, I hate what they value, I hate the stories they tell not the genres they tell it in.
Women don't watch superhero movies, yet they keep wanting to promote movies toward them. This is pure insanity. Captain Marvel made a lot of money because they marketed it as a sequel to the Avengers. I'm not sure who thought the movie was carried by a woman with no charisma.
Women absolutely watch superhero movies. What they don't watch is shitty movies. Neither do men, but execs seem to look at entirely the wrong reasons for why people are turning away.
Forced my wife to watch Godzilla in cinema, she was on her phone the whole time, too much human time on screen for me but was an okay movie. Different demographics like different things and big business knows this.
Nah a cancer is an aberration within the system. The zeitgeist, or the Spirit of the Age, has a perfect representative in Disney. It’s not an aberration; it’s a feature.
Indeed, entertainment is not their goal. Its dividing people in proud and brave and the people that don't agree with them are fascists and woman haters.
I like Emilia Clarke. She was great in Me Before You and was the only Game of Thrones star who supported the fanbase during the backlash, saying that she was just grateful that they cared so much. And honestly, I think she actually agreed with them because she was apparently heartbroken about what happened to Daenerys. Plus she was Zoidberg's girlfriend in a really sweet episode of Futurama. Emilia is a gem but she has admitted that her brain was permanently affected by 2 aneurysms she had in her 20s. It's actually remarkable that she still functions as well as she does after her brain burst TWICE but parts of it are missing. Maybe that's why she signed up for Terminator: Genesis, Solo: A Star Wars Story and the M-She-U.
@@tomnorton4277 I adore Emilia Clarke. Surely Marvel could’ve easily found a character for her that made sense, but they did...the dumbest thing possible with her because Girl Power!! was more important. It actually bothers me that she’s been in so many flops.
Honestly, the misandry at this point is just plane insane! Disney/sony make films written, produced, exclusively starring, directed by and targeted at girls and young women, and then when they fail, it's always men's fault! I wonder how much of this is a Disney or even Hollywood problem, and how much of this is just a general society hating men problem! This is why I avoid must stuff produced after 2017.
I irritates me these studios think that the women who always loved these franchises welcome the devolution of female characters into these terrible 1D mary-sues and that women who weren't interested before will become fans now in the age of garbage. Tell us your films are for women all you want Disney but none of this appeals to the women who've been fans for decades or women who weren't previously interested to begin with.
I stopped buying Marvel comics in 2015, the era of multiple covers and storylines smeared across multiple titles every darn month. I got out, it seems, just before the rot set in. I have fond memories of the old time bad-girl bosses like Hela, The Enchantress, Umar… interesting characters with intelligence, personal flaws, and a décolletage. The latest cutout, dress-up, wooden Mary Sues just do not appeal to me, although I’m frequently informed they’ve been created for my empowerment.
Agreed. And I think it's far from over yet. Society in general is struggling to admit this. Just check how many people talk about this subject in especific, not common. It is still some kind of taboo to say out loud the obvious: "society hates men". Even Nerdrotic doesn't openlly say it (despite the amazing content). But I guess we are getting there. I hope at least.
It's kind of hilarious that Marvel took a genre of movie predominately overrun with males, wrote movies that not only pander to the opposite demographic, but actively deride there core audience, and then surprise-pikachu-face when their main demographic doesn't show up and the pandered-to demographic doesn't care for that genre of movie still and doesnt show up either. There is plenty of love for superhero movies still. Maybe not Endgame levels, but what people dont go to the movies for is to be lectured and told they need to "do better." If I cant use the primary form of escapism to escape the woes of reality, why am I going in the first place?
"Superhero fatigue" comes from the media snobs who want superheroes to go away or the people can't tell good stories trying to find excuses on why it couldn't possibly be them.
I’ve always said that far left radicals are giddy that super hero movies are dying. They don’t like that there are make characters and plots that allow small boys to dream about being tough, competitive, reliable and, most of all, masculine. So they recruited the useful idiots in Hollywood to diversify these movies. It’s a win/win for the radical left. If the public likes “the message”, great, you’ve create a tolerable situation. If the movies collapse and go away, great you’ve rid yourself of cultural baggage that doesn’t suit your purposes.
@@charlestruppi7793That’s how they perceive the superhero lifestyle/ personality though. It’s more than that. It’s about putting yourself before others, being pure of heart, and never faltering from these aspects in life. It’s about always doing the right thing. It’s about the idea that even if you’re doing the right thing and everyone hates it… (Like the end of the Dark Knight.) That it is better to be hated and judged by 12, than to be carried by six. That they would rather risk their lives to stand for what they believe in, over giving up and lying still. This is the message that people should be getting from superhero stories. Star Wars too. I will never forgive Disney for what they’ve done to Star Wars. Unacceptable.
Strange how they never seem to want to target romance, dancing or musicals movies at men. They just try to turn action and superhero movies into something women like. Then fail badly and blame men.
Better yet just leave those genres alone because they appeal primarily to WOMEN and leave superhero movies alone because they appeal primarily to MEN. It’s pathetic Hollywood insist on having everybody sit around a table and share in all of the food ordered in a takeout. I ordered calamari and I’ve got some ass hat taking a portion of mine when they decided to order something I don’t even like and have no intention of eating! Men like men stuff women like women stuff it’s not that complicated
Like with Dr Who, they had already established that the Doctor had a daughter somewhere in time, they could have made a spin-off about her, but no, they had to turn the Dr. female. This mostly isn't about giv8ng something to women, it's about taking stuff away from men.
I'd legit go see a male oriented romance. It might look a lot like Lost in Translation, though. Quiet, depressed desperation from a distance, awkwardly trying to find a connection that will redeem his individuality.
I bet Sony wishes they had taken the $4B that was on the table for Spider-Man IP in 2019. How many No Way Home's do they need to reach that profitability?
unfortunately the rot is so deep it will probably just be sold to someone who will just do the same. now if it was sold to some independent party not part of the system. maybe theres a chance
Yep, just like when Marvel Entertainment was selling off characters to movie studios just to stay afloat! Disney is going to end up carving off hunks of the Marvel Studios eventually.
When we say "make better movies" what we mean is; We want to be entertained. We want to be taken away from the bleak dismal world that is our reality. We need good storytelling with characters that we can sympathize with and care for. What we don't want is to sit through 2+ hours for modern day cultural problems being rammed down our throats while being told we are the problem. Corporate greed is the problem both in the real world and the movies (remember, it's our fault we won't go see their latest piece of crap film). We can't afford decent housing/rent, groceries, child care, medical coverage, education - the list goes on. Tell us a story that takes us away from the horrors of our reality, that's what we want.
Not everyone live in the hellhole that is modern day USA. In most of the western world, health care, child care and eductation is completely free, or heavily subsidiced. We still want escapism, but everyday life is pretty good you know.
You live in idyllic conditions because your country doesn't spend 2-4% of it's GDP on military spending as a result of the pax americana. This is coming to an end because the US has finally overspent it's Treasury. Winter is coming.
@@eiriksandaas6702 There might be something there, I have to admit it's pretty hard for me to identify with american social issues, and I'm certainly not intending to take the blame for them.
Using the boys from Top Gear for the added laughs is the PERFECT juxtaposition of what quality entertainment looks like and what Marvel entertainment looks like. Just seeing and hearing Jeremy and Hammond laughing like that MADE ME LAUGH OUT LOUD right along with them. It didn't even have anything to do with what the articles behind them said...literally just seeing them laugh like that was enough to make me laugh. That is something that Marvel is TOTALLY INCAPABLE of doing these days.
Honestly I’m tired of people that obviously never liked comics being in charge of comic book movies. The people who are writing and directing this crap are the same people who shun and dismiss fans of the original lore.
Marvel should blame women not men, for the MCU failures. They didn't make the MCU for a 40-year-old man, according to Brie, they should redirect the blame towards women and LGBT who is their targeted audience.
Pivot just means to turn. It doesn't necessarily mean a total turn about, just people tend to hear it that way. And a train can make relatively sharp turns if the track runs that way. It's my immediate, but they can and do turn.
Filmmakers (and all writers) need to read “The 7 Basic Plots.” Lightbulbs will go off for them as he will tell them where modern storytelling has missed the mark by trying to ignore or “reimagine” what are actually every human’s ancient fundamental programming needs from stories. Honor the plots & the archetypes fearlessly, and moviemakers and authors will see an explosion in sales again. Harry Potter & LOTR are modern proof of this. For now, all have literally lost the plot!❤😂
It’s honestly wild if you watch a movie from say 2008 compared to now. These new movies try so hard to be funny , fail and then preach at you but keep getting pumped out. Who the hell are these damn characters ?
Ive watched Ronin(1998) more times in the last 6 months than i have all the Superhero movies since Endgame. Continue to financially boycott these movies
Indeed, its not about entertainment but about dividing people in good people (wokies, alfabet people, POC) and fascists (people that don't agree with them)
I keep thinking about Christmas Vacations Boss scene when Mr. Shirley is ending a biz phone call. "Retooling that's a great excuse. Retooling, I'll Retool You!" Haha
The industry has gone full regard over the past 10-15 years. Maximum hubris, minimum brains or talent anywhere to be found. Just a gaggle of tools and nepo-children of yuppie executives that churn out this vindictive, insulting garbage.
Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic; nope , no, not never: Pass . As Fiege holds the magic jawbone skyward and calls upon moloch to once again grant him the ability to get credit for all the ideas of other people he needs but cannot create , recognize or even understand ; Moloch says only: 'a diet of human hate and misery is the skill I choose you for do not fail me now as nerd rage is delicious and I desire MORE'.
I don't understand why they didn't get the dude from multiverse of lameness to play it again, he seemed really good in the part. Wasn't his fault it was a rubbish film
I don't get their stubbornness either. The audience is clear and loud - we do not want him, we won't go see your -product- movie. The movie has not yet been filmed yet, they could easily change the actor. Yet they're dead certain of it and will blame "bigots" for bombing a movie. Like the actual f?

@@balthazarasquithfrom what I understand he didn’t want the part. He did it as a one off for fan service. I for one don’t blame him. The MCU is a ship that’s barely floating thanks to Disney funding. That’s it.
I loved the end where you lay out plain and clear all the things that the fans didn't do, that the studios *did* do which has made their IP's plummet in value and kept seats empty.
As a woman, I'm getting real tired of these people telling me that I'm supposed to like what they deem is "for women". The female audience may be smaller than the male audience, but we're here for the same reasons as the men. We don't want shxt like "The Marvels"
Hi! here is how you can do your part to speak up for yourself. This crazy lady named Simone de Beauvoir wrote a bunch of things along the lines of "women are not born women, they're made into women" and "we can't give people the option between traditional living and independence, we must force women to become independent." basically all of the gripes people have about how demeaning it is to help out around the house and how "abused" women are come from her. You're a woman, if you go over some of her writing and say "this crazy lady said this and these academics are all running with it like it's gospel when it is really just psychobabble." chicks get real mad at dudes when we try to say "that's a load of crap" so the peer review system has utterly failed. please, you can do it. read de Beauvoir's writing and refute it. In videos or in writing. Anything.
I remember a time if a movie performed bad, the studio heads blamed the director and they would be banished into Hollywood phantom zone. They can yell it's the fans fault all they want. But if a movie cannot pull in the numbers, it's the movie, not the fans.
My favourite argument against “they hate strong women” is take a look at “The Boys” and “Gen V”, they all have badass female characters while giving them struggles to overcome and making them look and sound believable and most importantly LIKEABLE.
Terminator 1 and 2 were some of my favorite films including a strong female protagonist. Believable, flawed, maybe even overly jaded toward the end, but also highly adaptive and creative. Heck, she stages her own escape from the asylum that's pretty effective; more effective than anything most people could conjure up.
Side note: Nerdrotic I saw your video w/Critical Drinker & Benny Johnson and I must applaud you bro for 10 years sobriety. Huge motivation for me, especially how you remained sober in that setting.
Why is Pedro Pascal not playing The Thing. He said "I don't want my face shown on film. I like wearing a mask. Damn it the Thing is the perfect character for me'. Just kidding he was a prima-donna and demanded his face be shown so WTF up with this casting. They will have lines like 'Solve it, with some Math Stretcho." "I got this. I know 'the Maths. I'm Richard's after all, let me get Technical on it'. Whew, that is some smooth writing.
I have Disney fatigue. Not superhero fatigue. I still watch the MCU Movies that are good. Just rewatched Winter Soldier and Age of Ultron. Though some would call Ultron bad.
Whedon messed up by ceding Quicksilver to Fox. There was an easy, even "woke" fix, but they were all too petty to do it: Make Fox's speedster Northstar. Then you don't need to address his sister, and Marvelverse's Pietro gets to live.
These people keep making movies for an audience that doesn't exist! Only a TINY percentage of women go to see superhero movies (or Star Wars movies for that matter) and men don't go to see superhero movies that denigrate men. I can't wait for all these big studios go bankrupt and unwoke studios take over. 🍿
What they don't get is that it isn't about the female casting: It's about that the movies stinks. Many great movies have had strong female lead, The Alien franchise leaps to mind. Weaver played a strong woman that still was a woman and Ripley was badass without it being shoehorned into to the story. Sarah Conor was badass because she was a mother that was put in a situation where she needed to be. Point is, movie history has many great female leads but the difference is that they didn't try to put them into men's shoes. It.. simply.. doesn't.. work. End of story. People don't hate on female leads, they hate movies/series that sucks. Unfortunately they make it so easy to dislike them today. Edit: Even Starwars had a strong female co-lead from day one: Leia. She never denied her femininity, she was just a good leader.
They said the same thing about "western fatigue " with all of the western shows and movies from the 50's and 60's, until Eastwood came out with Josie Wales, a good and entertaining story is all you need
Terrible argument. The Western genre all but died in the 70s and has never recovered. They make a few here and there and they’re not exactly blockbusters. I’ll be happy when the superhero genre reaches that phase. This shit is boring.
I watched Lawrence of Arabia last week, you could roll every hollywad movie over the last 10 years(even 20) into a ball and not even come close to the epic scope of that film. There are so many great movies over the decades across the world you couldn't see them all in a lifetime, why waste 2+ hours of your life watching anything made by these derelicts.
The even more dangerous situation they have gotten into is that they can't just fire the female writers and directors that can't/won't do anything that isn't fem-centric without looking sexist, and those women can't/won't do anything male positive. They are going to die on that hill, on their sword.
"Strong Girl Bong Soon" (the original) is one of the best superhero origin stories I've ever seen. Hilarious, compelling, and just plain fun. Korea knows how to make fun fiction.
@@allthekingshorsesallthekin3234almost as if boy's really do like strong female characters 🤔🫠🫠 No it can't be that look at all the super duper Disney girls...😂😂😂
Most girls want to be a princess saved by pretty rich prince on a white horse/mercedes anyway... and this type of Disney stories are labeled as sexist now. Forget that most watched shit on Netflix are Korean Dramas (X years ago every housewife was watching Brazilian+ Dramas on TV) . Males love to watch people punching/cutting/shooting stuff. They will never change reality no matter how hard they try.
Except quoting Einstein. That's not an Einstein quote. That quote was from Civil Rights Leader Rita Mae Brown. Sorry for the "uh, actually...", but pet peeve.
Even my girlfriend is tired of seeing strong women in movies. Within our circle of friends, all the women want to see men and not weepy political messages to prevent a "patriarch". It must be noted that in a "male patriarchy" it wouldn't even be possible to produce such films. Women don't want to see such films, and men don't either. The women who produce such things should be sent along with the actresses to Afghanistan or Iran for a few years to relearn what it means to be equal.
I am a woman I love seeing strong woman in movies, cause not everytime there is going to be a man to save me. So women should be ready to protect themselves. Why is political when a woman is shown strong, and normal when a man is shown strong. Your mindset has an issue.
You don't speak for all women, if a woman says they're tired of seeing men shown strong in movies it's "wrong and toxic" but when a man says he is tired of seeing strong women in movies it's "okay, understandable, the boys".
@@BabyYodaBaby Its natural. Its proven by attendance that mayority don't think like you do and thats not profitable. Mayority of males love cars for some reason... does not mean that my exception will change reality.
@@BabyYodaBaby Nobody has a problem with strong female characters. The same people who hate current films loved Ripley from Alien, Sarah Conor from Terminator, Trinity from Matrix, Black Widow from the earlier Marvel films, The Bride in Kill Bill, Gwen Stacey from the Spiderverse movies, The Major from Ghost in the Shell, Elastigirl, Domino, Hit Girl (who is also 11 years old), etc. etc. etc. etc. every one of those characters has flaws, character dimension, a character arc, room to grow, things to overcome, fears, and so forth. The problem people have is with a flawless female character who is constantly talking about being oppressed and how men suck. it's just bad storytelling. These same people who don't like these types of films would be annoyed if the male characters were so boringly shallow.
It's not about women, it's about being incompetent, casting and hiring not based on anything professional but artificial reasons. And doing it with everyone involved, not just here and there. For example, Zendaya should never be cast in anything, but she is always surrounded by competent actors and professionals.
The only thing I can think of that would be similar to this would be if tampon company's targeted men with adds and then got mad when nobody used their product
You know.... Bud Light is trying to do the same thing. How's that working out???? IT'S NOT. Once you've destroyed your brand. Chances are, your customers are gone.
What’s sad is to fix all of Disneys problems… all they have to do is make good films…. Simple. You would think a powerful company like Disney would understand.
They get 90% of the loans from companies that uses ESG and DEI scores. No woke = no loans = IMMEDIATE bankruptcy. And since they are extremely into debt, they sadly have zero choice. Plus all the board LOVES woke shit. When and your bankers (Blackrock, Vanguard, Statestreet) and your board LOVES what they did till now. Of course it will stay the same or get worse. Kind of simple, but looks like people don't like to think about these, VERY SIMPLE, thinks. People have abandoned thinking???
I think they've decided that making good movies is not politically correct, lol. I mean, if they make an actual crowd pleasing movie, then it may even be enjoyed by people that have ::gasp:: wrongthink. Much safer to make movies that no one likes!
What's really sad, is if they were to actually go back to making the films the way we liked them before(normal and good), people will go right back to supporting them and giving them their money after they showed their cards on how they really feel about us.
Einstein didn't say that. Neither did Benjamin Franklin or Mark Twain. The first known instance was a 1981 text from Narcotics Anonymous: "Insanity is repeating the same mistakes and expecting different results."
When you hire people simply on arbitrary things like race and gender, rather than experience, passion, and creativity, then this is what you get. Nothing wrong with having diverse creators, but they can't be handed things without knowing what to do or how to do it. Nobody, NOBODY, should be handed things they haven't earned based on their race or gender in an effort to be "more diverse". Put in the work and time to earn it and you will be way more likely to produce something worth a damn that people will love when your time comes.
But, muh DEI!!!!! It’s perfect common sense. That’s how the world once functioned. Now with the push of “white man bad” we are in a current state of turds being shat out of every artistic industry like a machine gun. If women and minorities want their own stuff, that’s totally cool. Never been a better time to make those dreams come true. Just stop destroying existing franchises that people love in the name of diversity. Can’t even play a current AAA video game without identity politics shoved down my throat (unless it’s made by a Japanese dev.).
The reason for the poor box office numbers for Disney's projects is not that the fans are jerks. The blame rests solely on Disney and the idiots they hire. If the quality levels fall, folks will stop watching. And if the products are designed to inflict lame preaching on the audience, about which they disagree, and take a condescending tone while doing it, combined with an ignorant assumption that the basic premises of the preaching are just a given and inarguable, well, hubris has a cost.
The extreme losses we see are not from fatigue. It does affect it but the fact that they are renowned to not follow the stories that the movies / shows are supposed to be following. They also want to "tell their own totally different stories" but still say that they will "follow the material". It is one or the other, you either write your own story or you follow the written material. If the story is supposed to be about the Hulk, you don't write it that Spiderman becomes the Hulk without context of who the Hulk is. This total disassociation from a common story shows that the staff are totally inept to tell a cohesive story. That and blocking themselves behind their own politics. They hire incompetent people to tell the story because they either do not believe in the project or have opposing ideas to what the story should be.
Great video. I grew up being a huge comic book and star wars fan. As sad as it was, over the past 10 years I've been watching those movies less and less until now I don't have any streaming services to watch them, I don't go see them in theaters and I don't by them when they are released. I get all my info on them from videos like this, and it's great. It's like watching a sinking ship in the distance (and wondering how they've slowed the sinking so much).
Disney forgets they had decades of massively profitable animated movies with the overwhelming majority starring princess leads. Make good stories, go back to basics. Period.
Go woke go broke!!!! DJT
Don't say that, they'll take it as "Remake what has already worked some more" instead of hiring actual creative types to make something that's both cool AND new. More of the same but slightly different, more revenge for the oppression of women, all that gets put first when creativity dries up.
Those weren't princesses. Those were girl bosses!

Yeah but those were BAD role models because they were saved by princes!
Biggest change they are heading in the right direction? FIRE KATHLEEN KENNEDY! She thought she could force girls empowerment and woke culture down our throats with no backlash. Telling me "If you don't like these movies, you're a sexist" isn't making me want to watch the movies any more. It's making me identify as a sexist.

thats the big disconnect between us and them they don't think making everyone black, gay and a woman is political. its just being "inclusive" no one cared that they made Hiemdal black in 2011 because we knew there wasn't an agenda behind it Idris Elba was just a great actor. if they pulled something like that today everyone would raise an eyebrow because they have done it so often at this point we know what they are up to. a race or gender bend can work. look at Battlestar Galactica the female Starbuck is way more popular than her original male counterpart

I wouldn’t even call it writing. It’s propaganda-driven drivel, at best.
It's both

It is contempt-of-your-audience fatigue.
It's all they've got. 🤡
Are you kidding? It's just like when they wouldn't step up and boycott having "transgender girls" competing in women's sports,at least until after a few girls got seriously injured competing against MEN. Wtf ladies? 🤷♂️
Could be worse. There could be people out there thinking WNBA teams could be NBA teams.
They don't know what women want - these girl-boss Mary Sues do nothing for me, anyway. I'd rather watch Captain America or Thor any day.

Can't Disney just disappear into the shadows...how are they still afloat ??

It’s not Super Hero fatigue. I say Stupid Hero fatigue, due to targeting the wrong demographic and bad storytelling/script writing.
I think I just have narcissistic asshole fatigue in general. Unsurprisingly their movies are also terrible.
Don't blame you for having that thought. These companies are setting the bar so low, an amateur can look like a pro easily.
Neither have they.
All you really need to do is focus on a great story and don't let anything else get in the way.
This was scathing and I loved every second of it. They need to work on getting more women to show up to their own movies 😅
These people couldn't run a bath
"M-She-U" and "Mary Sue-icide" has more creative thought put into it than whatever things Disney released so far
What are the 5 best MCU titles? How many of them are from Disney?
Imagine if a guy said that “I loved working with the all the male producers, male characters, male villains. It was wonderful” it’s so cringe
Also, possibly something else. I think there's already a segment of the "movie" industry that caters to such demography.
it makes me want to barf. It is so gross. And you are right- if men did the same thing there would be riots in the streets.

Part of me actually hope it flops as a cherry on this shit sundae. Confirmation that the audience is pretty well done with it and Disney lies.

Avengers Endgame was actually MCU Endgame.
Or care about.
I also stopped with Infinity War. Thanos won, the end.
Additional issue:
Women in film….no cleavage allowed!
Women on the Red Carpet….hmmm.
Is that a bit odd when women make their individual choices what they choose?
At least Leni Riefenstahl knew how to make movies and yes, she was really good.
As a woman, I will continue to savor Disney's failures and downfall, while not giving them a dime.

This is kind of the problem I have with Deadpool 3. I wanna see it (it's a first movie in good 2 years that I wanna see based of the trailer), but at the same time I don't wanna pay Disney :}

it's getting really old to keep hearing the blame put on the paying customer while at the same time calling us racist, sexist, and bigots for telling the truth.
"Make better is not code." you forget they are women, everything is code.

To be fair, I find that old John Wayne movies or movies made in the 50s are superior to 90% of movies made in the last decade or so. @@jjones2582

And personally I don't think I'll ever get superhero fatigue, i just love superheros too much for that lol And I don't think I'm alone in feeling that.
Great point. They're so damn formulaic now because they've done enough to know what gets retweets.
I completely agree. They know focus on the hero and not the genre when telling the stories. Every hero in the beginning had movies that were completely different from each other. The first two phases every movie has a different feel to them. Now they’re all the same and bland.
Endgame and the girlpower theme finished the whole shebamg for me. Terrible movie.
@fizzbomb I don't know if it wrecked it, it certainly took away from it though.
Between that and how boringly overpowered Marvel is... long battle, then she comes in and is like "oh, I'll just blow everything up"
Well said. The Dark Knight is a definitely crime drama and Logan is a Western.
We're also customers. The entitlement of studios to think they can serve slop and we'll pay for the privilege.
I'm not a customer. I don't give people money that hate me.
They will never admit they are wrong. They will declare victory, even over the ashes of their once great companies as they burn them to the ground.
And they are also in government. That should worry everyone.

I really like seeing tiny Emilia Clarke flexing a giant Drax arm. It’s everything that makes the M-She-U what it is, in a single image.

I have about the same cut-off date. I stopped giving them my time and money right after Rogue One - the only GOOD modern Star Wars movie.
Fan fiction clubs warned fans to avoid Mary Sue decades ago. Now, self-insert has taken over Hollywood.

I've always called it shitty movie fatigue
This is 100% done on purpose to remove superheroes off the map.
We dont have "superhero fatique", we have "shitty propaganda scams sold as real movies" fatigue
All this just remind the Bill Burr segment about the WNBA. “We gave you a womens team, but none of you showed up. So you women failed yourself!” 😂😂😂
Women DO NOT like when men have fun. It's a fact.

Filmmakers (and all writers) need to read “The 7 Basic Plots.” Lightbulbs will go off for them as he will tell them where modern storytelling has missed the mark by trying to ignore or “reimagine” what are actually every human’s ancient fundamental programming needs from stories.

After Sony saw the marvels they said hold my bud light.
😂
😂😂😂
It's not about women, it's about being incompetent, casting and hiring not based on anything professional but artificial reasons. And doing it with everyone involved, not just here and there.
For example, Zendaya should never be cast in anything, but she is always surrounded by competent actors and professionals.
The only thing I can think of that would be similar to this would be if tampon company's targeted men with adds and then got mad when nobody used their product
This is SUCH a good analogy!
Just watch, this clown society will be selling male tampons soon.
This is a terrible analogy. Only vaginas need tampons. Superheroes weren’t made exclusively for men.
At this point, they could make the 200 best movies ever made
in a row
and I still will not watch even one of them
They get 90% of the loans from companies that uses ESG and DEI scores.
"Chief architect", Kevin Feige hilarious!
The jerks are Hollywood narcs that slap well known brands onto their trashy political fan-fiction like we didn't notice
They are just not making them right. Woke agendas break the fourth wall and disconnect the viewer from the viewing experience
Man that brings back memories.
So many quotes i heard from my father while growing up which were from Einstein or some other wise figure in history.
