- It's profusely hot outside and so we went to a convenience store and bought far more ice cream than we should have. Then we went to the park and ate it on camera. Here's what Japanese Ice Cream tastes like. Spoiler: it's great!

awwe guys sorry to disappoint but Canada hasn't changed much when it comes to ice cream. Although around the corner from me i can get a really nice either red bean ice cream or green tea ice cream. But i agree with Martina if your hot you want like good old Mr. Freeze freezies or just popsicle pete popsicles cuz they are cheap! Rockets were good too from the Dickie Dee(remember hearinh those bells and all the kids would run home to ask for ice cream money) lol! Anyhoo much love from Newfoundland!

Japanese ice cream is so yummy!!! Simon and Martina, next time you should try ICE BOX (it's a cup filled with flavored ice cubes) and GARIGARI-KUN (it's a blue soda-flavored popsicle).
Both are super refreshing and perfect for summer! (I also don't want something creamy when it's hot, I want something citrusy and refreshing.) You can find them in lots of vending machines and convenience stores.
I second the Garigari-kun, especially when they come out with their limited popsicles like spaghetti and cream corn soup flavor. Also need to try azuki bean popsicles.

Good luck guys for surviving Tokyo summer! My first summer in Tokyo, I had to literally go back to Hawaii until it got cooler. At least it's a good excuse to eat lots of ice cream through the summer!

+Adam Ant For those of us who live at the equator, we do sports outdoors at 32-34 degrees most of the time. I do distance running outdoors under that temperature, and used do archery outdoors under the sun from 9am to 4pm every Saturday. Below 25 degrees? That is like air-conditioned luxury temperature to us.

Why did this turned out to be a fight for something stupid as this? Thank God for AC and Heaters! Well 18-25 for us is luxurious as Avalon have said, anything below 5 is just painful for us. 5-15 is bearable as long as its daytime, but as I found out in the highest mountain here when trying to sleep, it hurts my bones lol.

My favorite American convenience store ice cream treat is the chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich. This type of treat is manufactured by several different companies such as Nestle’s Toll House (my fav), Blue Bunny (offers a standard & value size), and the latest is Mrs. Field’s. When taken right out of the freezer it’s a bit hard, so I eat it about 5 min. or so after I buy it, when it’s a bit softer and the creaminess of the ice cream can be enjoyed . If I wait too long it’ll be too messy, because the ice cream will get too soft and ooze out when I take a bite. M & M ‘s has a cookie ice cream sandwich also, but I prefer the chocolate morsels more than the candy coated chocolate when it comes to this type of ice cream treat.

The ice cream you had in the beginning was the first ice cream bar I purchased when I visited Japan. My mind was blown. Lol. I was asking myself why they didn't make things like this in Toronto! Such a good concept and no dripping ice cream meltiness!
Awww! I grew up eating that 1st ice cream, Choco Monaka. Loved it, also at the ice skating rink we used to go to on weekends, they had this vending machine with ice cream tubes (similar to a push pop ice cream) and I'd get a mint chocolate chip one every time ^.^ thanks for all the nostalgia!

+Grace Tien I have found that they are called Otter Pops in California but called Freezies in Minnesota. I believe it is a geographical thing, just like pop/soda/coke. The first time someone asked me about otter pops when I came to California I was so confused.

So, what you're saying is...Japan's summer is a lot like Minnesota's. Not just heat, but humidity-saturated air from all that water. Seriously, some days here, you can throw yourself against a wall and stick, like you were perfectly cooked pasta. And yeah, those are the days when you feel cooked, too.

I was stationed in Japan for 5 years and this was a nostalgia trip for me. The first ice cream and the Pino ice cream kinda made me tear up because I miss it so much.

I live in Georgia, and it's mega hot here, but when I visited Galveston, TX, I could barely breathe because of the humidity.
I miss the Texas heat!! I don't miss the electric bills for the a/c tho. And I don't miss the time the a/c went out in my car and it was 114ºF/45ºC and I was stuck in traffic, yes I did strip down to the bare necessities. Maybe I just miss the idea of the heat since it's cold so much of the time in the Netherlands, my current home.

My favourites from my trip there (excuse the lack of official names) included a watermelon flavour Popsicle which had the appearance of a watermelon slice with actual chocolate pips. I also loooovvvveeed the kiwi and vanilla flavour coolish (sorry guys!) maybe the strawberry one is the worst but I swear give the others a try :) loved this video, as always

I went to Japan for Christmas 2014, of course all seasons are the best seasons for icecream. You gotta try the triangle shaped crepe ice cream, I got it in a combini. It's literally ice cream, wrapped in a crepe, wrapped in metal-plastic wrap, with a big crepe printed on the packaging so you can't mistake what it is. And try the strawberry icecream choco bar on a stick! It's got this powerful badass feel about it! *sigh* boy do I miss the mochi icecream and most of all pino's T~T I hope we see a part two!!
In Austria we had a cheap vanilla ice cream that looked like a piece of cheese on a stick with holes and everything. It was called cheezy of course. After it was discontinued in the late 90s or early 2000s, someone created a facebook site called "bring back cheezy" and they really brought it back, but without the holes. It's pretty good, tastes like childhood :)

In Germany we have Kaktus-Eis, which isn't made from an actual cactus , but is a posicle with different layers of vaguely fruity flavours and on top there's a coating of bubblegum and pop rocks. It is really good, and like 50-80 cents a piece. If you're not into the bubble gum and pop rock coating, you can get the same popsicle, but in the form of one of the hands with the index finger extended people wave at sports events in the US. It's called Flutschfinger (I'm 22 and I still giggle at that name).
Monoka is DELICIOUS! The ramen shop I frequent to actually sells these! I deconstruct the entire thing and eat it. I'm so jealous you have them readily available!

I’ved live in japan for 7 in a half years and i loved the coolish. And yes from the convenient store. I’d rather you try the vanilla flavor of the coolish. The icecreams from the vending machines are soooo good. The quality is worth it 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻. The reason why the coolish tasted bad is beacause you have’nt eated right after you got it. The heat was so hot that it melted the shaved ice in it. It happened to me too. Anyways love your channel so much that i pressed subscribe before i even watched one of your videos. Love you guys!
