It's really hot so we're going to eat a lot of Japanese ice cream, but we're going to do it on camera so we can at least feel like we accomplished something.
Japanese ice cream is so yummy!!! Simon and Martina, next time you should try ICE BOX (it's a cup filled with flavored ice cubes) and GARIGARI-KUN (it's a blue soda-flavored popsicle). Both are super refreshing and perfect for summer! (I also don't want something creamy when it's hot, I want something citrusy and refreshing.) You can find them in lots of vending machines and convenience stores.
I second the Garigari-kun, especially when they come out with their limited popsicles like spaghetti and cream corn soup flavor. Also need to try azuki bean popsicles.
Good luck guys for surviving Tokyo summer! My first summer in Tokyo, I had to literally go back to Hawaii until it got cooler. At least it's a good excuse to eat lots of ice cream through the summer!
haha the whole time Martina was complaining how hot it was but when you look at the women in the backround they even waer jackets or cardigans over their clothes
that fruit bar looks so good! i see orange and strawberry but what else is it made out of? i really want to make some. :) If no one knows i might just use lemonade.
awwe guys sorry to disappoint but Canada hasn't changed much when it comes to ice cream. Although around the corner from me i can get a really nice either red bean ice cream or green tea ice cream. But i agree with Martina if your hot you want like good old Mr. Freeze freezies or just popsicle pete popsicles cuz they are cheap! Rockets were good too from the Dickie Dee(remember hearinh those bells and all the kids would run home to ask for ice cream money) lol! Anyhoo much love from Newfoundland!
Am I the only one who thinks Martina dying because how cold the ice cream is is the most hilarious/adorable thing on earth? "Ducky has sensitive teeth. Ducky has sensitive everything." Chortles!
My brain automatically made up this complicated J-drama/anime story for them... Like she's waiting forever, and he's late, and he tries to get her to forgive him by acting cute... What happens next?
I like those mochi ice cream and I like those Melona bars. Especially the honeydew one. They taste like as if you were drinking milk honeydew bubble tea.
hey guys!! I just finished my course enrolment for u of t!! I am so excited to be going to the same uni as you guys :D Where was your favourite place there? I'd like to go there when school starts
+잼과일 (과일잼) ah! I also spent a lot of time studying in the 4th floor of Robarts. And in Hart House as well. And in just about every library I could find :)
+Simon and Martina *furiously taking down notes* Yeah, Robarts will probably become my second home :'D all nighters, here I goooo! I heard that there was a gym at Hart House so I might go there to not gain that freshman 15 (because I can see myself eating a tub of icecream due to stress)
I know you don't live in Korea anymore but I just watched the Jaws gateway drug to street food video and you said you would like to make a video on how to make ddok-boh-kee, it would be so awesome to see how you make it! I live in America and woild love to try it in my lifetime! Thanks so much! You guys cheer me up and bring so much positivity!
The ice cream you had in the beginning was the first ice cream bar I purchased when I visited Japan. My mind was blown. Lol. I was asking myself why they didn't make things like this in Toronto! Such a good concept and no dripping ice cream meltiness!
this is the first time ive seen one of your videos n it was really fun!! i liked seeing a bit of the scenery around you in this too & you seem like rly nice people!!

+Grace Tien I have found that they are called Otter Pops in California but called Freezies in Minnesota. I believe it is a geographical thing, just like pop/soda/coke. The first time someone asked me about otter pops when I came to California I was so confused.
I was stationed in Japan for 5 years and this was a nostalgia trip for me. The first ice cream and the Pino ice cream kinda made me tear up because I miss it so much.
Awww! I grew up eating that 1st ice cream, Choco Monaka. Loved it, also at the ice skating rink we used to go to on weekends, they had this vending machine with ice cream tubes (similar to a push pop ice cream) and I'd get a mint chocolate chip one every time ^.^ thanks for all the nostalgia!
My favorite American convenience store ice cream treat is the chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich. This type of treat is manufactured by several different companies such as Nestle’s Toll House (my fav), Blue Bunny (offers a standard & value size), and the latest is Mrs. Field’s. When taken right out of the freezer it’s a bit hard, so I eat it about 5 min. or so after I buy it, when it’s a bit softer and the creaminess of the ice cream can be enjoyed . If I wait too long it’ll be too messy, because the ice cream will get too soft and ooze out when I take a bite. M & M ‘s has a cookie ice cream sandwich also, but I prefer the chocolate morsels more than the candy coated chocolate when it comes to this type of ice cream treat.
+Adam Ant For those of us who live at the equator, we do sports outdoors at 32-34 degrees most of the time. I just couldn't do it!
Why did this turned out to be a fight for something stupid as this? Thank God for AC and Heaters! Well 18-25 for us is luxurious as Avalon have said, anything below 5 is just painful for us. 5-15 is bearable as long as its daytime, but as I found out in the highest mountain here when trying to sleep, it hurts my bones lol.
koushinproductions WHat? O.o Who's fighting? We're just having a fun discussion about heat and cold and what people get used to. Whoa! Take a few deep breaths. No one's attacking anyone here.
I went to Japan for Christmas 2014, of course all seasons are the best seasons for icecream. You gotta try the triangle shaped crepe ice cream, I got it in a combini. It's literally ice cream, wrapped in a crepe, wrapped in metal-plastic wrap, with a big crepe printed on the packaging so you can't mistake what it is. And try the strawberry icecream choco bar on a stick! It's got this powerful badass feel about it! *sigh* boy do I miss the mochi icecream and most of all pino's T~T I hope we see a part two!!
Again you guys were successful at making me crying with laughter I really love you guys thanks for putting smiles on mine and tones of other people's faces 😘😘😍❤️❤️
They're in the UK too!! So good! Can you get the multipacks in Solvakia with a mix of green and red ones? The red ones are amazing. But they're so tiny :(
Simon! How can you not like mint? Mint and Chocolate is just amazing. We have a local Asian market that has an ice cream case that I will now be hitting next trip. Fun video guys. ^_^
nippononna Yes but the company started in Japan making it Japanese. I just wanted to help you by sharing what I know so there's no need for this comment tbh.
Monoka is DELICIOUS! The ramen shop I frequent to actually sells these! I deconstruct the entire thing and eat it. I'm so jealous you have them readily available!
XDDD my calculator but that has been lost since may 😂 I lose things easily 🙈 that is why everything I own is either pink or covered in stickers , so it catches my attention 😅😅
In Austria we had a cheap vanilla ice cream that looked like a piece of cheese on a stick with holes and everything. It was called cheezy of course. After it was discontinued in the late 90s or early 2000s, someone created a facebook site called "bring back cheezy" and they really brought it back, but without the holes. It's pretty good, tastes like childhood :)
In Germany we have Kaktus-Eis, which isn't made from an actual cactus , but is a posicle with different layers of vaguely fruity flavours and on top there's a coating of bubblegum and pop rocks. It is really good, and like 50-80 cents a piece. If you're not into the bubble gum and pop rock coating, you can get the same popsicle, but in the form of one of the hands with the index finger extended people wave at sports events in the US. It's called Flutschfinger (I'm 22 and I still giggle at that name).
I miss the Texas heat!! I don't miss the electric bills for the a/c tho. And I don't miss the time the a/c went out in my car and it was 114ºF/45ºC and I was stuck in traffic, yes I did strip down to the bare necessities. Maybe I just miss the idea of the heat since it's cold so much of the time in the Netherlands, my current home.
I was in Japan during July of last year, so I definitely feel you about the heat. It was so hot, and all I had was jeans (no shorts!!!). My favorite cold treats when I was there was the strawberry cheesecake vending machine ice creams (soooo goooood), as well as shaved ice (strawberry and cream is good) and snow ice (which is shaved ice cream). I strongly recommend trying the shaved and snow ice, they are sooo good.
This is so crazy!!! this is bringing back memories, me and my sister visited that exact same place when we were in Japan last. i also orded an ice-scream from a vending machine there, and we went on a row boat~~
lol I thought that you guys might do one but if you guys are not sure about it yet that is ok. =) But if you do make one I'm sure it will be great! It's a fun game and I would love to see your guy's reaction to catching a few =)
+Simon and Martina Nah, don't do it. I'm already sick and tired of being surrounded by all these videos and youtubers playing (and- my phone and Android version is too old so, I personally can't play)
0agneska0 Sorry you can't play but many people that can download it can't play either because they live in rural areas. I'm kind of in the same boat. I have the game but I can't really play it unless I get a ride into town. But I understand too alot of videos of people playing it and it kind of get old but I would love to see Martina get Squirtle or Pikachu lol I'm sure her reactions would be super cute lol.
yeah, I actually wouldn't mind one from them but cuz I think this topic fits these youtubers quite well. what I am is a bit disappointed at how many of them are simply 'sizing the opportunity', trends can be so monotone these days. I'll add that I can't play it either lol, and I don't think it'll be available any time soon down here in Argentina
:D my toothpaste doesn't have mint in it and i love every single sweet stuff with mint. coincidence? i don't think so ^^ and no to eating toothpaste! :>
I’ved live in japan for 7 in a half years and i loved the coolish. And yes from the convenient store. I’d rather you try the vanilla flavor of the coolish. The icecreams from the vending machines are soooo good. The quality is worth it 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻. The reason why the coolish tasted bad is beacause you have’nt eated right after you got it. The heat was so hot that it melted the shaved ice in it. It happened to me too. Anyways love your channel so much that i pressed subscribe before i even watched one of your videos. Love you guys!
MY hubby and I love to walk with our basset hound Jem to our convenience store for banana Popsicle! :D Wonderful video like always. Onto see the bloopers!
The vanilla ice cream from those squeezable containers that you can buy from vending machines were literally my favorite snack thing when I visited Japan
I think the least expensive ice cream in Norway is Krone Is, which back in the day just cost 1 NOK. they're actually really good though! there's chocolate crammed into the bottom of the cone that warms up as you eat it and lines the inside of the cone. The rest is vanilla ice cream with either strawberry jam or chocolate with nuts sprinkled on top, and both options are really tasty.
@Simon and Martina 09:44 Apparently eating while you're walking in public goes against Japanese social etiquette. Really enjoying your Japanese adentures! Big love from Brazil!
Martina, I totally understand the hair sticking to sweat on your face & RIP makeup! Living in Singapore(where you and Simon have been to in 2013, so you know how erratic our weather is), that is what I struggle with every single day. That's why I don't wear face makeup at all, and only use the occasional waterproof eye and brow makeup. Doing a full face makeup means ending up like a wet sweaty mess at the end of it. We have all sorts of ice cream in convenience stores in SG. My favourite would be the Magnum Ice Creams, mostly a creamy ice cream encased in Chocolate on a stick! Magnum Gold and Magnum Salted Caramel are my top picks! I'd love to try the Choco Monaka and the Lotte Ghana! The wafer/chocolate encasing the creamy ice cream🍦!😍
Could REEEEEEALLY go for that fruit bar right about now.
same
Ikr
It looks really good but what are you supposed to do with the orange peel?
@@iamdisgusted I love your name, and that fruit bar looks delicious.
@@MewKage13 thanx babe😊

I really like you guys! You guys make my days so much brighter❤️❤️❤️

Yeah that’s true, but Japanese people(and most asian people) sweat less
that fruit bar looks so good! i see orange and strawberry but what else is it made out of? i really want to make some. :) If no one knows i might just use lemonade.
It is orange, grape, apple, and strawberry! Lemonade would be good though 🍊
+fondasaurusrex ooooo! im about to go to the store and ill try those flavors... :) thanks!
+fondasaurusrex But what's the fifth fruit? What's the fifth fruit?!
+katie kawaii I thought it was 4 fruit and they accidently said 5? Im not sure haha
Yeah but what are you supposed to do with the orange peel?
Thank you +MissDichotomy for the English subtitles. It's super helpful. We really appreciate it. Thank you!

you just forced me to like this video!!!
+Simon and Martina are there different flavors of all the ones that you both tried?
Oh these were the days. 💙
I got distracted with the couple in the backround lol
Same, they totally reminded me of any jdrama couple😂
My brain automatically made up this complicated J-drama/anime story for them... Like she's waiting forever, and he's late, and he tries to get her to forgive him by acting cute... What happens next?
Or she doesn't care because she's catching Pokemon...
where?
Glad to see I wasnt the only one to notice them !
And again, +Basia Siemianowska: you're wonderful. Thank you for making Polish subtitles for this :D

I feel you Martina, I was in Japan July 8-15 and I literally died every day because of the humidity. Kudos for sticking it out!
Vending Machine ice cream? My life has changed! Forever
You live in africa??
Bro my high school has a ice cream vending machine in the cafeteria. We have snapple and a regular one too.
we still got freezys here in canada (you know the little tube ones)

By far i love the Drumsticks by Nestle especially the ones without nuts on them and with chocolate syrup in them.
Simon's gasp at the end! LOL

Korea was hot? Damn Canadians.. I live near the equator, I guess you guys will melt here, hahahaha.

Can you get the multipacks in Solvakia with a mix of green and red ones? The red ones are amazing. But they're so tiny :(
ChrissiTea we have the full size red ones but I don't really like them
Hands down in Australia the "Milo scoop shake" is the absolute right of passage ice cream.
Simon! How can you not like mint? Mint and Chocolate is just amazing. We have a local Asian market that has an ice cream case that I will now be hitting next trip. Fun video guys. ^_^
You're such a rad duo and you make the coolest videos. I'm so happy you were in my recommended section.
Can there be a part two please? :) i love all your videos!! And ice cream❤️😆😄
+juliapanda depends! If people like this video, we'd love to do another like it, as an excuse to eat more ice cream :D
That would be AWESOME!!! :D
all the food in Japan looks good lol
No shame in needing to call it early. You can always do a part 2
4:25 "Coolish" is of a Korean company called LOTTE ( ロッテ ) ...
Lotte is Japanese but expanded to South Korea.
Koreans invented all the Japanese culture

Lotte is owned by a Korean family.
nippononna So fucking what. Lotte products in Japan are created by Japanese employees.
nippononna Yes but the company started in Japan making it Japanese.

"do u need a little sippy cup?"
lol I got reminded of Melanie Martinez- Sippy cup
SAME!!!
wow so crazy xDDD i wonder why you would be reminded of that, not like they have the same name or anything
Natasha Burdette what doesn't hv the same name?😂 I'm lOsT with the ambiguous use of the pronoun 'they'
I thought of Bunny when she say's "sippy, sippy" almost every time she takes a drink of something.
Matyme OMG YEAH!!😲 I didn't think about that bc I haven't watched grav3yardgirl in a while now😂😂

So... confirmed Japan and Virginia have the same kind of summer (hot as fuck and humid as a sauna)?
come to Central Texas, baby it's worse. I would kill to be in Japanese heat cuz Texas is not playing games

Maybe I just miss the idea of the heat since it's cold so much of the time in the Netherlands, my current home.
Cassandra you can have Texas, and i'll take the Netherlands. I love cold weather:)
Spicy Ramyun where do you live, cuz I wanna go
1:45 "you have sensitive everything" ( ͡º ͜ʖ ͡º)
I SCREAM U SCREAM GIMME GIMME THAT ICE CREAM!
That girl was not picking up what kid was putting down.
Here in Germany even the cheap ice cream tastes delicoious... Hahahaha
Yep, same in the States! I can't think of any cheap ice cream I've ever had that was bad.
+Elizabeth Barone how does ice cream taste bad tho like not flavour wise
+Elizabeth Barone Wrong. Aldi ice cream bars taste like crap.
Alexuh andra I've never had those. Their Belmont carton ice cream is pretty damn good, though. MOOSE TRACKS 😍
Ice cream in Germany from Aldi is really good. I had Ice cream where you by 2 plastic glases with ice cream in it and this was sooooooooo good
America still has the cheap $2 box of Popsicles you freeze your self and they taste like shit
This video made me so hungry! Also, I especially love your hair in this video, Martina!
I really like those tubs with twisty caps that have like frozen ice versions of hundreds and thousands in them. so refreshing.
is this the only major channel on TH-cam that hasn't put out a PokeGo video yet?
as far as I've seen...
hear hear!
+Lorenzo - ha! Everyone's doing it, and so I'm not sure how I feel about doing one of our own...
lol I thought that you guys might do one but if you guys are not sure about it yet that is ok.
I dont like mint too! Tastes like toothpaste! I know toothpaste has mint in it. YOU DONT EAT TOOTHPASTE!
I tried those bamboozle jellybean thingies and i kinda liked their toothpaste flavor
same
One of my favorite flavors out there is mint hahaha. Mint ice cream, chocolate, pudding, I don't care, I'll eat it.
:D my toothpaste doesn't have mint in it and i love every single sweet stuff with mint. coincidence? i don't think so ^^
and no to eating toothpaste! :>
Exactly
you two are so cute and funny =) subscribe~~
+AYW yay! Welcome to our channel :)
Omg the Choco Manaka was amazing!! It was the only ice cream my mom actually loved and recommended to me when we were in Japan. I miss it lol.
🙄 I don't know what your talking about Martina.... messy keyboards..what? need sippy cup what?
lol ikr 😂
you should see malaysia/ perth hot
Malaysia is so hot
Perth is like "WTF WHERE ARE THE CLOUDS"
MY hubby and I love to walk with our basset hound Jem to our convenience store for banana Popsicle! :D Wonderful video like always. Onto see the bloopers!
The vanilla ice cream from those squeezable containers that you can buy from vending machines were literally my favorite snack thing when I visited Japan
I want all of the ice cream... and Martina's sunglasses! So cute!
Big love from Brazil!
you guys r the best personality couple on youtube !!
It's not anything new but Snicker ice cream bars and Twix ice cream bars are really amazing. Honestly craving ice cream now guys thanks!
I love Martina. She's SO adorable!
My favorite thing to eat in the summer is Snickers ice cream bars and Twix ice cream bars As a treat not as a steady diet
I tried the first treat with red beans in the middle while I was in New York City!! It was so good!
Make a part 2! and omg Martina your sunglasses!
I like how your videos lined up with my experiences in japan. Been here for 6 months and loving it!
+robert carlo oh cool! You got here in January as well?
February actually and loving every second of it. And I'm really enjoying your content as well.
