    I’m 64, and boiled dinner just brings back fond memories of childhood. The smells, the flavours and the love mom put into making dinner for her family. Watching your video just made me happy. Thanks. ❤️

    You might not be a pro chef but you definitely seem to know what foods go for the season! Even my former sous chef thinks there’s no season for dishes types. Freaking love your accent!

    A parsnip looks like a long white carrot. A rutabaga is more like turnip.

    Looks really good. Thanks for sharing your recipe. Just a couple of thoughts - you kept calling it “corned beef”. It’s not beef, it is pork (pork shoulder) that has been brined (soaked in salted water). Corned “beef” has been soaked in a salt & vinegar brine with a number of spices added to the brine. It has a very different taste than meat that is soaked in a simple salt brine. The other thing I noticed was the rutabaga. Another name for rutabaga is turnip, not parsnip. Rutabagas and turnips look very much like each other, but they are actually two different vegetables. The parsnip, on the other hand, looks like a very large, white-ish carrot and is kind of got a bit of bite to it. I’m sure parsnip would go well in this recipe as it is a root vegetable. I’m now off to watch some of your other videos. You have some interesting ones that I am interested to see. Thanks again and God bless.

      Yes your right. Growing up my mom always called it corned beef even though she used a pork roll. It's a hard habit to break. She also told me if I drank coffee my hair would go curly lol. Maybe one day I will redo the video. Thanks for commenting 😘😘😘😘😘

    • @lauraskitchen5706
      @lauraskitchen5706  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No so much juice comes out the meat it's not necessary. And that's how the veg get so perfectly roasted and caramelized. You Canadian I here an eh?? Lol

      I’ll put haft cup of water so it doesn’t stick to bottom....
      Is the meat very salty??
      Should I boil it for a while first?
      Thanks

      I would add water, to be honest because at 350 for 3-4hrs as she is recommending, it could burn, maybe not. I always add a little water to my roaster when I cook these types of meals, and I've been cooking for a long time. In my eyes, you can always remove the extra juice for future gravy or soup... but you can't remove burn from a meal you need to consume now. Better safe and over prepared, than sorry and out those groceries.

      Well Mike I realized I made that mistake but I wasn't going to make another pork roll for a video. I was still a beginner then. The title is correct. I'm sure there were many mistakes in the beginning.
