  • I speak with Dr. Siebecker about the most common cause of SIBO - disrupted motility. We go on to discuss to the role that prokinetics can play in lengthening the time of remission, as well as her takes on hydrogen sulfide.

Great podcast! I've actually heard most of this content before but I always like to hear the most recent news. I will say, I didn't know Iberogast works as well a one of the pharmaceutical prokinetics. I have used iberogast along with 1000mg of ginger after clearing my sibo. I stayed in the clear for almost four months. The second time I cleared my sibo I only used ginger to save a bit and I relapsed pretty quickly. It seems to be a good product and it can be ordered on Amazon!

Thank you! And thank you for sharing your experience too! That’s so interesting and glad to hear you learned something new about iberogast! We hope you’re currently clear of it and stay that way!

What always confused me about Iberogast - isn't alcohol in it affecting gut bacteria? Herbs in Iberogast are great but I'm worried about alcohol content.

We have found the majority can tolerate it very well, but still recommend speaking with a health professional first.

Same problem with Swedish bitters which wasn't mentioned. It works also as a pro-kinetic but high in alcohol content.

About hydrogen sulfide SIBO and treatment -- She says that bismuth is effective, and also that sulfur sensitivity is often an issue with this type of SIBO. However, most bismuth treatments we can get are subsalicylates (like Pepsi Bismol). Any suggestions for bismuth without the salicylates? Thanks.
