  • Dr Gabor Mate explains how rheumatoid arthritis is an example of how we suppress our healthy anger and it redirects in our body. Suppressing our emotions. Suppression of authentic self leads to issues with immune system. “Stress causes the illness. The illness is the outcome of an adaptation.”

This video really resonates with me and my colleagues - in the UK and with loads of self help books going on and on about authenticity and integrity; yet we see in the UK the people who are rewarded with bonuses, high salaries, housing security and never having to face any poverty are those that fit in, do not practice any integrity, truth or authenticity.
What are ordinary people meant to do? To stand out in the rain being authentic, practicing integrity in a society that calls them ‘chumps.’
Look at our politicians, mainstream media journalists continually lying to us and anytime a truth breaks free, it’s called a conspiracy - no wonder there is a growth in unhappiness/ depression in society, it’s so hard to live with that level of cognitive dissonance.
I’d like to know how can we live an ordinary life well without compromising our own morals, and still have Housing security etc.
I can’t help but fear that more and more people will get autoimmune diseases, as society continues to becomes psychopathic in how it rewards people.
I do a lot of yoga, grew up in a practicing Ayurvedic household and as an adult now I struggle because I know my own standards clash with how reality is, even in yoga studios it’s now so full of instagram philosophy that the idea of authenticity is brainwashed out for a photo in a timeline feed…is this our future?

that is so interesting that he mentioned Jordan Peterson. Didn't his own daughter (Peterson's) suffer from juvenile rheumatoid arthritis? she developed some sort of carnivore diet to manage it in the adulthood.

Yeah she did and I do think that dietary experimentation is one way to combat this illness but I think the reason she got better was honestly because her life got way the fuck less stressful when her dad got famous and their family made an insane amount of money. She now gets to live next a whole foods and have her refrigerator stocked full of whatever thing she wants. I also think that when you're sick, weak, and sensitive, your body is less resilient to literally everything, that includes inflammatory foods. I don't think the illness is CAUSED by a bad diet but I think when you have the illness, your diet plays a huge role in the process of the illness.

Great question. Check out our 12 self soothing techniques videos. Also look at the different breathing exercises. Often these help release emotions.
