    Dr Hyman couldn't stay awake! But this was a really good interview, I've had RA for almost 3 years now so this was interesting. I manage it 100% with nutrition and have not had a flare up in about 18 months.

      Extra Small Doll hello. Do you recommend any good books or websites for nutrition? My mom now has RA and there are ok days and then there are bad days. She has changed her diet and it has helped a bit but I wish I knew more to help her. She refuses to take the med prescribed to her because she fears the side effects. Any suggestions will be helpful. Thanks so much!

      Sugar Bear I read multiple excellent books but what I really used were the Engine 2 book and the Dr. McDougall book. I also refused medicine...so I can understand! First thing I stopped was all dairy products.

      Mary bk...I just started having back pain 3 days ago and I'm looking for advice. Did you have arthritis and the keto diet eliminated the pain? Do you eat any dairy?

    Fix the gut and keep it healthy and everything else ailing you will surface afterwards. I fixed my gut then found out i had blockages in my heart so i fixed that and then my hormone groups were jacked so then i started ashwagonda root and CBD oil. Im in pretty good shape since i started eating nothing but whole foods

      maybe....Susan obviously did not want to give much detail...she wants you to get the book. I would have rather have had Mark read her book and get his insights.

    For me, in addition to dairy, gluten was the biggest cause of constipation. It took almost my whole life to discover this (discovered it in my 50's) and another couple of years to completely get off of it (gluten/wheat is very addictive). Also, I can only maintain healthy bowel function by taking probiotics twice a day. My microbiome is now healthy after years of dysbiosis.

    This is very true. When I was healing my body from chronic pain, I learned so much about gut health. That's the first thing I tackled. I call it sealing and healing the gut! Thanks for all the information!

    Susan is wrong when she recommends eating lots of nuts and seeds. These are high in polyunsaturated fats, which increase inflammation significantly!

    • @gilstead4424
      @gilstead4424 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      nuts and seeds are essential for healthy fats, the grains are the NO GO AREA. Grains are very inflammatory specially from wheat.

    • @gothops2632
      @gothops2632 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nuts are very high in omega 6 fats, with few exceptions. All of us should be limiting omega 6 fats in our diet.

    • @gilstead4424
      @gilstead4424 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      not true, nuts are only bad when you eat them roasted, raw nuts are high in magnesium witch is very important for the heart and brain!

    • @gothops2632
      @gothops2632 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      But you can't absorb the magnesium or other minerals in nuts because of their high phytic acid content.

    • @gilstead4424
      @gilstead4424 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can absorb magnesium if you take enough potassium in foods. This two minerals work together are extremely important for heart and brain health together with zing, if you lack of potassium you wont absorb magnesium. Also nuts help maintain a healthy level of cholesterol in blood and helps to relax your nerves but like I said eat them raw.
