Ark looks amazing to me, despite it's flaws. The biggest issues I have are:
1. The optimization can be pretty horribly.
(My PC isn't super powerful, only 300 watt psu and an older 2 GB RAM)
2. The fact that it's price on PS4 is absolutely insane. ($75 CDN, but at least it includes Scorched Earth.
3. The fact that mega tribes will wipe you just for kicks and giggles.
4. Playing solo slows down progression.
Anyone else agree?

The optimization will probably improve later they are just not optimizeing right now because they would need to redo alot of the optimization later if they did it before all of the features were implemented .

I like how he makes the trap much more complicated then it has to be
don't know if you know the other perks of the Griffin, but you didn't mention them. the rider can use weapons while mounted. So you can traq quetz mid flight instead of being carried for that first quetz tame.
second perk needs the multiplayer. you can have a second rider and carry a third in the claws.

you dont need the door at end, you can simply make a gap for tera it stops th erisk of the griffon following you out if too slow
This is helpful for me because on my solo ark there are griffins near a location of gigas and so two good creatures one tamer

nooblets.com for unofficial and official this is not good, its soooooooo expensive while a cheap cage 5 gate frames + 2 Gates work good too. Unofficial you have enough health so it would be NOOOOOOO problem using my trap and official asking a allie or friend to help close the gate when you got trough would be better then making this so you can go solo

This isnt that expensive. You guys are just cheap and probably ask for handouts on your sever. Besides this is a multi use cage, not just for griffins.

Well wow what are the odds?! Just had a little play in ark, after not playing for ages, and spotted a griffin. Continued with my game for a few hours... Just now, got in bed and fired up TH-cam to look for a "how to tame a griffin" guide (whenever I think of a guide, nooblets comes to mind). But before even opening the search window, there it was! A few medical brews should help a lot. Cooked meat as well but the brew more so.
honnorgaurd it does make it realistic, but it's ark nothing should be realistic. The devs have done some bad updates recently

Thanks for the vid! Used your old design to snag my first high level Rex so looking forward to giving this a go. Only problem is I play on Primitive Plus so I'll need to find a workaround for the keypads. Fridges can easily be swapped for smokehouse though.

build 8x2 foundations first, you will have to pause and count the tiles :P
Brian Baham if you want a cage fast, only use pillar, ceiling and one Dino gate (Stone, Brick or Metal). Use a Pteranodon to bait the Griffin on the cage and close the door. (do enough space between the pillar for the Pteranodon, the Griffin will be trap as you pass through.)

Griffin's are pretty easy to tame from my experience. The mountain they Spawn on has a lot of flat surfaces, and whenever they attack need they always fly real low to the ground in a circle. I get hit a few times but once I get the pattern down it's pretty easy. Since they Spawn on mountains they tend to get stuck in rocks when the flee, which makes my life easier.

Update = Today I actually put the plan in motion, going to the spot in the vid, and setting up my 'hunter camp' very similar to the one Nooblet did in this video. It worked excellently! My first attempt went sour when I forgot to put the door on 'manual', and I got too close and it opened and the nearly-done Griffon fled! But on the next attempt, it went down - and just as I tamed it, a level 45, I saw a 140 down the ravine and brought that one in for a tame, too! Worked perfect! Thanks for another awesome vid Steve!

Maybe it's time to device another Wyvern trap for Ragnarok? I have the idea of using kind of a disposable Pteranodon to steal an egg, escape as well as I can to the sea, get on my parked Megalodon and swim down with scuba gear and wait for the aggro to go away.
Anyone have some thoughts about this? It's lighter on resources than the Scorched Earth trap by Nooblets because of the sea. I think this could work.

One more griffin tip...
When doing a dive bomb, if you hit your primary attack right at the moment before impact with the ground rather than just hitting the ground normally, you will do a dive swipe attack which inflicts an INSANE amount of damage to whatever is in the immediate impact zone.
How insane? While the base damage of the standard dive bomb is 150, the base damage of the dive swipe is 375!
At 500% melee damage, that is 1,875 damage in one hit to everything within the impact radius of your attack.
Fly around and find a big NPC fight happening, then dive right in the middle and hit this attack and you will wipe out everything but the most heartiest of enemies in a single hit. I once came across a fight involving a rex, 3 argys, several scorpions, raptors, and a couple sabertooths. One dive swipe killed everything but the rex - who was left very bloody and was finished off with a single bite.
Once you get the hang of this, you can then move on to the master level - hitting the attack AND pulling out of the dive simultaneously, so that you do the damage and fly right back up into the air to repeat the process on anything that was able to survive the initial strike.
Now, go hunt down those alphas and get some.

I thought the trap was dumb at first but after seeing it in action it's genius now I don't have to go with my tribemates every time they want a Griffin plus I could share this with my server

tried the taming cage, small tweak: use metal doorframes instead of the final gate (totally remove the gate)
not a lot of ppl know, but a ptera can fly through metal doorways.
just lure the griffin and fly in from the open side, go through doors and stall your ptera out of range but in sight....
this way you got all the time to close the other gates
On Ragnarok there is a cave next to a little water pool towards the map's middle which is a frequent spawn for Griffins. Just agro them and kite them into the cave a fair bit.

Or you can just build a 2x5 with doorframes on the side going 4 up, ceilings on the top, with a dino gate on one side & pillar it off on the front (snap the pillars on the foundations so it'll touch the ceiling, you can use stone fence foundations) with a gap. Use a Ptera to lure it in & fly through the pillars, leave your ptera in front of the pillars once the griffin is in & the griffin will stay aggro'd on your ptera long enough for you to go behind and shut the door.
you should really do a solo let's play on Ragnorak!

I think the best part would be to put up some spike walls surrounding the pen so that any wild animals won't be interrupting the tame and or killing it
