With it I show you how to tame all sorts of dino’s including how to tame an argent bird without killing it, and the easiest way possible to tame your very own Ape man.

I just learned about you about 2 days ago. I built this pen in aberration, which I started playing yesterday. I've actually caught 5 ravegers with this. Though amazingly in reverse, with me on the inside. Still thank you so much for this vid. 😃

+Mt3c666 boats are amazing early game I have a stone pillar with several stone ceilings on it for taming or just getting away. I have everything I need up there and a stone railing around it, I keep a Pteradon on it, beds smithy and forge. Planing a taming box one next.

Another good way is build a trapper raft GG fizz makes a good one it helped me tame a 120! :)
I used doubled up pillars with a large bear trap for time to enclose him in pillars worked like a charm and then used wooden spikes to protect it

Quite obvious. I built a pen for capturing Feathered Raptors (google they're awesome) Being they're harder to catch than normal raptors, ended up with 3 in one cage, killed the ones I didn't want, as I honestly don't want to take care of anything lower than lvl 130.
Building an aesthetically pleasing building to cage dinosaurs whilst I'm still cowering in a box in the corner. I still love these tip vids though.

=p Can't pve sever, seems wildcard allows larger tribes to just do what they want. I do have a question for you that I ran into.
Used pillars and roof tiles to create a base the first time I used walls down from the ceiling it allowed me to place another ceiling on the floor then the round about stairs. Now it won't allow me to do that have demolished a lot to redo it. Nothing, was trying to get a tree to regrow on my land with vines.
Still hasn't grown back yet.

100% agree. official server are worthless. unofficials are better just steer away from Pay to play servers as the admins will always do favors towards those who give money.
Great videos. I'd love to see a few videos on the following:
1. Stat recommendations for solo play
2. Starter base building tips and tricks (basically what do you recommend pre-metal this dino taming cage is a great example)
3. Recommendations for which recipes to prioritize in solo play

none of my IRL friends play ark and my online friends are stuck on Eve... though your vids might just do the trick for some of the more blood thirsty among them.

if you want a raptor Bola it then use a club
Bola, tranq arrow w/ crossbow to the head, wait 5 seconds, second arrow. Wait, it will get KO'd. This way you won't accidentally get hit by the raptor.

On Xbox, argies STILL can't pick up wild dinos, but can when their tamed. Megaloceros, nope. Tames? Yup. So this helped a TON. Thanks nooblets!!
Update: due to rexes no longer fitting inside normal dino gates trade those out for behemoth gates and build the rest of the structure around that. It's a bit larger but works the same.
I'm a noob, but seems like you need windows on the rest on the holes to prevent other players greifing your tamed dino while you're trying to tame it or while it is KO'ed.
Awesome cage! Also what are the coordinates for this taming pen, looks like a good spot for a base. If anyone knows plz respond ;)

Wow. I've only just started on PS4 playing solo. I am the epitome of noob. This has just enlightened me to what is to come and how difficult it is going to get! I haven't tamed a single dinosaur and I am level 20...got some tranq arrows so going to try and get a Trike...
You should make a new larger pen as the new update made so that Rex and larger wont fit

DO AS LITTLE DAMAGE TO THE DINO AS POSSIBLE!!!! idk why he said use a powerful bow first thats completely wrong. you want to get the narq in the animal without doing much damage. the more damage done the smaller level boost your will get. never hit the head. spread out your shots so the animal can heal between them. and if possible feed the carnivores a dodo or something towards the end, they will heal from eating it after they kill it.

could you make a video on solo taming a quetzal please because im finding it difficult.
To solo tame your first quetz can be done by carrying a scorp with a flyer.. while the scorp is on agressive, this only works on low lvl quetzes though, becouse the high lvl ones take so many torpor to get down that it kills it.
Another way is to use a grapeling hook on your bird and send it towards a quetz to attack it.. wissle passive when you get there and make a tranq-shot on it.. it will fly off and you once again send your bird to attack it with a wissle. oince goight up to it, wissle passive again and make another shot.. etc, etc. This method will require some practice, but once you get the hang of it, it should work.
Once you have your first quetz you might want to get it a platform saddle and build a little cage on it of 3x3x3 : 2 foundations, 3 ceilings to each side for a base platform; on the front build a stack of 3 doorways on the left and right side - on both side 3 stacks of doorways in the centre (wich makes 4 "pillars" of doorways to stop a quetz in the air".
Once you have stoped a quetz in the air, you will need to box it in a bit more, so it won't get away from you once you start shooting it.... for this you will copy the front of the platform on the back aswell, wich means that you place 3 stacks of doorways to the right and left side of the back. also, you want to place 4 roofs on the 3 stacked high doorframes to close the top of --- I place them 2 on the left and 2 on the right.. both in the centre and the front to stop the captured quetz to be able to fly out anywhere.
Befor you start shooting it now be sure to have on you all the food it will need to tame (wich may be hard if you want to tame it with prime meat) and also make sure you also have all narcs on you that you need to tame it up. This becouse you likely won't be able to acces the quetz you are on while the new one is shot down.
Next to this, make also sure to have enough food and water for yourself.. and maybe a parachute to save you when you get pushed of by the knocked out quetz. Btw: if your own quetz moves during the tame, the knocked out quetz will fall to the ground and you'll need to look it up.

Hey, does the hatch door trick work from underneath as well? Could you build a floor out of hatch openings and feed something from underneath? I don't believe that anything aside from maybe a Tradoon or a Dodo would fall through the opening. Thanks.

you better build something simmilar to this on a plattform dino with a ramp
set it to passive and make it unfollowing you and than aggro the dino you want to tame nearby. a fix building like this, could be used in case you're not in the mood or don'T have the time to directly tame them, you could make prision cells, and catch a whole load of dinos, and than you kinda can push through the entire taming of all dinos in one go.
edit: the highest Torpo damage can be dealth with Rifle Torpo Darts, ( less damage on health, more damage torpwise)

One note about switching to the bow from the crossbow: The bow deals less torpor per point of damage (meaning you deal more damage to do the same torpor), so it's actually a better idea to stick to the crossbow, but use a primitive crossbow when you want more finesse in how much damage/torpor you deal.
On one PVE server, we built this taming structure in the video. We caught a T-Rex and it destroyed the damn cage while we tried in vain to knock her lights out. I got the bright idea to put a couple Bear Traps in there so it didn't charge the gate again. I don't have any idea why we thought it was a good idea to build wooden gates but the large bear trap did wonders to keep her from charging again.
Welp looks like I'm demolishing and reconstructing the cage I was tryna make....this one is amazing!
Add some dealings on top so you can tame flyers
This works even better with 2 people for birds, u can just kite it all the way through and have ur friend close the gate after u zip through the cage (so u don't have the sacrifice your bird)
with a little modification it could be a good giga trap. just has to be bigger with a behemoth gate on one end and a regular dino gate at the other.
that's what I was thinking :)
Jesus Alatorre problem I found with that idea is it would have to be made of metal. Gigas can destroy stone structures so it will just chomp its way out witch sucks for me because I play on a primitive server.

if youre on primitive + then you wanna go brick + cement for gigas
i built a taming pen using this design method but i changed somethings up.
i used behemoth gates for coaxing larger animals like paracers, spinos or mammoths into it. the bottom smaller pen part where the sasquatch was coaxed into, i made that shorter and wider cause i had plans on moving alot of taming supplies there.
theres room for improvement and cleaning up what i did with my design.
I kind of wish Dino's would ragdoll when KO'd instead of that animation. Would make it easier for them to not get attacked by wild Dino's
Add a bed incase theres a mishap, and remove outside - in Windows on pvp servers so people can't kill your tame, and you've got a a great cage.
My narco arrow barely work. Shot a lvl 20 steggo with 25 of them. It just pissed him off

If you build ramps on a side instead of a door, that allows dino's to run up it and fall into the pen without you having to worry about shutting the door after they get in.
He said his main use of the cage was to tame birds
Hey Nooblets, at 3:45 you mention getting a raptor to follow you on foot. Might want to add a little text so noobs don't try that after the TLC update. It will end...badly.

I must be really unlucky... every time I lure a dino inside it brings along 3 or 4 of its friends. I am modifying to put an outer wall around it.
I know i'm quite late, but for the monkey, can't you just a door in the other door and open it inwards so it's even more trapped?
i to trying a new. death trap style base living in the jungle like that hiden dose work but i like to hide armys and armys of compys in the bushes like a tiny land mine waiting to pounce and kill a player who walks past my pillars compys are to fun to play with so are dilos and micro raptors i notice big bases with big dinos gets spoted alot more quicker then a small house hiding in the trees camo green with a amy of tiny dinos hideing in the tall grass

With recent updates a Rex will not fit the dino gate so if you want to use this design you need to up your door size. Hope this helps any new players.

i will build mine like yours but i will at a 3ed floor for storage and i will put thatch and wood and food in it cuz it takes time to tame :)
One. Ad thing is now people are ass holes and kills tames and they kill what you are taming so you should put windows
I just made a 4x4 box with a gate, door, and no top. Didn't need anything too elaborate.
i just get really high movement speed, shoot them with narc darts and run

can you and or have you do/done a video on a trap like this for on a raft and or speedboat just for convenience to travel with your trap to take it to different areas for different dinos.
ahh i should make videos haha. use a ptera it can fit through a 1x1 hole and the argi cant just fly in and straight out
Or you can have a player close the door for higher chance of him not escaping when your closing the gate

There is no point hitting a rex in the head, its one of the few dinos that don't have a torpor or damage multiplier for hits to the head.

Thankyou Steve For sharing this build with us, I wasn't having too much luck with rexes on my raft tamer up in the snow but I built this cage next to my redwood base primarily for Gigantopithecus and after a few attempts with rexs despawning on me or wandering off I found it easier to lead them to it on foot rather than on a bird and i now have a lvl132 rex (my highest so far)
I used this design years ago. It still looks nice though.
Hey Steve, it's me again, I actually checked and verified you can't capture a Spino in that cage, Spinos don't fit through normal dino gates, unfortunatly :(
