Over the last month I've probably watched 200 car review videos and this is the only person who shows the headlights in action! Nit kidding!🤯😳 Well done on that front!🤔😉😇
Good review. I’ve had my Preferred trim CX-5 for about six months now. A few minor gripes aside, I’m loving it and am very happy with my purchase. I’m so impressed with how well it handles and the overall driving experience.
I just bought 2022 CX-5 premium S trim yesterday 9/15/22. my wife and I love it and all CX-5 is made in Japan, engine and transmission. How I know? the VIN# starts with"J" for Japan. the mark up after negotiating comes down to $700 for Lo-Jack and Door Guard. we feel good about the purchase. the best value out there in this time, any other car dealers will mark you up for several thousands dollars more.
appreciate your video a lot and all the drive feeling of the car and all of the description of the interior and how the suv drives and how it perform and also sound sampling to get the total atmosphere. well done bro.
By the way. #1, is the stereo system in the select is a particular brand? just want to know #2, did you detect any distortion on the 75% - 100% volume? #3, great video. thanks
Hey great review, just picked up mine. Do you feel the road feedback a lot in the steering? What i mean to say is every pot hole, rough patch and general road roughness is felt in the steering wheel (buzzing sensation in hand not vibration). What i found was the OEM tires had less feedback compared to when i put the winter tires. What is your experience?
The car has a lot more feedback come through than your average vehicle. I wouldn’t say I feel any buzzing or vibration coming through the steering, just tighter feedback when making turns. Could just be your winter tires, it has happened on other vehicles for me after slapping on winter tires, but the buzzing eventually goes away with some wear on the tires.
Thank you for the thorough review. I'm thinking of trading my 2017 Camaro RS and getting into the 2022 CX-5. I'm used to the handling and power of a sports car but sick of the impractical aspects so out of all of the smaller suv's out there, this one seems the most appealing. Appears to handle well and for a 4 cylinder engine, seems to be adequate enough.
Preferred is a really good option, we actually believe it's the best bang for buck trim. I would try to find one now, given that interest rates will most likely increase in the coming months. Take a look at the CX-50 as well!
I see the infotainment screen showing a navigation map while you were in the freeway-does that come as standard on all 2022 CX 5? Appreciate the good review.
Have you tried touching the screen? I have a 2021 CX5 Signature Turbo. In Apple Carplay and Apple Music, I can touch the icons and it works. I can touch the pause button in Apple Music. Same for the other icons in the Carplay screen.
@@motortest9530 that is strange, mine apparently is all touch. At first i thought it was just Carplay. But today, in Carplay i touched every icon and they worked. I touched the Mazda icon. It brought me to the Mazda menu. I touched each item in the Mazda menu and it worked. I could even touch the "
I can’t see the speed limit digitally on the cluster, I’m not sure if having the nav sd card will make a difference. I came from a car that displayed it digitally, I’ve quickly gotten used to the physical gauge
I have a 2021 Touring which, as best I can tell, is what the "select" used to be called. If you use the nav card in the Touring, you can see, on the 10.25 inch screen the posted speed limit (but not on dinky, slow side streets, but on streets that would start, I'd say, 35 MPH or greater (I just got the card 2 days ago)) either just on plain map mode or if you have put in a destination. You can enable it to turn to red if you exceed the speed limit and you can enable an audio warning (apparently). The speed limit is a small box in the lower left part of the screen. Totally unobtrusive. I've just enabled the speed limit to go to red if I'm going above it, no sound. This feature is awesome. While the official card is steep (about $400), you know it's an official Mazda product that won't mess with your car or computer when you update. It beats paying 10K more for the signature just to get Nav, but the Signature looks beyond amazing and is probably worth it for other reasons. Hope this helps.
I just had a test drive in an Akera turbo model, that’s top model we have here in Oz. The Bose system is great, the car is well insulated and drives really well. It’s very luxurious. They only niggle I had was the electric park break, it does not engage and disengage automatically like my 2020 Toyota Corolla. I should receive my new Akera soul red in October sometime, I can’t wait.
The screen is touch now. Even when driving. Got a select January 2024. Thanks for the viedo.

Mazda dealers are really good about not going too crazy with mark up
Informative video, I really like the cx 5, also like the Seltos ex

If your looking to get in a small SUV from a sports car, this would be the one to go for. Also check out the new CX-50!
@@motortest9530, much appreciated!!!👍
You will like it a lot.
Cylinder deactivation is the kiss of death for a motor.
This was an issue for the 18-19 model years, it seems to have been rectified since according to consumer reports.
Think I would want the Preferred model. Since it's mid year I'll wait to see the 2023 even though they say won't be any updates. Thanks

All CX-5s come with Apple Car Play and Android Auto, this enables you to use your phone’s navigation.

Can you please do a POV video at night?
The end of the video (off road portion) is at night, we left a time stamp for it in the description

That’s reliable transmission six speed like four runner only five speed if reliable transmission y change it this kind of car don’t need 8or 10 speed
Yes! Your right, it’s a reliable transmission and works well. It’s not in anyway a deal breaker but I think MPGs can be improved with an 8 speed
gearbox yes. but there are serious problems with the 2.5 engine

Leatherette is vinyl.
Correct, leatherette is fake leather. They did a good job of making it feel good.
The Bose system in a Mazda is the deal breaker for me.
Haven’t heard it, but we’ve heard marginal things about it. Bose has been lacking in vehicles recently.

hmmm first person that talked about the armrests... that concerns me..
The armrest is definitely something to get used to. I came from bigger vehicles, try it out for yourself.
