J. Cole's storytelling here is incredible, making you feel every word. It's both beautiful and heartbreaking, leaving a lasting impression. Definitely a standout track that showcases J. One of the greatest storytelling songs of all time. Any genre. I’ll always stand on this hill

This whole album he raps from perspective of his friend James except neighbors, one of his best albums

Great reaction. You really missed out by not doing the whole album. It unfolds to this as the final track. The storytelling over some really beautiful music. Masterpiece from one of the greats.

This is by far one of the most genuine reactions. Amazing. Trust I felt the same way when I first listened to this song. Much appreciated.

I love your reactions. J cole is my favorite artist. And your genuine reaction really touched me. I know you said you wished you didn't read about the song prior, but i just have to say im so happy you did because it makes the song how its meant to make the listener feel. J cole makes true art in his music thats meant to invoke emotions. Thank you for reacting to this. I hope you continue to get different contexts for future songs prior to listening :) makes the song hit harder.

Also for context j cole wasn't directly comparing 2 pac to Jesus. He was saying 2 pac was like Jesus for hip hop.

Can't compare anyone to Jesus in any kind of way. I don't like it one bit.

@@quann06of course you can, no matter how you look at it, I personally don’t believe in any particular religion, however if you are to believe that Jesus died for our sins, his point was that Tupac had to die for people to realize that there were problems with the way hip hop and rap were taking the people involved. It’s not that he was saying that Tupac was anything like Jesus in a literal sense, more that his death was what saved the genre

The amazing thing is? Cole wrote this entire album from his friend’s perspective
Not only that, the style of writing? Isn’t Cole’s. He wrote in his friend’s style of writing the ENTIRE album
That’s REALLY REALLY hard to pull off and land

I've heard this song many times, love this album, this was the first alvum I heard of J cole and now listening to this today, I have been diving more lately into 2pac's life and music and I am here sobbing at how young he was killed and Cole's friend was killed so young and is just so many black men and women etc. getting killed so so young. I am a Latina, white 23 years old, living in the bronx, and I hear gun shots every few days of the week, and this is so real. I don't know anything about gangs or anything like that but I know is hard, is hard for any african american to live in this country just because of their color of their skin and is so sad to see. So many young lives been taken from us, people that could have changed the world for the better, people that are smart, and amazing and are raw and authentic, people that could have brought up kids of new generations now, and is heartbreaking.

It’s pronounced “Noz” (Nas)…not Nazz, rhyming with jazz. He’s also a phenomenal rapper J Cole was heavily inspired from. Check out “I Gave you Power” by Nas. You won’t be disappointed
