Hi Everyone.
Here I am building Tamiya's brilliant new 1/48 Lockheed P-38G Lightning. I use a few Eduard upgrades during the build.
Eduard upgrades sets are:
SIN64866 Big Sin
Eduard Brassin Lightning Nose Gun Bay 648533
Eduard Big-Ed set 49240
This is my second upload, thank you to all who have subscribed to the channel after viewing my first video. All the positive comments have been gratefully received and it's giving me lots of motivation to do many more.
This build took a while but I'm pretty please with the finished model.
Everything I use in the video was paid for by myself and there is no paid promotion.
I hope you enjoy watching and maybe get some inspiration for your own builds.

You never realize how entertaining it can be to watch someone being creative until you find yourself watching it for a while.
WOW! You really have a lot of talent. I was especially impressed with your incredible painting skills and making the P38 look so darn authentic! EXCELLENT JOB!
Scale model shed you are good at building aircraft models and painting aircraft models my friend
Scale Model shed you are good with the air brush you are a artist at painting aircraft models my friend
Awesome paintjob on an excellent model. Bravo !!!
Why do you need commentary. His technique speaks for itself. His subtitles explain what needs to be explained. That being said I used to build model air planes as a 12-14yo kid in the early 70s and the kits from then pale compared to today’s kits. I would say that the video I just watched is a master class in model building. Your attention to detail is a joy to watch. Thank you.
Incredible job you did with this P-38 model! I'm a beginner model builder and this video is extremely helpful.
Probably the best P-38 build I've ever seen. Museum quality imo.
Wow...thank you!
I get the feeling this not your first try at this ! Simply wicked !
I used to build the Tamiya tank kits when I was a kid in the 70's..they were amazing, especially if you took your time building them..great job..I might get back into building models after watching this
Same here, in fact a pal of mine Brad Schlaar's father Ed worked as an illustrator for Tamiya so he
got all kinds of armor kits from the company. I used to be so jealous of his enormous dioramas
of German armor.
Magnificent rendition of my favorite WWII fighter, the detail is superb. For those who don't know, "Miss Virginia" was the plane flown by Lt. Rex Barber that on 18 April 1943 shot down the Japanese "Betty" bomber carrying Admiral Yamamoto, the man who planned the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Most interesting! I remember as a youth reading about this truly astounding event! Thank you for the refresher.
Build one of these kits, then a Tamiya kit in 1:48th scale of the Mitsubishi Type 11 Isshikkirikko (Betty) Japanese Air Force Medium Bomber (61049).
Please tell us about such a project.
I strongly recommend motorising the engines and including in both the appropriate personnel. One can design the two stands and the electric wiring conduit in a manner that keeps them out of view from the front. Look up the term "Chapman crane" from motion picture production, and adapt it to this purpose.

I've been modeling airplanes for the last 8 years and watching your videos is so inspiring I still learn new tricks thank you for the videos
I'm like your atention for the detail.I'm very pleased to notice even your gloves are black which act like an camouflage and that way, which not disturb the focus point of the model.
Amazing patience. What a craftsman you are.
I've never seen a P-38 put together before because I found the plane uninteresting (honestly)! This and you (and Tamiya) have changed my mind. Such skill in bringing it to life. Thank you.
Seriously stunning attention to detail. What a beautiful result!
I can only add to all of the positives below - brilliant tutorial work- thank you!
Scale Model shed your p-38 Lightning aircraft model kit is awesome my friend
Detroit here, beautiful job my friend, your superchargers are best!
Being stuck in bed with Covid despite being boosted and jabbed …your videos have been a great source of inspiration and relief from feeling sorry for myself :-)
Hi Kenrick, thank you, hope your better now!
GOOD GOD MAN that is an unbelievable build !!
YOUR a real talent !!
Incredible Job!!! So realistic...I wish I had these TH-cam videos when I was making them back in the 1070's Thanks to you I would have been a BEAST!!!!!
This was a masterclass on weathering!
Wow! Cool! I know, this is real hard work. Perseverance and patience at work. Looks realistic. Great!
Man!!!!....You are in the league of the Gods. Perfect job.
Hi, just making this kit, got some brilliant tips, thanks
Top notch camera angles n zooms
Beautiful build , very realistic and have me some pointers watching
My favourite build to watch so far!👌🏻
This channel is recommended for saints who want to learn patience, and fine building and editing skills.
An absolutely super build and as for the extra detailing you have carried out throughout the build its self. Well it really has lifted this model to another dimension. A fantastic video which is both informative and extremely helpful to anyone just starting out with modeling as well as those people who are seasoned professionals alike. Highly recommended to anyone interested in modeling.
Very nice job on Rex Barber's Yamamoto Interceptor!
You are an artist, Sir.
You have done this beautiful plane and this beautiful kit Great Justice!
Excellent detail in the cockpit
I've never seen such real looking rust on plastic before. Kudos.
A Master Class in Weathering. Wonderful!1
Watching this made me realize that I have a long way to go to become great at modeling. I did pick up a few new tricks though! Well done! Love the build!
Those superchargers... just amazing.
INSANE! Beautiful. Thanks for posting. Amazing job!
Looks fantastic, great build.
I got this model for my 15th birthday and it was a great model. I’ve only been building models for 2 years now and the p38 is the best model I have done, it’s not as good as yours though
You turned out a lovely looking Lockheed!
Ever since I was a kid, I always had a problem with p 38bkits being VERY tail heavy. For a 1/32 build, I remember my dad putting a penny inside the nose. Solved the problem. Anything small with a bit of weight but not too heavy will do.
Great kit. I built it and I loved it.
My favorite airplane books:
- Topgun by Dan Pederson
- F-4 Phantom: A Pilot's Story by Robert Prest
- Great Fighter Jets of the Galaxy 1 by Tim Gibson
learned something new. it's easier to lay down the yellow tips on the propeller first then doing the black portions!
Beautiful work! Thanks for sharing!
Wow. Brought back memories of my father building models.
Great looking p-38! I stopped working on plastic models. I'm building the 1:33 Wak paper model, which will keep me busy for the next 3-4 months. The good thing is you don't need to do all the chemical stuff, i don't miss the painting so much. Its another hobby really. But more family friendly 😄
Your p-38 is beautiful. The weathering is amazing.
My late grandpa (dad's side) was a P-38 pilot. It's a shame, this style of airplane isn't talked about, much.
Very nicely done, model, by the way. It's kind of mesmerizing, watching these get assembled.
Fantastic detail! Gorgeous paint! This model belongs in a diorama! I am an armor modeler who has be dormant since 1989. I'm just coming back to modeling and I would like to do an aircraft. My uncle Frank flew P-38s in the South Pacific in WWII. I am putting this kit on the buy list and starting my research to make an diorama to depict his service. Thank you for the spark that ignited an idea that may bloom into a real project. Keep the videos coming. Regards, Ed
Thanks Ed, that's great to hear you got some inspiration from the video. Thanks for commenting!
You did a great job!
I just opened plastic on the "J" version of this.
Also my favourite US war bird . Great model skills. I hope we see more of your work 👍
The cockpit alone is a work of art!
Absolutely exquisite! I can only marvel at your skill, in my younger days I was a keen modeller (but never got within an asse's roar of your skill) These days I am afflicted by very shakey hands and eat with a spoon, so I can only envy your skill👍
This belongs in a museum!
the paint work is awesome as is the build
Beautiful job. I noticed the White 33 was another option. That plane was buried in New Guinea and recovered in the 90's. It is now flying and is at the Museaum of WWII Aviation here in Colorado Springs CO.
That was brilliant...well done
Scale Model shed your utube videos are awesome my friend
Fantastic work. Excellent video. Love the close ups. You have a fan!!
Unbelievable build...Impressive... You win my award... WOW!!!!
One of the best builds If seen
Superb Andy. Loved watching this build vid.
Glad you enjoyed it
Just fascinating to watch, again, you are an artist…just incredible.
Have to agree that commentary would be better than the music. I recently acquired this kit, and some guidance and other tips would be more helpful.
the words are missing, it's an incredible amazing job you did
Stunning. A work of art, well done. 👍👏
日本人モデラーは創造力、アメリカモデラーは再現力が凄い。so cool!
It's very exiting to see your expert assembly with different paints and tools. I am just a retired old man and is just assembling my childhood bobby. The problem is in my country ( Burma/Myanmar) there is no Hobby Model shops. So had to buy some kits and some paints whenever I visit Singapore. I had no spray gun also. So most of my models are hand painted , and as I don't know which paint will dd
be needed for models, its a head ache to try to figure out with paints available. The most available are enamel and oil paints. Its helpful to see your video. , I try to see on You Tube of real aircrafts for reference.. .Thank you.
Amazing build and painting 💞💞💞💞💞💪💪💪🍺🍺🍺👍👍👍👍
Really digging your builds
Another stunning model and a fabulous video 👏👏👏
Absolutely stunning work.
This is easily the best, most realistic build of a P-38 I've seen! Incredibly well done. I think it would be helpful if, in the video notes, you listed all the products (paints, tools, etc.) you used. I'm personally just getting back into scale modeling after.... a lot.... of years away from it, and having a list of paints & tools would be helpful. Keep up the awesome work and videos!!
Thank you! Good luck with getting back into it. When I get a chance I'll add these to the description. The vast majority of paints/ materials and some tools are listed in the top right as I build the model. Cheers. Andy
I’m with you, my brother and I are just starting to get back into modeling and boy have things changed! I am astounded at how much detail are ion the models and the extra detail kits that be purchased. I am learning so much by watching these videos that when I finally get everything together I start mine around December or January.
Nice technique using the water to cut down on the resin dust.
water would also help with sanding on plastic too.
Lovely finish.
man i would love to have you build one of my models that's been sitting for years cause idk what i'm doing. Thank you so much for sharing and teaching.
Outstanding video of building the superb kit!
That's amazing! Wish I had 1/3 your skills!
Some guys are handy with tools...👍
It was a pleasure to watch. You are truly an artist at work.
AWESOME Plane 🔥🔥💪🏾💪🏾.....very detailed 👏👏🔥🔥💪🏾💪🏾
Awesome work my friend keep up the good work
Hi Juan, thank you, thanks for watching.
Very exacting work. Well done.
Beautiful, beautiful job!
looks AMAZEING
Two words : SIMPLY GREAT !! 👍🔝😀
Thank you.
For sure this is amazing model building! It’s way beyond your average model builder, though. These techniques can’t be done by every day people. Practice beyond practice. Awesome video!!!
Thank you!
Your channel is a gem. I hope to see a lot of future content!
Absolutely Fabulous job !
The brass wire lever with the fire is brilliant! I will definitely try.
Awesome build!
Amazing the amount of detail work that went into creating this masterpiece. Truly museum quality.
Back in the day, this was my favourite model plane to build next to the Mustang! Cheers!
Lovely work, a job very well done, 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Excellent work.
By chance, I came across your channel....my lucky day! Terrific job all round culminating in a beautifully finished model. Will be checking out your other build 👍
One of my all-time favorite planes, reconstructed with exceptional detail. Love your videos and can’t wait for the next one!
