      Thanks for watching! I have a number of 1:72 scale kits in the pipeline for the channel, I only wish I had more time in the day to get kits done! First world problems! It looks like you have a good line up of kits to build, both the airfix P-51 and B-25 are great kits, I've enjoyed them a lot. I would love to build the GWH F-14, looks like it has outstanding detail!
      As for early jet era aircraft, I have an FJ fury planned coming up and I'll have to add an F-18 to the line up. Maybe I need a low viz Jolly roger Super hornet in my collection.

    Concerning the stretched sprue....I now avoid Tamiya liquid glue like the plague..its sooo hot. Mr. Cement is much better. Not as hot and doesn’t melt your details. The drawback is that its liquid active bonding state doesn’t last as long so you must work quicker...but it never melts your details.

    Superb result sir. I have the eduard kit in my stash so I know where the references will be coming from! BUT can you help me, as my Princeton F6F-3 has given me a massive headache in that I like to know who flew the planes I build (but not to this standard regrettably). White 11 flew off Princeton early on the morning 0f 24th Oct. 1944 but had to relocate to USS Essex, Princeton having been stricken by the single bomb from an N4Y D-3. I have googled until I'm blue in the face and cannot find the identity of the pilot even though this bird was unusually marked f11 on the fuselage. Can you help please, it's my tribute of respect to these brave pilots. Congratulations on great work, from England.

    Part of the reason why exhaust stains were so prominent on the Hellcat, Corsair, P-47 and all the other aircraft that used radial engines, specifically the P&W R-2800 Double Wasp was because radial engines would end up burning oil, idk why, but they did and that was a limiting factor for their range like the P-47, they would go through so much oil. So you using some actual oil for the exhaust is both historically accurate and just 🤌

    • @HammerheadModelMaking
      @HammerheadModelMaking  ปีที่แล้ว

      The most obvious visual difference between the -3 and the -5 are the small windows behind the cockpit. They were eliminated on the -5 model. I believe that there were other minor differences with the engine. Also, other -5s were eventually upgraded with 20mm cannons, and some had a radar mounted on the right wing for the night fighter version. But, for the most part, they are pretty similar.

    What type of oil paint do you use for exhaust stains and other oil stains and how long does it take to dry?

    • @HammerheadModelMaking
      @HammerheadModelMaking  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I use a brand of oil paints called Masters Touch, from my local art supply store. Usually, I will apply the oil paint to a small patch of cardboard, to let it leech out the linseed oil first, usually about an hour or two before I apply it to the model. Then, once its been applied to the model, I will usually give it until the next day before moving on to the next step.
