Hi all, I really hope You all are safe and doing well! Just to say hi, I was quite busy for other stuff in life but I was able to finish few builds started in the past ;) . About the kit, very nice kit I can recommend it highly. The P-38F version was also nice but it was 100% clean build for other purposes last year so this one is with heavy weathering. Please take care and all the best for You!! Dusan. PS; I will try to answer questions from previous videos soon.
What an outstanding kit. This is why Tamiya is respected by modelers around the world. Their attention to detail and their ability to engineer a molding process that ensures a secure, easy fit is unrivaled. I built a lesser kit years ago but will try again with this one.👍
Have watched all of your videos, Dusan - but this has raised the standard above anything that you've shared on YT before... it could be because I'm a massive fan of the P-38 as a subject but honestly I believe it's more than that. Truly one of your very best. Best from NZ.
Thank you for your kind words Ian! 🍺 We'll it's not my best but I like it a lot. I have much more serious builds in my display case. All the best!! Dusan
I stopped building kits 15 plus years ago. Now getting close to retirement I've started getting the urge to see if I still have my skills to start again although my eyesight isn't what it used to be. I really enjoy watching you're videos which are giving me a big incentive to re ignite the flame. My skillset was nowhere near yours but was enjoyable looking at the end result once built. Keep em coming. Great stuff.
As soon as I saw the beautiful shape of the P-38 in the thumbnail I knew this was going to be good. I was mesmerized from start to finish watching you construct this masterpiece. You did a wonderful job and stayed true to life, bringing out all of her glorious details. You have outdone yourself with this one! Thank you for posting this!
I'm building this kit now. It really is the best engineered kit I've ever seen. It's also clearly engineered to produce later model Lightnings. I expect a J/L kit in the future.
THIS IS THE BEST P-38 BUILD I HAVE SEEN on TH-cam!!!!! Great technique, great execution, AWESOME results. A build from a TOTAL PRO modeler!!!! A tip of the flight helmet to you sir!!!!
The P38 was Legendary.Amazing Model. They was at Navy too.In Blue with white underside. And the Exaust Streaks was Yellow, because the US Fighters like Corsair or Hellcat had Fuel with much Sulfur. It looks petty good.
Tamiya really is at the top of the market. As much as I also love Eduard, Tamiya just goes together so much nicer. I have their A6M5 from 2008 and it's the best 1/48 kit I've ever done. You have to stop doing such amazing work because now I want this Lightning too lol
A stunning rendition of THE Pacific bad boy of the air. The imagination revels in envisioning sights and sounds of scores of these beasts lurking in Japanese skies.
I used to pay 2/0d (two shillings, now ten pence) in the early '60s for a 1/72 scale Airfix kit in a plastic bag with a folded paper instruction sheet stapled to the top of the bag. A few are available on Ebay, starting price £10.00 which is about $12.40. PS - excellent video, superb build.
When i started plastic kits in my youth i would never imagine the detail level today, this Tamiya kit is amazing and you did the best with it, only the guns are bad. 🤩👍
My favorite aircraft design from WW2. I have always thought it was one of the most unique designs of fighter aircraft to date with the double-boom construction. Those nose cannons were deadly from what I've read and the P-38 had plenty of them. Very nice build video. I learn something new every time I watch one of your videos. Thank you.
Great kit and great build! 👍 The PE and resin that comes out for this kit is going to be unbelievable! I can see building 'several' of these! Thanks for the video!
In my opinion your videos are probabily the best I could find around. Just can't stop watching them... Plus, they are very informative, and contain some good advices on how to assemble models properly. Can't wait for the next one!
Wow you are incredible, i have watched this several times and I’m still as amazed as the first time. If i become half as skilled as you I would die a successful scale modeler
HI Dusan, thanks for sharing your hobby with our enthusiast. Your attention to detail is great, as well as use of etched metal parts and advanced techniques in building and painting. Goes to show there is always room to learn new tricks and skills. Keep up the great work!
Gracias y felicitaciones saludos.!!!
I love this build! Thank you Dusan. I've always used a gloss black base for my bare metal silver. I'm surprised you don't. But, it looks the same so I will save myself some time and skip that step! More info on how you painted and weathered the superchargers would be cool. Now I have to get my p-38 and start on it. Thanks for the inspiration.
Great job on the pit, IP looks real good, booms came out sweet. The only thing I don't like about this kit, the lack of details in the gun bay. That's a serious display of model building patience {all the tape work}. You went all out on this kit! I do prefer one piece tires. Turbo chargers are special! They add a very realistic touch. This came out real sharp! I think one of your best! All the effort paid of in spades! BEAUTIFUL 38! CONGRATS!
I will say I love your videos. You have a nice background music and choose some great kits. What an outstanding job you have done on this P-38. My airport here in Ca was originally an Army Aircorp field for training of P-38's so I have always loved this bird. The Fork Tail Devil.
A couple of helpful hints for anyone making this kit. 1/ IF a P-38 was delivered painted, so were the undercarriage bays - usually in the interior colour, and sometimes in the underside colour. Those machines delivered in Natural Metal (J & L models), generally, had Natural Metal undercarriage bays. Tamiya based their paint scheme instructions on a modern warbird. 2/ In 1940 and 41 Lockheed had no major USAAF contracts. Most of their aircraft production was given over to aircraft being sent to the UK under Lend-Lease and the majority of their military paint stocks were actually Dupont made RAF Equivalent colours (For planes like the Hudson and Ventura and Lodestar. This information was taken from Inventories found in Lockheed's own records) During the development of the Lighning (1939-41) and the first 2 production models, (P-38E &F) these paint stocks were being used to paint the planes, so the correct colours on any F model are Dupont RAF Dark Green (NOT Olive Drab) and Dupont RAF Medium Sea Grey - NOT Neutral Grey. They interior colour was the same bright "Apple Green" that was used on the Lockheed Hudson which was Dupont's (bad) version of RAF Interior Grey Green. The famous P-38 F named "Glacier Girl" excavated from the Ice in Greenland wore these colours abut when restored was given the standard USAAF Olive Drab/Neutral Grey & Interior Green finish. There are some good colour images (Not colourised) that show F model P-38s with a darker, greener finish and lighter undersides.. I currently own 2 of the F/G kits and their later limited edition H kit, all of which I intend to build, the H will end up and one of Lt Richard I Bong's rides. BTW Dusan - That is a AMAZING JOB on your P-38G kit.. One of the best I have ever seen.
I love this channel I love the review I love the 'thumbs up' I appreciate the absolute skill of your work Your like the 'Stig' of the modelling world Just fantastic I hope that you your family and all of your viewers are safe and taking care of themselves Thanks simply amazing skill and a big thumbs up from me👍
tbh i might do this for my next kit, it looks like a really good one edit: as a side note. the backs of propeller blades tend to get banged up and full of scratches more thn the fronts. but thats a teeny nitpick, this model looks incredible!! thanks for showing us :)
Tamiya isn’t as easy as they say, “just pour glue and paint in the box, shake it and you’re done” but they give you great quality and detail to start with. Add some aftermarket detail kits to a savvy builder, and museum quality is attainable. Would be cool on future build videos to show lit parts next to detail up parts so viewers can see the difference between what is stock and what the detail parts will add. I thought the supercharger in the kit looked fine, so I’m not sure what the extra money for the Eduard parts gets you. The cockpit and other details look worth the money.
Excellent build. I plan to build all P-38's that participated in the Yamamoto Mission, of a smaller scale. I also like the music accompanying this video. Keep well, and safe.
this is an amazingly good build and paint job.. I only wish I was able to do something of that quality and detail. Saying that I haven't built anything in over 25 years plus.. think I'll get back into it with the lockdown
Have not yet started this kit yet, don’t have the time with my calc 2 class at the moment. But will use these amazing techniques to obtain a cool result! Great job with the paint!
I don't want to be that guy but I think the props turned outward at the top on the P-38. I guess you put the starboard prop on the port engine and vice versa. Great job otherwise, I envy your patience, you are a real artist.
Awesome kit and build! Just one note, your props are on backwards, the port side turns clockwise, and the starboard prop turns anti-clockwise, you have them reversed.
Hi, this is my first video I've watched on your channel. I watched it this morning over a cup of tea. I am so inspired by this build that I went out and bought the kit from my local store this afternoon. Can I ask, did you build the F or G version, and would you mind sharing what decal set you used? -Andrew
Thank you for another excellent video. You used some cool techniques with the weathering, and the PE was awesome (you must be an eye surgeon in real life!). Best wishes to you.

Жаль что я ничего не понимаю)
Stay safe bro!
Stay safe Dusan and healthy! Love the channel and the builds. Really have to learn a lot from you! Keep safe and fantastic work on this One!
amazing model, you have really beautiful models
What an outstanding kit. This is why Tamiya is respected by modelers around the world. Their attention to detail and their ability to engineer a molding process that ensures a secure, easy fit is unrivaled. I built a lesser kit years ago but will try again with this one.👍
Can't beat that TAMIYA attention to detail. Worth every penny!!
Completed my kit yesterday, it's a Taymia! Assembly is no sweat. Great details. It's all in the paint job.
Hannants are the GOAT for model supplies and cool decal schemes
Have watched all of your videos, Dusan - but this has raised the standard above anything that you've shared on YT before... it could be because I'm a massive fan of the P-38 as a subject but honestly I believe it's more than that. Truly one of your very best.

Thank you for your kind words Ian! 🍺 We'll it's not my best but I like it a lot. I have much more serious builds in my display case. All the best!! Dusan
This kit had the best fit of any model kit I have ever built. It was superb.

Thank you very much!!! It's not that hard to get back on track and enjoy! Thanks again! 🍺 All the best! Dusan.
The best modeller on TH-cam building the best model maker of them all. Incredible build

Amazing work!
My grandfather built P-38's during the war.
$65 grumbled the whole time I waited at the cashier, in the end though it's a beautiful kit and with the PE kits from Eduard it's stunning!
The P38 was Legendary.Amazing Model. They was at Navy too.In Blue with white underside. And the Exaust Streaks was Yellow, because the US Fighters like Corsair or Hellcat had Fuel with much Sulfur. It looks petty good.
This kit is one of the best engineered kits ever and you have done a brilliant job! Thanks for posting this.
Without rivets? Please.
Браво Дуле, уметниче.
I was never interested in the P-38 but I am now. Looks like an awesome kit and you definitely did it justice!
Love the flash of the F-35 Lightning II at the end. Great touch!
The imagination revels in envisioning sights and sounds of scores of these beasts lurking in Japanese skies.
simply a pleasure to just watch the smooth building video
I feel like this kit went together better than the actual plane. Superb job on the build too.
...objasnio si...svaka ti čast...
Very nice, the P38 lighting is also a classic choice in the classic arcade game Strikers 1945
I remember when my 99¢ store used to sell model airplane kits back in the 90s. Good times :)😇
25-50 cents in the 60's...
@Pixel Dust Totally, they are designed for destruction.
Love this kit. I only replaced the gun barrels and wheels.
It’s a work of art👍😀
Dear Dusan, love the white gloves and chipping technique, always a pleasure to watch your post, keep on posting !
This has been your best work yet!
Love the tape work, that really sets it apart

Hey Dusan, your model looks simply fantastic, thats one of your best models ever, well done mate
Greetings from Canada. Superb build.
Amazing - I just started the hobby again from childhood - on my 11th build - on day, I hope to be half as good as this!
HI Dusan, thanks for sharing your hobby with our enthusiast. Your attention to detail is great, as well as use of etched metal parts and advanced techniques in building and painting. Goes to show there is always room to learn new tricks and skills. Keep up the great work!

Outstanding job !!! Looks quite expensive though but those details are crazy for a 48 scale
Easily another $100 on goodies

@@ScaleModelAircraft You deserve it my friend. I learn how to be a better model builder every time I watch your work.

this one the best ever great build love the aftermarket keep them coming please
Amazing work. I don't have your skill but in my limited experience, Tamiya kits are the best of the best.
bro! that masking tape over detail sanding is brilliant!
I have to consider this as your best build ever, sir Dusan. Superb techniques and procedure 👍
Excellent, excellent build Dusan! Great special effect at the end of your video with P-38 Lightning and the F-35 Lightning!!
First comment I saw that noticed. Such a pretty P-38 you hav-F35!
Looks like a brilliant kit Dusan, I will have to try this one day.

Astonishing Detail and craftsmanship. Just superb!
There is more Eduard's parts than the original kit 😉.
Well done btw! Outstanding job! Cheers from 🇨🇵.
Amazing. Expert build, wonderful filmmaking.
Absolutely astounding detailing. Thanks for sharing with us all.

another amazing build-there is no end to your skill dusan
Mind blowing! Love the work you put into this. Blows the old Academy -38 out of the sky
Aparently 25 guys are fans of Admiral Yamamoto! Again, great work, can t get enough of this vídeo
Very nice build. The kit looked to be of high quality and detail.
tbh i might do this for my next kit, it looks like a really good one
edit: as a side note. the backs of propeller blades tend to get banged up and full of scratches more thn the fronts. but thats a teeny nitpick, this model looks incredible!! thanks for showing us :)
Interesting panel line paint technique. Looks good.
Stunning!!!
I built this kit many years ago, and, despite my being a "fumble fingered boob", it was beautiful, beyond my skills!

An absolute stunner.
Mind the comment, Dusan. Shouldn't the propellers be turning "away" from the cockpit?
Excellent build. I plan to build all P-38's that participated in the Yamamoto Mission, of a smaller scale.
I also like the music accompanying this video.
Keep well, and safe.
Thanks Christopher!! All the best! Dusan
Greatest warplane ever built in my humble opinion.
Wow Dusan, just wow! What a true artist
this is an amazingly good build and paint job.. I only wish I was able to do something of that quality and detail. Saying that I haven't built anything in over 25 years plus.. think I'll get back into it with the lockdown
That PE set is Amazing -

Looks like nice memories! All the best!
Great build I plan to build this one I didn't know there were so many aftermarket sets for it, there goes my budget! Thanks for sharing the video
The kit alone is worth the build! Thank you!!! Dusan
oh my God! What nice kit! I need to build it too! Fantastic build! Cockpit and wheel wells details are great!
Amazing work Dusan you just keep getting better!
Have not yet started this kit yet, don’t have the time with my calc 2 class at the moment. But will use these amazing techniques to obtain a cool result! Great job with the paint!
What a great airplane . Superb work !
It could be interesting to built a 1/48 scale model Bf 109G-6 from Tamiya, it has great details and oportunities :3
I love these forked tailed devils, beautiful model
😁👍
Крутая модель | Cool model
I don't want to be that guy but I think the props turned outward at the top on the P-38. I guess you put the starboard prop on the port engine and vice versa. Great job otherwise, I envy your patience, you are a real artist.
Yup that's right, wrong position as I can see now. Anyway I'll will just exchange it. Thank you very much!! Dusan.
Nice Work
Your such a inspiration, absolutely stunning job
What a beauty of a kit and you have done a fantastic paint job....I do like the P-38 if Tamiya ever do it in 1/32 I,m in.
I think they already have
Awesome kit and build! Just one note, your props are on backwards, the port side turns clockwise, and the starboard prop turns anti-clockwise, you have them reversed.
Yes 👍 it will be switched, thank you very much! Dusan
Stunning work
P-38 is such a beautiful airplane!
Another great build and video Dusan, keep em coming!
Exquisite build as usual...i swear it looks a shrunk down version of the real of plane ❤❤❤❤❤👍👍👍👍👍
As always good work. The plane is beautiful
Hi, this is my first video I've watched on your channel. I watched it this morning over a cup of tea. I am so inspired by this build that I went out and bought the kit from my local store this afternoon.
Can I ask, did you build the F or G version, and would you mind sharing what decal set you used?
-Andrew
Andrew, the version is G. The set from the build is X48215 Xtradecals. Thank you I am glad you liked it! D
Very nice build. But all that aftermarket stuff must have cost almost as much as the kit itself!
Ray Theron worth it
Yes. And?
The P-38F-version was oob build last year, so this one had to be a bit different. Thank you!!! All the best! Dusan
What an amazing paint job.
Fantastic work and great video Dusan. Beautiful Lightning. Greetings. Aleš 😎👍
Thank you for another excellent video. You used some cool techniques with the weathering, and the PE was awesome (you must be an eye surgeon in real life!). Best wishes to you.
Great looking P-38! Really enjoyed the video build.
Great! Congratulations from Brazil !
Excellent work! Really fun to watch. 26 minutes have just flown! I’ve clicked the button, Subscribe and Like.👍
Thanks for support!! All the best! Dusan
Lovely piece of work Dusan. Keep them coming.
Amazing!... Mine is waiting in stash..
What a great job
