  • UPDATE: for all those who think this method means the motor wont last, here is a video from friday april 5th 2013 of the car still running strong, its been over a year and around 10k miles of hard beating. • AWD civic running 11.1...
UPDATE: ALSO CHECK OUT MY SECOND VIDEO ON HOW TO TURBO YOUR HONDA you can see it here • how to turbo your hond...
this video shows the steps to turbo your honda in a couple days with upgraded internals and not removing the engine or doing any machine work.
also for those saying you need to do some sort of easy break in period i think you need to read this article , the old fashioned ways are long gone www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_s...

the "lip" inside the cylinders isn't from the factory...its from the wear the rings cause after thousands of miles. Since the rings don't go all the way to the top the wear doesn't reach the top of the sleeve hence the lip.

You should do a video on how your clean up the head and block and prep for new headgasket

  • @JuanVargas-yq1rz
    @JuanVargas-yq1rz 10 ปีที่แล้ว

some tips for everyone watching this, always use a straight edge with a feeler gauge on top of the block to check for war-page. reason being if your block is warped your head wont seal properly and could lead to future issues such as oil and combustion leaks. if you do find war-page on your block send it to a machine shop to be re-decked and make sure to always send your head to the machine shop to be resurfaced and always use a new head gasket and head studs. make sure you always use the berry bush to re cross hatch the cylinders regardless what this video says. it will promote oil flow into the piston oil rings. other wise pretty spot on justin. i love your vids man

Nice job.. This video was pretty well put together.. Touched on some good points.. My only
Criticism is on the filming.. Should have had someone else do the filming for you.. Oh. The lip you feel at the top of the cylinder wall. Is generally carbon build up.. It's not there when the engine is first assembled.. It Build's up over the life of the engine.. It can be found on any engine that run a full cycle.. Just ask the 4.3l v6 I'm building..

Great video man. This is something I have been looking for for a long time. Really well put together. My B16A2 in my EK has now done 170,000 miles and I'm a little concerned it's probably not a good idea to boost it, although I have looked after the motor well and it doesn't use any oil or water. I wish more people in the UK knew series like this

I ran a 4G63t engine in a 92 Dodge Colt (Mitsu Mirage) with a 20g turbo, 660cc injectors, Evo 8 pistons, 1G rods, ACL Teflon coated bearings, Evo 3 cams, OBX adj cam gears, 3" turbo back exhaust, Apex'i AFC, F5m33 trans with AWD 5th gear and LSD, and more, and made 308HP to the wheels at 12 psi. The car weighed in at 2175 lbs and would spin both front wheels well into 4th gear and bark them going into 5th. Fun, fun car. Lit up a 2012 Corvette GS.

Finally someone that knows how to talk/write... I'm a car enthusiast, and yes I do own and Honda Civic, but it's mine and I like it, it's fast enough to drive on streets and I know it can handle that speeds, and I can do tons of miles/kms without the engine "blowing in my face", because that's also why Hondas are good, they can run tons of miles without creating a million problems.

Make sure you don't scratch your crank when pulling the uncapped rods out, the studs can scratch your crank up if you aren't cautions. They make Connecting Rod Bolt Protectors, although not necessary, they can come in handy in certain situations.

i wish people would understand this engine has bin done properly to an extent, yes this will work if the engine was never over heated or other issues, so no machine work is needed.
In my knowlage with engines(im a licenced tech working in a GM dealership) i would suggest with his set up ever year mabey 2 years depending how hard you drive it and how often she see's 6-8 grand to just straight up slip and slide new rod and main bearings in.
i have a few friends that do that once a year and it really does work at keeping the oil pressure up and the bottem end good

    Meaning:
For ever thousand $$ you put into that car, you'll decrease the value by the same amount....until it decreases to a certain value (i.e. floor). Then you might see some return...

im doin a d16y8 vitara eagle setup and i was explainin to my dad that well probably want to get a oil catch can for it (he knows old american cars, not hondas lol) he was tellin me that if we only vent the valve cover but pressurize the crankcase it would be easier on the engine under boost since the psi in the intake and combustion chambers would be the same psi as the crankcase, hes idea was less blow by from the pistons cause i also told him how the vitaras fit a little loose. i told him all the turbo builds ive seen ran oil catch cans or like what you did, capped of the output on the IM and put a filter on the black box.

The piping from the intake manifold is the Cold side. It goes down to the left into the intercooler and the right side of the intercooler piping is the hotside going to the turbo compressor. In the picture he didn't have a filter on his intake side yet (on the turbo).

love your work! don't worry about the haters, i own a clubsport R8 and the only reason V8 drivers hate these cars is because they can't beat them...

Very nice video! I'll be replacing my turbo and some parts the next couple days. I think i'll post a video too. I made a bet I could build a SOHC d16y8 that could out do any DOHC cars I come across. So far it's done it's job. I'll comment when I post. Very clean engine though man! I envy the cleanliness. I suck with paint though. Any tips?

eagle rods have ARP 2000 7/16th bolts and are good to around 800 whp. i have never personally had them that high but i have had several set ups that made around 650 whp or 700+ crank with these same eagles and never a issue even shifting at over 9 grand all day lonh

Nice clean engine bay! That's a good thing. Damn, Honda left a lot of extra room in that engine bay...you could fit a whole other engine in there!

Nice job. Would you tell us how did you do with the brake system? I mean, how do you feed vacuum to the brake booster after raising the pressure in the intake manifold
