This movie would have been so much better if it was about her slowly going further and further until she's running a human trafficking operation and feeding the kidnapped people to the locusts. Like a study in how far she'd go for her obsession.

I'm not an expert on locust farming (or any insect really) but i feel there are better food sources than blood.
Even if we accept the blood i honestly can't see how her first thought were using her own blood, using some weird misterious blood and then starting murdering random animals... damn if she is in the middle of rural France (or any european country really) there should be at least a dozen farms in a 10 km radius that breed cows or pigs, it can't be that hard to get a consistent legal supply of blood (with no weird chemicals inside considering european regulations).

They have a lot better options then blood. They love vegetables/fruits. Buy sacks of the cheapest potatoes and onions (fresh or old doesn't matter) you can find. It's like $12 for 50 potatoes. Only certain insects need blood in their food. Locus are extremely easy to raise (unless for consumption), and there's not big demand for them. The problem was she was feeding them grass, not high in nutrients though they can eat it just fine. If those locus was eating blood like that, then they were being starved.

Yes some insects do hold life long grudges but not all have the memory required to do that
Many insects can even recognize faces and memorize that a certain face is either friendly or dangerous
Although they don’t understand any form of communication you would try to use on a large number so you can’t reason with them
insects are typically extremely sensitive to noise and smells hence why they use both of those for mating
This means you can use both of those to deter them and only a smaller number will get through your defenses

Yes, bugs can remember individual people and hold grudges. I say this because my mom accidentally kicked a cicada last summer, and it got into our condo entryway area before the actually condo shared hallway area. We figured at first it flew after her because it was trapped in that particular area but we were disproven.
This cicada flew at my mom repeatedly whenever she'd enter and exit that area for the next 3 days to the point of repeatedly using it's body to hit her in the face a few times. It never attacked me despite her bring me home from work. It was completely fine with leaving me be despite us being around the same height, both of us being women. It didn't attack my dad or any of our neighbors either!
I helped the cicada out of the condo to help my mom not continue getting attacked by a really fast bug, but it still went after her for a solid two weeks after that whenever she exited the condo! It was funny as heck yet the weirdest animal grudge I ever saw!

As a french guy, I can tell you that we don't get grasshoppers to eat out our warts. That's weird as hell..
The closest thing ik are that you can use maggots to eat dead skin, I've heard of doctors doing that at in hospitals (not here tho, I watched a documentary in English) because they only eat dead skin so they leave everything that's healthy and can have a better outcome than if humans were doing it.
Concerning the syringes, you can't get any without a medical prescription. But cow's blood is pretty easy to get, I haven't seen any in supermarkets (I wasn't looking for that lol) but you can always go to a butcher and ask for some. You wouldn't even look weird since some people make themselves a dish where you put blood in a sausage and eat it later when it's coagulated (I have absolutely no clue on how to translate the name so the description is wonky sry. It's a boudin noir, Google translate says it's black pudding in English but it sounds weird...)

Believe it or not we had to buy several of them at work to paint onto a copper roof. The blood makes the shiny copper turn green faster.
    The more you know.

Regarding the bugs holding grudges, some species of wasp and bees have been shown to recognize faces, retain that memory for days, and are aware of enemies vs friendlies. Ever feel like when you go outside there is that bee that is always getting too close to you? Well that's the reason. It recognizes your face. So I would say they could hold a grudge for sure.

13:30 yes, yes they do, not certain about locusts but many insects hold long, multigenerational grudges

Wasps will hold grudges, they also have a very good memory when it comes to faces, so if you were to attack their hive, they will remember you next time. So in a sense wasps do hold grudges.

@Nerd Explains - There is 1 insect that definitely holds grudges. Hornets. Hornets can remember faces, and will chase someone who has killed their nest mates or attacked them relentlessly. It's usually only Asian Giant Hornets that do this, however All hornets have this ability.

Cut up some pieces of Styrofoam and mix it in gasoline. When the Styrofoam dissolves in the gasoline, pour the viscous mixture into a glass container of your choosing. Empty beer bottles were historically a common choice. Tie a piece of cotton cloth soaked in gasoline to the neck of the bottle and light the cloth before use. No more locusts.

Then I thought that if global warming happens harder than those locust could absolutely wreck europe and even america if they can make to and across siberia.

To be honest having a locust farm right next to a bunch of crop farms is a bad idea to begin with.
    Because
A- there’s a constant threat of them escaping if what ever there contained in is damaged and thus has any openings big enough for them to escape.
And B- all it would take is a few of them escaping to rapidly multiply and devour all near by crops in a massive swarm of destruction completely destroying the lives of many farmers.

This problem could’ve been solved so easily if that guy who set fire to the tents unleashing the horde on himself just went in his car start his engines and leave. While making a few phone calls to the police of a murder. Then call all the exterminators in the area to take care of the locust swarm.
The best she can do in that time without an insane amount of plot armor is pack a couple of them things and get out of there.

As a lifelong SoCal surfer I can say wholeheartedly that full grown grasshoppers freak me out more than sharks. I have a true phobia. It doesn't freak me out unless they're a certain size, but once they're that big oh my god the negative ASMR us unreal. I can't handle it. I can deal with spiders, again if it's a f*cking huge spider ok yeah I'll freak a bit, but dude something about grasshoppers truly creates a panic response for me.
