Ryan Hall is one of the best runners ever!!He has run faster marathon times than Meb has but through the timing of everything hasn,t won a major marathon like N.Y.C Marathon or Boston because it just happens that the field was filled with fierce potential and the Kenyans ran WR paces the same year and even with those circumstances Ryan had the fastest American time in a marathon. If anyone has been under rated recently by many people who really don,t understand the ups and downs of running its Ryan Hall.I love this kid and he gives me great inspiration to stay focused and reaally challenge myself in my training and running and I truly appreciate all his cool videos.I,m not too crazy about trying protien powder in pancake mix though.yuk,lol.This video is one of my favorites Ryan made!Ryan will be back on top.I have faith and believe.Go Ryan!Faith and belief and hard work and I know you will win a major marathon soon. You have it coming soon!!!!!Thank you,Cliff Thomas.
Im so disappointed by the comments I see here. What Ryan has done through a lifetime of hard work, dedication, and humble attitude has led him to U.S. record-pace races, and representing us in the Olympics vs. the fastest runners on the planet. It's lame to see such negativity here, re: "not fast" pace, not good form, " doesn't mean much", "nice try sport" etc. Flat out guarantee none of you will ever run as fast as him. Period. Leave it at that, and lets appreciate him for who he is.
4:55-5:00 mile is an excellent single mile time, and I bet most high schoolers and adults will be absolutely floored from that....some seem to have absolutely no idea how hard it is to carry such a pace for 12 miles. Actually let's just do this; people who cant see how hard this is should see for themselves and try dropping 1-3 minutes from their current mile time, and then they'll see how difficult a 59:10 12 mile is
At first thats what I was thinkin but then I realized that he is probably doing this 12 mile tempo on top of a bunch more harder workouts. I believe Ryan has a huge chance at a medal in this years Olympics.
super inspiring. I was having a hard time staying motivated before this half marathon I ran. after watching some of Ryan Hall's videos, I gor a pr of 1:17:30! :) great motivation :)
This guy is insane! These are his results i found on wikipedia: 1500 m: 3:42,70 min, 9. Juni 2001, Stanford 5000 m: 13:16,03 min, 24. Juni 2005, Carson 10.000 m: 28:07,93 min, 31. März 2007, Palo Alto 20-km-Straßenlauf: 57:54 min, 8. Oktober 2006, Debrecen Halbmarathon: 59:43 min, 14. Januar 2007, Houston (Kontinentalrekord) Marathon: 2:06:17 h, 13. April 2008, London
Thats time means 3:04 min/km pace which is quite impressive but poor not enough to be in the top10 on a marathon race. Anyway I see that Ryan could not finish the '12 London race :(
Ryan you are an animal! Notice the pacer is on a bicycle! I would love to see this guy enter the world of ultras; he could probably reset every course record there is. Thoughts anyone?
Ultras are a whole different terrain for this animal. He would probably be struggling but sure enough, he would be an awesome ultra runner too. Check out Sage on his youtube channel vo2maxproductions if you haven't. He was a road runner and in earlier videos, he talks about how he learned so much more going into ultras.
I have been running for about 4 months now, how long do you estimate it takes for your lung capacity and lung muscles to get as big and strong as they can be? I know there is no limit, but I am 6 foot 1 and as the person above me said I can do a 6 minute mile but by the end of it I am just about cooked.
I'm I huge ryan hall fan, but this video doesn't mean much. I'd like to see 18 - 22 @ 90-95% MP or 15 @ MP. Actually since speed is his main issue mile repeats @110 or 8 miles @106 would be nice. Anyway the video is 2 months ago so not a bad work out at the time. Can't wait to see him in London. Git-r-done!!!!
Those would be the asics hyperspeeds 3 or 4s(they both look the same). They phased them out last year, but will be bringing them back in 2014(but look totally different).
Fortificatio im pretty sure you have found out by now what tempo running is but it is when you run for abot 20 to 30 minutes at a certain pace and try to maintain that pace for the whole 20 to 30 minutes.
Short hair=aerodynamic. Long hair traps heat. You need all the advantage you can get. An ounce over many miles means pounds! Running fast against the best is not all you need...cuz there's always someone faster in the end.
WTF Seriously 12 miles well fuck me > that's 20 km per hour for normal people who use metric farking quick >my mate did 62 minutes for a half and that was a race he passed out , Hall did it in training and is still talking WTF!!!
Vivian Richards yeah lol I did a 12-mile run on Friday but I did it about 3 minutes slower per mile and I spent about 1.5 hours after recovering my quads
He needs to run with his arms higher as they look forced in that position. From the side view they look too stiff and don't flow like other runners' arms do. Dathan Ritzenhein has really good form and his arms flow very smoothly.
+ExpertOfSound I think every healthy person should manage do drive 12 miles in one hour on a flat course. i am not a biker, only a runner but I managed 22 miles in one hour at least. On the bike this tempo ist very comfortable. Ok I had a friend who should pace me for 40 minutes tempo run with about 10 mph and became problems, maybe some absolutely untrainied people might struggle there.
+janvelske1998 You did not manage 22 miles in one hour I guaranfuckingtee that. Perhaps going downhill you managed to run 22 mph for about 10 seconds ...
Sean Beck !DRIVE! and 22 mph for 10 seconds would make me run 100 metres in flying 10.2 - 10.5 s would be fine with that. :-D My treshold is at exactly 10 mp/h now. How could you argue about 22 mp/h :-p My answer was based on ExpertOfSounds comment.
Great run, thogh very far of being competitive globally. Its very tough for this runners, they are the best locally or at national range but world wide cant even compete, rough life
I’ve been obsessed with this music track, I use it when running since 2014

He is probably the greatest most humble person I have every met in my life!
Even if the video freezes up in random spots, it still shows how amazing his form is!
My thoughts exactly. The night before my race, I watched this video. Ryan's great motivation. My time ended up being 1:28:14
This dude is running 12 miles at my 800m pace
Christopher Nakamura lol
Christopher Nakamura 12miles an hour is 2;25 for a 800m
When I need motivation to get off my ass, this vid does the job.
This run looks amazing.
Excellent trail... Ryan i hope you are having good time, you are a great person
Thanks Ryan for sharing my son and I are big fans of yours..Keep doing your own thing !!
Great runner, great video for motivation. Ryan rocks !!

Song: Turn It Around
Artist: Tim McMorris
4:55 pace? I can't even do that for a mile!
***** I can do it.
for 200m lol
update: it's my mile time now :D
And what's your pace per mile?
For 12 miles? 6:20ish
wow! That`s pretty fast for your age. How long did that take to achieve?
Unbelievable! effortless

That's insane! imagine his training schedule. :P
the song is called turn it around by Tim McMorris
The song is Turn It Around by Tim McMorris.

the name of the song is: turn it around - tim mcmorris
It's amazing how he can run a 4:55 mile pace for 12 miles... I can barely do that for 2 miles tops
My best mile was 6:14. Ryan is nuts.
His pace was my pace on bike!
this video feels so old now
too bad that dude stole his bike
he almost caught him too
Perfect soundtrack for my tempo runs :)
4:46 in one mile, it's he's best time:)
when he was in the 8th grade -_-
Motivation for my long runs!!! Which are not close to the man RH !! God bless!
I think it was the turns and twists and the different surfaces as well.
His form is just fucking amazing.
Wicked track awesome run.
I would assume the high temperature and the hillier last 10k or so were the issues time-wise, as well as the spread of runners throughout.
Run for it, Ryan.
Does anybody here know what song this is? It makes the video so much better.
Nice long bike path
super inspiring. I was having a hard time staying motivated before this half marathon I ran. after watching some of Ryan Hall's videos, I gor a pr of 1:17:30! :) great motivation :)
Love the song and got the name, Turn It Around (Hip Hop) - Tim McMorris
Great song to go for a run
My best mile was 4:45
Great runner, Sad he can't run NYork this year 2012 :-(
hazzievincent1995 has the song on his account!

mocskoskukorica its tempo, so not quite as fast as race pace.
I want his running form. So easy looking
Thats awsome!
Haha haven't seen this in ages legend and the tune is so pos
i'd love to just meet him, he seems like a good guy and i just wanna run out where he is so calm nothings around
And that doesn't include his 2:04:58 @ Boston 2011! That was the fastest Marathon ever run by an American.
what the name of the song at the start of this anyone??? and mr.hall is freaking awesome!!!
Great, girl! People who say that probably never ran. Most of them just know the fastest ones and will never understand the great power of serotonin.
lol you must be really fast yourself. I look at this and I go "shit, I wouldn't want this guy blowing past me doing a 6 mile tempo at 7:00min pace."
Ryan you are an animal! Notice the pacer is on a bicycle! I would love to see this guy enter the world of ultras; he could probably reset every course record there is. Thoughts anyone?

IDK but he said he likes hyper speeds or something like that its in his ole boston marathon workout
Hey Flocasts will you toss the name of the song in the "About" section of this video please.
A tempo run is a fast but comfortable paced run.
So, i wonder, how does he get back? Does he run or walk back?
I have been running for about 4 months now, how long do you estimate it takes for your lung capacity and lung muscles to get as big and strong as they can be? I know there is no limit, but I am 6 foot 1 and as the person above me said I can do a 6 minute mile but by the end of it I am just about cooked.
how is your breathing i struggle at 7 min miles i can improve this?
I'm I huge ryan hall fan, but this video doesn't mean much. I'd like to see 18 - 22 @ 90-95% MP or 15 @ MP. Actually since speed is his main issue mile repeats @110 or 8 miles @106 would be nice. He makes it look easy. Go out and try a 4:54 pace for even 400 meters and one would see how hard this really is
which type of Asics is Ryan wearing while doing a tempo run ? at 0:07 he is changing his sneakers. I think the grey ones are Kayano ..
Those would be the asics hyperspeeds 3 or 4s(they both look the same). They phased them out last year, but will be bringing them back in 2014(but look totally different).
that's a really good time man :). are you in highschool?
That is because he is not on steroids like all of the other elite runners.
what is that song
ryan halls dad is my teacher in high school
Cool :D thanks for the tip
Which Asics Hyperspeed is he using here?
What song is this? Does anyone know?
What is this song?!
Of course it's not on Spotify.
Ryan Hall's PR for the Marathon is 2:04:58. I'm pretty sure even 1st place wouldn't even have run that fast.
what's the song?
what shoes are those?
Anyone think his arm is hanging?
Yeah. That's how I run
Same. Do you have any idea why it happens?
+Matthew Todd well you're running for quite a long time and you must adapt to a form you're comfortable with.
And btw some runners hold their arms low while others higher at near chest level. Ryan's arms are low
"Turn it around" by Tim Mcmorris
I'm new to running. What is a tempo run?
Fortificatio im pretty sure you have found out by now what tempo running is but it is when you run for abot 20 to 30 minutes at a certain pace and try to maintain that pace for the whole 20 to 30 minutes.
4:55 pace for 12 miles? What is life.
i would love to also... but too bad his pace is my nearly my fastest mile pace
What song is this
Tim Mcmorris... Turn it Around
Sergio Ramales thanks for asking freind
the video music ?
Tim Mcmorris - Turn it around
What song is this?
Short hair=aerodynamic. Long hair traps heat. You need all the advantage you can get. An ounce over many miles means pounds! Running fast against the best is not all you need...cuz there's always someone faster in the end.
I really hope he medals in London. Bronze or Silver Hall will have to go sub 2.07....Gold....he will have to PR
2:47 That turnover shows just how fast he is moving...
The sickest to ever do it.
WTF Seriously 12 miles well fuck me > that's 20 km per hour for normal people who use metric farking quick >my mate did 62 minutes for a half and that was a race he passed out , Hall did it in training and is still talking WTF!!!
Vivian Richards yeah lol I did a 12-mile run on Friday but I did it about 3 minutes slower per mile and I spent about 1.5 hours after recovering my quads
how can you improve this?
run every day.
simple as that.
the more often you run the easier it becomes to breathe while running.
Dont judge his form until you can run a sub 2:10 marathon.
He needs to run with his arms higher as they look forced in that position. From the side view they look too stiff and don't flow like other runners' arms do. Dathan Ritzenhein has really good form and his arms flow very smoothly.
why does everyone love his form? i think his arms look like they are forced in that position
Me too. I'll only last ten seconds though
I run a five minute per mile pace all the time. For the last 60 seconds of a half hour run on a treadmill. I'm old and lame...
maybe it's its name
Looks like an awesome place to run... Just not that fast!
2:08:01 for the winning time. 2:09:27 for bronze. Slow course it looks like.
I would be the guy on the bike
+coasteringkid Most people would have a hard time keeping that pace even on a bicycle
ExpertOfSound only 12 mph that's pretty easy
+ExpertOfSound I think every healthy person should manage do drive 12 miles in one hour on a flat course. i am not a biker, only a runner but I managed 22 miles in one hour at least. How could you argue about 22 mp/h :-p

There's a couple of clues in the video..:)
Great run, thogh very far of being competitive globally. Its very tough for this runners, they are the best locally or at national range but world wide cant even compete, rough life
song I mean lol
iShootTheyRage is my brother :O he got top comment :O
