Poor David. When I worked with Java macaques, the second in command tried to take the leader. In the ensuing fight, his spinal cord was severed. He could only feebly move his arms and head. Luckily the site manager agreed that we couldn’t watch him suffer so he was sedated and put down. It was very sad but you could see him plotting for months. Unfortunately for him the leader was well liked by both females and younger males and had allies among the oldest males. There had been a relatively peaceful transfer of power to him and he was firm but chill, especially with babies.
The way you describe it is fascinating lol
So where do you work at, Deb?
@@Kaikaifilu1994 strip club
@@Kaikaifilu1994 I used to work in a primate research facility outside Miami. It had two wild populations, one was Javas. The other is a mix of new world monkeys. By wild, they’re contained in 10 acre compounds and are accustomed to humans but not domesticated or tame by any stretch. It’s a research project on behavior. I worked both compounds as the dietician, making sure they had appropriate food sources. I also did population censuses biannually focusing on infant birth and mortality rates.
Yet ever time I bonk multiple women my wife starts causing a scene. I just don't get it?
Whenever someone makes that “return to monkee” meme, I just point them to these videos and ask “Are you sure this is what you want?”
Return to bonobo or gibbon then
Return to Gorilla. I love Gorillas and how chill they are when respected.
Imagine being the camera crew sitting in the middle of that… that’s scary!
I'm sure they've got some armed guides. Chimps are smart. Even in an enraged state, they'd pick up after one of them is shot, that the gun is what caused the wound. And the loud sound alone would probably be enough to ward them off. Still would be nerve racking though

Shoutout to the 🎥man for bringing us these clips while filming through the whole chaotic situation. Respect ✊
Right timing on Valentine's day 🤣😁....All is fair in Love and War 😁
This happens every Saturday night at our pub when Pauline, Margaret and Beatrice walk in!
I think that was your pub…
With those names I'm guessing your bar is located in..... the 60s
Every time I see someone holding a chimp I fear for their safety.
we are babies and they have the stregth to remove your arms
@@Normandy-e8i That's kind of his point... 🙄
Wasnt there the incident that a ladys pet chimp tore most of her friends face off
@@funsweed That incident gave me a serious fear/respect for chimps.
I wonder why these people always go for Chimps instead of their more chill cousins, the bonobos who look similar to chimps and are just as intelligent, if not more. You rarely see bonobos behave violently....and I couldn't see them getting into a lethal battle over a female because they all just have sex with each other and chill.
The perfect video for valentine's day😂,. Many males make chaos just to get one woman... lol
Feeling sorry for david
pretty much how it is in real life 😂
Is that what you see? Or did many strong adult males, worthy of breeding, see an opportunity to destroy the only obstacle between them and the transmission of their genetic material to a next generation? And it was many females in simultaneous estrous. Not just one. David was preventing all those other males from breeding. Not just casually banging a loose piece. David was a psychopath denying his own troop the single imperative impulse any of them have. To breed.
There's a lesson here. And it isn't about feeling sorry for David.
I wish they’d post longer clips I need whole episodes dammit
Right!!
and this is why i don't go clubbing anymore .

David Attenborough or David the Chimp?
Which one?
Reminded me of the movie "2001", even with the sunrise, just without the monolith. Cue the music "Requiem for Soprano, Mezzo-Soprano, Two Mixed Choirs & Orchestra". I bet one can cut and substitute this documentary into the movie and makes it even better.
Story as old as time. Males fighting for the gals. It's awesome to watch this happening in the natural world, knowing it's not so different in the human world....
Must be forgetting how women constantly fight other women for the best sperm. Thinking emojii
Easy snowflake
I'd never fight over no broad foh. Leave that to the suckas
I've never experienced this nor have any of my male friends. You must be hanging around some particularly stupid people. We sort of just... be ourselves I guess, and relationships just occur naturally as a result. No competition. No fighting. No "alpha" male stupidity.
Life is harder for men. All around the animal kingdom

I love the grin on the ones face @ 2, when they all start cat calling the females ...but so sad that poor David died such a horrific death. RIP David.
in the documentary, David doesn´t die (sorry for the spoiler). I recommend you wath it. (dynasties)
I think that‘s a sign of agression
David actually ends up living and takes a 2 week trek back to the group while injured and overthrows Luther and wins back his Alpha. David was one of the badest chimpz alive. Another thing to note, the Alphas of these chimpz don't generally reign for very long, usually not more then a year, which when you compare to the Gombe chimpz, isn't long at all. I think these chimps are all badasses
@@dylandyran4620 Sounds like the plot to The Revenant with DiCaprio
David died because he tried to control ALL the booty. There's a lesson here, but it's not about how poor David was. If David didn't take everything for himself, just because he could, then he'd still be alive. It's a very important lesson in psychopathy.
It's like a bar in a college town on a Saturday night
I had never seen anything more human than chimpanzees fighting.
The cameraman is lucky he didn't collect a stone to the head or two right paw and a foot. Great footage btw
I've heard of people having chimps as pets and I think that's insane.
These people are crazy
I'll stick with dogs, thanks
Look at Travis the chimp
They should not be taken lightly. Pound for pound humans have no chance against a chimp.
Sadly ignorance has prevailed and horrific consequences are to be had so people can have their “exotic” pets. Pets that they know NOTHING about and the trauma and tragedy has happened many times before. Look up Travis the chimp and it’s a perfect example why people shouldn’t have the most unpredictable, violent, greedy, aggressive, irrational, and all around assholes! They give other great apes a bad name. Chimps are vial creatures. Fascinating and frustrating to watch all at the same time.
RIP: David.
You died fighting for the most important treasure of all: chicks.
Everyone understands.
My life.
you meant to say *cheeks*
David didn’t die yet. In the full documentary he lived and returned to his group a gained control once more.

This is exactly the behavior you will see at the bar when two drunks start flexing, taking their shirt off, talking shit, etc.
Just look at the life of Frodo in the Kasakela clan.

What would be terrifying is being chased by a couple chimpanzees out in the woods. Literally nothing you could do to get away. Cant climb a tree. Cant outrun them. Cant out-muscle them. You'd have to hope you find a body of water that you can go diving down in
