    So what do you need to do to make it close to your yz250x? Stiffer springs and bigger foot pegs? Do you need to uncork it?

    • @Nick-fs8vg
      @Nick-fs8vg  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is nothing you can do to this to even come close to a yz250x. But it's still a quick fun bike. It's very heavy. If you dynojet it and pipe it it will help a lot though

    • @JacobSnover
      @JacobSnover ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with Nick, you can get it closer to a 125 2t torque wise with pipe/tuner/airbox lid removal and gearing change to 13/54, but not a 250. This thing is around 24hp 16 ft lbs stock, and the 250 2t are over 40hp if not over 50hp in most cases, but the 125 2t and 250f race bikes are around 30-35hp.

    Since you have a yz250x as well can you tell me how they compare for the money? I know that may seem like an odd comparison, but I’m looking for a trail bike that has some excitement to it. The 300r seems to bridge the gap between the 230 trail bikes and the racier bikes, but for a couple grand more the 250X can be had. Had a YZ250 that I trail rode when I was a teenager (decades ago). I loved that bike. The KTM 2 strokes are over $10k in Canada and the Yamaha 4 strokes are up there in price too. Thanks!

    • @Nick-fs8vg
      @Nick-fs8vg  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I race my 250x. It's awesome for Gncc type off road racing and even motocross, but for going out on the trail to enjoy the outdoors or ride with family it's not a good bike for that. The 300r is a way more enjoyable ride on the trails. It will easily keep up with the new ktms and Yamaha 4 strokes on a trail ride with friends.even if your friends are A riders. But the second you push the bike like you are racing it you will see why it's cheaper. If I had to choose between the 250x or 300 as my only bike and I didn't care about racing I would pick the 300r. Low maintenance is huge too.

    • @GNR325

      Have you ridden the Yamaha 250fx by chance? The videos I’ve seen suggest it would cover the trail riding/play race riding very nicely (seemingly much better than the 250x). It is $3800 more expensive than the KLX though.

      @@GNR325 I have ridden a 250fx yes. I have also owned a crf250x. Both were amazing. The 250fx is super fun on the trails and is better than the klx for sure. For easy of maintenance and price I would still pick the klx but if i were being competitive i might spend the extra on the 250fx.

    • @Nick-fs8vg
      @Nick-fs8vg  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Johnny Rebellion the answer is money. It's much cheaper to throw and 18 inch rear wheel and a kick stand on a motocross bike and market it as an offroad bike. It's a marketing thing and it's something I'm tired of every manufacturer doing. I cant understand why these companies cant see that a bike like you are describing would sell like hot cakes.

    • @Nick-fs8vg
      @Nick-fs8vg  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The yz250x is a race bike. It is not a good trail machine. The klx300 is awesome for riding with the family. The yz doesn't like to putt around. Also ( and this is huge) the yz is carbuerated and a 2 stroke so it's very picky about elevation and air temp changes. I cant ride the yz in my mountains without is running like shit once I'm at the top. The fuel Injection is amazing and this 4 stroke is super low maintenance. This bike is for people who know how to leave their ego out of riding. The klx handles great too
