Thanks for this vid, Mack. Kismet timing. Literally FOUR days from closing (selling) on our house and property. The Fuso has been packed, edited, repacked, edited one more time, and is now ready for full-time nomadding. This video was both a checklist, but more an (emotional too strong a word) nice reflection over the past 5 years (when this process began). We faced all our excuses, overcame the fears. Huge growth even before the road.
That comment gave me the chills. I know where you are (mentally and emotionally) and i know where you've been. It was a long road but it's all about to pay off. Massive congratulations! I'm so proud of you guys!
What does your maintenance toolbox look like? How much do you guys rely on automotive shops and how much of the routine maintenance do you just take care of yourselves?
Such good advice! Especially about the mail! That has been one of my biggest questions. We are about 3 years out for full time living, and planning has included any surgeries needed. I've had my septum repaired and fixed some bad foot issues too. Still recovering actually. This will give me optimum use of my capabilities and increase enjoyment of life on the road. I've found myself emotionally invested in "things", because I bought them, with my earned money and know I wont recuperate near what was spent. I am slowly getting over this silliness. Big tip on setting the date, even if years out. I will do that! I love goals!! Happy trails Mak!
I really appreciate this break down, it feels very helpful. I am looking forward to your video that goes in depth about setting up a business for the road.
I’ve been looking into van life since 2010 when I first started hiking. I thought it’d be nice to have a comfy rig to not rush from home to trail head and back home. I’ve always been fond of sleeping in my hatchback or my two door Explorer when road tripping. Currently I can retire and live in my Outback Without altering the car (keep it simple). Unfortunately I can’t until my mom is gone. She needs my time and care in her old age. She’s my priority now. When I am free, I don’t want to live in car full time. Ideally I’d be 3 months on the road and back to my place for 3 months. I also plan to live overseas for 3 to 6 months a year. Not having to worry about a converted van and have my own home base would suit me best after researching and contemplating van life for 10 years.
MAK you do such an amazing job conveying your information in an interesting and entertaining way. Captivating speaker. I’d say you’d make an excellent teacher but in an online way you already are! Love all of your videos, contents and editing! Thank you both!!
You are so very welcome! Thank you for the kind words! It really is so important to me that we do a good job with these videos because they are all filled with information that we wished we had before we went on the road! All the best!
@@BoundForNowhere Ive been wanting to ask you guys, what exactly do you guys do besides content creation in order to work from the road. Your videos are def an inspiration and though 2020 may no be the best year, it makes you wonder about being able to work remotely and be able to live a life on the road. Id love to hear a bit more about what you guys do
Great timing! I'm building out my isuzu npr, selling my house and hitting the road, not permanently, maybe for few months to see America. Then moving to my off grid property in the Adirondack Mountain's. Great video.
Really great video breaking down the key things to consider before embarking on a life changing trip! Travel is one of the primary drivers behind my financial independence journey, and these are some great tips!
We were just in a Honda Element for a while and then we finally got our Vanagon which is what we took on the road for us. In the element just a 7 gallon jug or water cube is what we took with us and the Vanagon has it's own water tank/system
This was great. Really crystallized the issues and processes I need to go through to start doing this. Let's just say, I have a LOT of practice trips to make :)
Hey! As always interesting and great video as my wife and I are getting close to getting on the road. I had hoped to meet up with you guys at overland expo west...however that didn't happen. So I'll ask a couple of questions now. I think the Tundra max payload is about 1630 lbs. The Hawk camper I thought was roughly 1500 lbs. Are you guys running pretty close to your maximum weight? I realize the shedding the pickup bed bought you back some weight. Just trying to understand as Tundra is in my consideration. Thanks !
We had Main Line address this issue since they are the experts on such things and they completely overhauled our entire suspension system to heavier duty components to be sure that we were raising our GWR to be more than what we need with the camper, flatbed, and our belongings. That truck drives like it has no idea the camper is back there
Thank you so much for this!!!! I've been wanting to do this for so long - and putting a date is so true! Thanks for the steps to get me going in the right direction. I'm making my plans right now (all with dates..:) !!!)
You should look into Sedera for health insurance. Most health insurance requires you to be in network which is difficult in the US and impossible abroad. We heard about through Mr Money Mustache.
Thanks Mak, great presentation. Have you considered doing a cat walking vlog? You know, random Mak and Owen thoughts and insights while walking Luna in the wild. I think it would be a hit.
Just a quick, completely off topic question. Mac have you ever modeled? I saw an ad in the sidebar of YT, FB or a google search for Ka'Chava...the girl looked a lot like you!
@@BoundForNowhere after I did a look see on that ad, oddly, they popped up on facebook with a bigger picture. Then there was no doubt! Y'all take care!
Great advice Mac. Sometimes just knowing where to start is the hardest part. Where are you off to now? Are you still hunkered down at your friends? Give us an update on how life is going for you. 💖
We're doing great! We're been on the road for a few months now and are about to start rolling out videos documenting life post quarantine! We're currently in Wyoming but will likely be moving further south soon!
Another great video! Is there a video where you give an overview of the cab of your Tundra? I watched the one tour video of the Tundra, but you only show us the exterior and the camper! I'm curious what you have going on in the cab. I recently got a 2020 which I'm hoping to live in part-time starting next summer. Love your content, keep up the great work!
Great tips and advice. Simple honest and straighforward as always. Unfortunately for me, even short term trips are difficult to plan and usually involve last minute arrangements. Have a younger brother with special needs that i take care of who doesn't respond well to changes!
What's with your burps woman? Really, when I think about your videos I think the thing I most enjoy about them is you, Mak, and how you make your presentations, you are very engaging, and very entertaining, makes one smile a lot. And of course, the content of you videos is always very informative as you speak from experience. I plan on only doing WeekEnderLanding, but a lot of your information still applies. Thanks for doing what you do...enjoying Life.
We made the decision 2 months ago to go full-time. Vans ready in Dec... Never spent a night in a van before and we dislike camping... Could be interesting 😂 Humans adapt right. It'll be fine
Great Share of your experience and knowledge... Appreciated more and more these days for those working/living remote.. Remember everyone... only 12 1/2 hours left to get MAK & Owen's Bound For Nowhere X Adventure wear on BONFIRE. We all need their positive vibes displayed out in the Universe!! - Bill
I think the biggest thing to think about, and there are many “big things”, is money. I’m a nurse so I can travel. I can make money literally anywhere, therefore, the traveling life in a camper is for me. So ask yourself: what money do have to live on/can live on? Also think about the length of travel when it comes to money. Right now I could travel for 2 years and not work a day. Are you in that position? If not, work on it! Travel without the need to work but the option to work. Just my current two cents. :)
Good for you! That is so awesome! Honestly, no we couldn't do that. But our goals are different so we are currently working in preparation for other plans that require some serious funds. Have fun out there!
We made the leap in June. It's only been a couple of months but it's been the greatest time of our lives. Thank you for inspiring us!
You are so welcome! You have no idea how much joy that brings me to hear!
Y’all have a channel? Or anything blogging it!?

Please tell me I'm not the only one who thought this was about time travel
😂😂😂
I literally had my time travel clothes packed AND I was ready to eat the food of the future and the past... but not the present.
Still laughing
Thanks so much this info, it's exactly what we needed to meet our goal of getting on the road by 5/2024
Yayyyyy 2024 here you come! Best of luck!

Full time/long term life on the road isn't for us, but we find the process kind of fascinating. Thanks for sharing!
“It wouldn’t be a video unless I burped” :-)
Keeping it real by adding the bloopers at the end ... 👍👍
During the time you traveled every weekend, what kind of vehicle were you using and what kind of water system ended up working best for you?
