Thanks for the reply. That was a great video. And it's still got a decent head of brown trout? What about sea trout now? Have you tried Fly. What works there? @@adventurefishinguk
@@ParcelOfRogue fly fishing and spinning work great. Unfortunately sea trout are very rare nowadays, I catch about one a season. Funnily enough I caught one the other day, that will be the next video 👍
Yes, I've had several weeks in last 3 years in scotland on southern Lewis and Harris (spectacular and signs of salmon), also the Orchy (spectacular), the Annan ( waste of time) and the Findhorn ( spectacular and signs of salmon ), but almost no signs of sea trout. So I thought I would connect with my youth in Lancashire, originally from Wigan. @@adventurefishinguk

Thanks mate! I’m aiming to try to get them better every time haha I think the conditions on the river helped me out a lot felt ideal. Think I will try for some salmon one day that river used to be full of them apparently but nowadays only a few are caught
Really enjoyed this video. That big brownie was a cracking fish. The ladybug lure is pretty cool. I’ve got some crank baits to try this year. Never used them before.
Thank you i'm really glad you enjoyed the video! I couldn't recommend them enough, especially the salmo hornet. I have a new video coming out today trout fishing would be great to hear what you think!
I have some crank baits to try this year but have never used them before. I have read about not using a swivel as this can cause problems with their action in the water however I’m using a fixed spool reel and read about line twist being an issue.
@@alanpaterson9543 I’ve also heard about line twist being an issue but I’ve fished a lot with them and never experienced it, might be a problem if you’re planning on using really light line but 8lb+ you should be fine
Nice video, well done on the Sea Trout and that was a nice brownie. One tip on surface lures, for what it's worth.... don't strike at the splash, wait until the line goes tight,or you feel the fish.....not easy to do though!! 🎣
@@adventurefishinguk you need to just keep retrieving, until you feel the tug...they might have half a dozen goes at it....... I actually think striking at the splash puts them off.....nerves of steel buddy!! 👍🎣😉
Thanks mate glad you liked it, hopefully I’ll be down the river a lot a bit later on in the season. My club only allows lure fishing from June I think it is!
Great stuff, really good stuff 👍. You're definitely a good fisherman fella, you sure can catch em 🙂. Well done man, that last big trout was a beauty 👍. Really good watch . All the best mate, Rick
Thanks Rick! I’ve still got a lot to learn in terms of using the right gear for the right situations etc, I tend to stick to what I know! Glad you enjoyed watching, thanks for the comment!
Fish at 5:29 looks like brownie mid change to sea trout, I caught one last week most unique trout I've ever seen, think it was mid change, caught 2 sea trout same day
Do you have any tips for using the crankbaits? I went to look at the ultralight minnows at the best tackle shop here in town, and the number of different options was overwhelming. Floating, sinking, sinking finesses, diving, etc. Is there a particular kind that you would recommend for starting out with these kinds of lures? I'd most likely be casting in small rivers and creeks similar to what you are doing in this video. I have only ever really used spoons or jigs before outside of float fishing with spawn sacks.
For starting I'd say use some floating ones mate. It will make your life easier in shallow water when you can let it lift out in the current. Sinking is good for deeper water too and you should definitely try mepps spinners
great video mate and I have caught a few of yours now. that ladybird lure looks nuts!! question for you do you not worry about using a wire trace in Freshwater? I find there are blooming pike everywhere
Thanks mate, glad you liked it! A lot of the freshwater places I fish don't have pike, like this one for example 👍 I normally do use a trace if theres pike present, unless im using a micro jig with a single hook. Hope this helps!
Great video mate, looks so much fun! Really makes me wanna try this sort of fishing. Would be good if you us what rod, reel and lures/spinners your using to catch those trouts! Tight lines bud 🎣
I use a rigged and ready travel rod but and fairly light spinning rod will do! I use 4lb line mostly or 6-8lb sometimes, as for lures I use a 3.5cm salmo hornet! Basic spinners work well too, if you have any specific questions feel free to ask! Tight lines 🐟
Nice video mate, I fish a small stream that runs into the wyre for browns since being a little kid . Is this stretch on a day ticket and if so where can you purchase the tickets from please ? There’s about 4 different local clubs that control most parts and it’s very confusing who to contact . Thanks
It’s a fantastic fishing club, in a member of a club called wyresdale anglers based in Scorton. Excellent fishing I joined because there’s an under 30s reduced price to try get more people into the club!
I'm definitely heading over the Wyre. I used to catch sea trout there in my teens in the 70's

Another good video, that was a belting big Broon Troot, the Sea Troot looked like a Herling, also known as a Finnock.

You might be right! This place is quite far inland though
In line swivel needed with the lady bird spinner...
Why is that? I don’t think anything spins on the ladybird
@@adventurefishinguk allow it to maintain the same angle in the water and prevent twist in the line. All spinners should be used with a swivel
