    Just fished the Poudre river west of Fort Collins yesterday. River is super low this time of year. The Browns are getting ready to spawn. Was using Rapala CD5's in Brook Trout and Brown Trout patterns. Pretty successful day! 1x Cutbow, 1x Brown and 1x fat Rainbow. Was also fly fishing but took all my fish on crankbaits. Great video 🍻

      Thanks for watching mate! Sounds like a great day's fishing you had. Is a cut bow a cross between a cutthroat and a rainbow? Never heard of that before!

    • @the_boonies

      @@adventurefishinguk Yeah mate you got it! Cutthroat are the native species of Colorado. Rainbows and Browns were introduced. Rainbows can interbreed and the offspring are called Cutbows. They are bred and stocked from captivity too. I'm actually Welsh, from just north of Cardiff. Been over here 22yrs. Great channel you have here! Subscribed 😎🍻

    I'm catching up on your latest video's but thanks to this one, I remember chubs exist in the first place. I had to translate to Dutch to find out what they are called here. They do live here in The Netherlands, but are not a popular predator fish. Those are pike, zander, perch, asp, cat fish and eel for fresh water. Chub seems to be more of a fish that is occasionally caught with maggots.

      I'm used to using traces,@@adventurefishinguk; mainly due to pike and perch being in my usual local waters.
      How would you recommend replacing the wire trace for trout?
      My usual rig is braid mainline - anti-kink vane - flouro/mono leader - wire trace
      Maybe a low-visibility snap swivel or link tied on with heavy flouro/mono...?
      Assuming you reply to this, please try not to suggest anything too small, as I'm not the best with extremely fine/small gear; I just don't have the fine motor skill...

I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

    that special colour is actually one of the least fishy of all the colours, use the 2 brown trout looking ones and the rainbow trout coloured one, Try it over time and you will see why they are better than that one.

    Why they call it fishing. You never know what’s going to take the bait. In those conditions trout will like the deeper water or in the faster water that has some depth so they can stay cool. I’ve seen them in those conditions actually borough a little in the mud to stay cool. Thanks for the vid it is fun watching get after them

    Also why crush the barbs?

    • @dougreid1951
      @dougreid1951 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're planning to release the fish, why have the barb at all?
      Most of my trout fishing is done with flies and switching from barbed to barbless had no effect on the lost fish to landed fish ratio ( I usually lose one in three), but they are easier to release, especially the little ones.

      I meant more for the dissolved oxygen concentrations. They can struggle to recover after being caught if the water temps are approaching 20. Maybe it is not that high yet though.

    • @callumnoblett4905
      @callumnoblett4905 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lots of fly fisherman not going out in this heat as it puts a lot of stress on the fish.
      Keep in them in the net to de-stress , recover a bit. Anything much above 20 is a bit too warm.
      Quite a few fishing waters in the S.E of England actually close when it gets too hot in summer
