You need to use an enzyme cleaner or the smell will linger for years, natural cleaners only mask the smell temporarily and doesn't have the ability to break down and remove the uric acid. For fabric on couches and chairs, completely soak the area and allow to dry, if done right it should take 3-4 days to dry, as the urine has obviously soaked into the cushion and the enzyme needs to go deep enough.
Very helpful thanks! I will try this on my sofa where the cat peed as just can’t get rid of that smell 🤢 suspect I will need to use an enzyme cleaner though otherwise the cat will still be able to smell it and will keep going back there 😔
@@LotteRoach thanks Lotte - so far it looks promising, can’t smell any trace of the wee and the cat has stopped weeping there as well which is a bonus!
@@LotteRoach I handle it like baking soda and sprinkle on, brush it in slightly then leave for as long as you can. Vacuum up once finished. It leaves it smelling great.
My fav technique is to soak up the pee using toilet rolls, then put baking powder on it. Let it dry. Spray disinfectant and let it sit for a while and with a wet cloth, wipe it all off. Let the couch dry in the sun and before that spray some perfumed disinfectant on it.
Massive help, my boy is having accidents as he doesn’t like having his nighttime nappy on and takes it off after peeing. Add to that a puppy who doesn’t always go outside to pee and the house just smells of wee constantly!
I’m with you, I had a sofa in a container at work for a week moving it from a house to mine, but when it was at mine it stank if either fox or rat pee, I’ve scrubbed with laundry tabs and scent boosters and sprayed with pet urine spray also put bi carb on and hovered, still bad smell but getting slowly better, can anyone recommend anything else? 🥹

With your accent, my wife understood POO or POOP for your loveseat. I was like no, she is cleaning pee off something she is calling her poop, I think she means her loveseat (couch for two). Can you clear up that poop word for us Americans?

What enzyme cleaner do you recommend for removing old cat urine odors off a fabric sofa?
@@JoSanOngOut! or Trixie. Nothing else will work. Remember cats have a sense of smell 40x better than ours!

I have this issue with my dogs, I've found washing powder to be the most effective. Never tried soda crystals though. Next sofa will be leather 😩
Great idea!!

Good explanation ❤
Thank you 🙂
2-3months update on the smell? any changes?
I think I’m over 2 years now and still no smell 🥰
So do you recommend the doing soda crystals first & then the Dettol spray?
yes as it did helped :)
Did the smell came back after all this?
Nope not even a little bit 🥰
I’ve had my sofa cleaned by a professional cleaning company because my cat peed on the sofa. The smell has come back. Will this stop the smells?
Yes it should do. Mines kept clean ever since

Where did you get the sofa crystals from??
Soda*
You can get them in home bargains or the supermarket x
Can't you take the covers off and toss them the washer
No it’s stapled on to the wood
Alright, shall try it. Newborn puppy thought the couch is its pee tray 😅😨
Oh dear. This will help with the smell for sure 🥰
Does this eliminate pet urine? X
