    Yes!!! Shampooing rugs with pets definitely draws up the smell. Smells GREAT while its drying but after its dry, that bacteria KICKS in. We have 4 dogs and 2 cats, 2 of our older dogs are now incontinent. My best advice, shampoo with an enzyme pet shampoo, i HIGHLY recommend "Pure Ayre" not natures miracle. Let it fully dry, if that bacteria smell pops up then shampoo with odoban. Works for us. Also, vinegar works amazing too!

      Hi La Original, I agree, however putting in new flooring isn't always an affordable option. Also, many of my clients are not living in the houses that they're selling, they're simply running the sale of their loved ones estates. This video is meant more to help those in a home that already has a urine or pet odor problem.

      Hi Jenni, animal urine is, as I assume you’re finding out, difficult to remove. How I’ve dealt with it is to thoroughly clean the floors and then seal them with a product like Kilz. The other option would be to hire a company to sand the floors (hopefully removing the urine odor), retain and seal the floors. Hope this helps!

    After you scrape the dried pad from the concrete, what product do you use to clean the concrete before applying Kilz?

    • @ProbateandTrustHelp
      @ProbateandTrustHelp  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question Theauthor Little! After scraping, vacuum up the debris and if there is still some sticky stuff, I would use TSP for a final cleaning. I would then let it dry for a day or so before applying the KILZ. But, much of the time, especially if you plan to install new pad/carpet, simply scraping, vacuuming and painting with KILZ will suffice.

      thats a difficult one... because the floor is wood its going to be a challenge. We have used a floor scraper in the past, but again that would mess up the original wood floor. I would try some sort of solvent with a plastic scrapper rather then a metal one like we usually use. Be sure to check that the solvent wont damage the wood. Good luck, please let us know how it goes.

    Have you ever tried Electrolyzed Water? So simple - just salt and water, but needs to be electrolyzed to change the structure to HOCl. It becomes a really good cleaner, with a neutral charge that cleans better than most household cleaners, kills all the germs and bacteria that cause odour, and reverts back to natural producs so is environmentally friendly!

      Hi Snny, since technically San Diego is a desert, I haven’t had any experience with mold under carpet or pad. Of course, if there is water intrusion, the seller would need to have a company come in and dry out or remove any areas that would have water damage. I have seen situations where there was a water leach and the drywall was removed up 24”, but the flooring was concrete.

      Hi Joyce, hardwood flooring is a tough one. I would say speak with a professional and see what they recommend. Most of the techniques I have learned over the years involve deep cleaning, but if the smell/stains are bad enough then removing the carpet may be necessary. After that the next steps would be resealing the subfloor, and installing new carpet. When smokers and cat owners use air fresheners, it's so gross. All I could smell was a nasty mixture of both.
    The house we bought smelled fine but now that it's warm, somehow the concrete from the unfinished basement is letting off some nasty smells, likely urine. I'm going to try sealing it with an acrylic sealer to try to trap it in. I'm betting the urine is long since soaked into the concrete pores. We had our tiles sealed at an other house for the same problem and it really got rid of the smell. Fingers crossed.
    Tldr: pets are gross and don't belong in houses; pet owners usually have nasty houses and low clean standards

      @@ProbateandTrustHelp lol I love your video. I would have never though that ammonia could make pet odor worse. I shared that with one of my coworkers yesterday who has a dog. I always think of ammonia when I think of eliminating odors but in this case I think bleach would be best. I’m currently saving up to buy a multi-family rental property. I’m not allowing my tenants to have pets but in the event that the previous tenants had pets at least I’ll know how to get rid of the odor. I definitely want to do a through cleaning before renting or showing the unit to a prospective tenant. ❤️❤️❤️
