Lots of good advice there, thanks Wal and Liz. We met a foreign bloke way out in the bush in WA. He had flown into Perth, bought a $6000 4WD from a dealer and set off for places unknown in an untried and unchecked car. We discovered that he did not even know how to change a flat tyre! No one knew where he was, including himself, and no one would have missed him had he not returned. He did have a nice haul of gold, but he could have died for it! You CANNOT overprepare for outback Oz, but many just take off without much thought. As you said, you can go for months and not see a soul, it has happened to us too. A fellow I know used to say, "You can't educate mugs!" and I think that he may be right. Good on ya Wal and Liz and thanks again.
Walter Kerr Thanks for the comment Walter and totally agree that some who chase gold in the remoteness of the WA Goldfields are taking a very big risk. It doesn't take much of an error to get yourself into a life threatening situation, and several have perished through either complacency or being ill prepared. Even experienced and seasoned prospectors can run into bad luck, let alone the newcomers who are over there on their first ever adventure. Hopefully the two missing over there at the moment get found safely. Take care and all the best...Wal.
Thank you! As I am very new to this fossicking and I literally have rocks tumbling as we speak!
Best of luck with your collecting Colleen.
You two are amazing, I've been prospecting for three years in Arizona and haven't thought of half of the things you two have. Awesome advice for a small solar unit. It's now on my to buy list. Also that motorcycle and rear mounted rack is just what I need. Thank you two very much. May there always be GOLD in your pan. A. Gilbert
+sgt gilbert Thanks for the kind comment Gilbert and may luck follow you around on the gold fields over there in Arizona. All the best...Wal.
I love watching you guys doing what you love..Liz's excitement is contagious.
All advice is extremely valid and useful, especially the GPS comments. I went to the bush dunny one day, it was less than 50m from camp and I got lost on the way back! Lesson learned - ALWAYS carry a GPS. - Chris from Mates and Gold.
+Mates and Gold ...Thanks for watching. Always better to be safe than sorry as complacency out in the scrub can very easily lead to negative outcomes. Take care...Wal.
Good Video Wal And Liz,
If you remember there was 2 blokes who died last year after braking down in QLD. Died within 20km of their vehicle. It is sad but true that even people familiar with outback travel get into deep trouble quickly.
Hope they find the couple in WA. Their dog would not have made its way back to the park if they were okay.
CR
Coyote Rider Thanks for the comment CR and I'm with you in hoping the missing couple in WA at the moment are found safe. The outback can very easily catch you off guard and a simple mistake could cost you your life. Just hope everybody venturing out there takes the time to plan their adventure with sufficient emphasis on what can easily go wrong. Take care out there CR. Cheers Wal.
Preparation is always key. It's better to be over-prepared and not need it. I know all about this as I have recently delved into the world of mining old caves and tunnels. I must say, I still prefer to be above ground! Best of luck to you guys.
Eric Real Deal Deleel Agree with you Eric, and it's always better to be prepared with a backup plan if venturing to isolated locations...especially where lack of water is an issue. Still some good gold left in tunnels, and reparation is even more paramount when exploring them, as gas and cave-ins need serious consideration. Take care in there mate, and hope some seams show themselves for you. Cheers Wal.
Sure would love to go prospecting with you all. I am from the American Pacific Northwest and live near several gold bearing streams and rivers, that have sections designated as public panning areas, no claims allowed. I enjoy going out and doing a few pans, really enjoy it, when I do find some gold, even if it is just a few flakes. I cannot wait until you put some new adventures up, think I have watched all of your videos.
I have just found your videos today. Thank you for sharing such great knowledge, I loved watching this video. It has been my dream to visit the Goldfields, and seeing this was so lovely. Your finds were awesome and I loved seeing your excitement. Happy prospecting, xxx
+Louisa Rose... Glad you found some of our vids Louisa and thanks for the kind comment. Hope you get to visit many gold fields yourself and all the very best of luck out there. Cheers Wal.
Nice vid, and excellent reminder for everyone; newbie or veteran prospector.... Thank you.... Hoping you and Liz stay safe and find lots of gold...
MsSephrena Thanks for watching Sephrena, and hopefully the vid helps some of the newer prospectors out there plan their adventures. All the best...Wal.
Wal and Liz thanks for posting such a great video like the idea of a scout vehicle and liked the way you weaved in some great 4wd tips. ll the best for your trip over this year! Ian
Willo's Australian coin, relic and gold detecting Thanks for the comment Ian. Just hope that the vid goes in some way to bring attention to what can go wrong if ill prepared. Too many prospectors just go out there and "Wing It", so to speak, thinking nothing will ever go wrong. When it does go wrong in isolated regions it quite often can have dire consequences. Take care and hope the gold is being kind to you. Cheers Wal.
Nice job once again guys, hope one day to make it Down under for a walk about in the Goldfields of Victoria and Kalgoorie and find nuggets like that. Would love to go prospecting with you two and maybe even Slim can come too if customs doesn't mind to much. Take care and keep finding those Monster nuggets.
nice pan,,,wow
Very nice, congratulations.
***** Thanks for watching Jeff and certainly let me know if ever you head over this way for a prospecting vacation. I'm sure both you and Slim would enjoy the scenery and the prospecting. Take care over your way and may the gold be kind to you. All the best...Wal.
bob k. Thanks for watching Bob. All the best...Wal.
Jami Ross Thanks for watching Jami. Cheers Wal.
What a great video!! Thats entertainment when im not in the bush right there.. Great job Walnliz
+ozoffroader Glad you enjoyed the vid offroader. Take care...Wal.
Wow. This is the first step by step preparation video I've seen. Great job to both of you. Love the tips and the Humor. You guys might of saved some poor dope like me. Gold is attractive but not worth dying for. Cheers
Patrick Taylor Glad you found the vid informative Patric and thanks for the kind comment. Hope luck follows you around on the goldfields. Take care...Wal.
Even somewhere 'civilized' like the Norfolk coast has dangers from cliff falls, a mile from a resort but if there has been rain to make them unstable I listen for anything falling, Last night at the Norfolk Mineral & Lapidary Society meeting they liked my gold and rubies (one a star ruby) ... So much that 2 members want me to take them on a trip to look for more.
Rory Bowskill Take care when you take those folk out on a trip mate. All the best...Wal.
As always a fantastic video and very pertinent to gold prospecting at the moment with the sad news of the lost prospectors in WA.
Matt Fitzgerald Thanks for watching Matt. Certainly very sad the situation in WA. Take care...Wal.
I have driven a 4 wheel and yes they can get suck and break an axle very easily. Care and precaution is a must. This takes on a new meaning of out back. Good day mate.
Hope you enjoyed the vid TH and all the best....Wal.
Excellent; every new prospector should watch this! I keep reading stories about weekend prospectors getting bitten by snakes or broken ankles, and having to struggle to get back to their cars....
Masked Marvyl Thanks for watching MM and hope you found it informative. Take care and all the best...Wal.
Wow! I really enjoyed this trip. Nice gold. Giving me the fever. Time to take a break from work and go play. Keep the videos coming.
indyme2 Glad you enjoyed it indy and all the very best...Wal.
Thanks for the advise once again. Great set up keep up the good work 👍
Free Life ...Thanks for watching and hope all’s going great over your way. Cheers Wal.
Yep. Looks like the place we hunt in above Del Rio Texas USA. Very similar but not as remote we get non potable water from a windmill that produces water for sheep....great advice! We do almost the same thing, plus have a wench it you get stuck in the creek.....better to be smart than be dead.
Greetings from Humboldt County,California USA.I really enjoyed this video, thank you. I prospected for years in remote areas of the Mojave desert.Nothing as this however it doesn't take much to get lost or have things go bad on ya .I spent a whole day trying to get out of a canyon /gully/wash ,moved about 20 yards in four hours. At any rate BE PREPARED, yes. Thanks again keep up the good work.
RPM Blues Thanks for watching and commenting RPM and glad you also get out there and enjoy the adventures that isolation can bring. I totally agree with you that preparation is the key to a successful trip as complacency has a habit of turning nasty on you, at the worst possible moment. Take care out there on the Mojave and best of luck with the prospecting. Cheers Wal.
Wal nLiz
Thanks for responding Wal. I now live in the Giant Redwoods far north of the Mojave desert,it is so beautiful here but I do miss the desert.I started collecting fossils here in Humboldt county.Take a look on my channel if you wish.Happy hunting my friend. Randy
RPM Blues Sounds like you're in a great area Randy, and hunting for fossils is a pastime both Liz and I enjoy immensely. Will certainly check out your channel and best of luck on the next hunt. All the best...Wal.
I love the whole adventure feeling there is in this vid. Also a little danger. Thank you so much for sharing. I hope one day I will be there driving very careful and finding a few nuggis. It is not the gold for me but the journie to get it.
Foilmagnet Thanks for the comment Foilmagnet and hope that one day you get that chance to share the adventure on the gold fields. Take care...Wal.
Good advise walnliz ,Australia can be beautiful but also brutal, thanks for another great vid. Take care.
Buzzthemuzz Glad you enjoyed it Buzz, and agree with you that it can be brutal if one doesn't follow the basic rules. Take care...Wal.
Seriousness stuff and fun as well. Great presentation guys, love it as usual :D
Gav Stain Hope all's going great Gav and have to catch up soon mate. Take care...Wal.
Hiya Wal, how's things? It's going to be a busy weekend in Canberra this coming Anzac Day Weekend. I was hoping to be at the dawn service at the memorial but things are a bit hectic up here so next time perhaps. I'll pm you on fb re a fishing weekend in the planning for June. Talk soon :D
Excellent video! I envy the life you all live! Lol I can tell you two really love each other and thoroughly enjoy being together. May God bless you and keep you safe.
Thanks for the very kind comment CT and glad to hear that you enjoyed the vid. All the very best for 2017. Cheers Wal.
good tips & nice campsight you got their wal nLiz, not to mention the gold.
+1uptospeed... Thanks for watching and glad you find it informative. All the best...Wal.

Stay safe, and good luck
Kane Dalton Thanks for the comment Kane and hope all's great over your way. Cheers Wal.
Yep, another week and a half of work
Then heading back up to the north palmer
Best of luck up there mate...great area that North Palmer. Take care up there...Wal.
as You said, Safety First.
Happy watching. Thanks.
Good Luck.
Thanks for watching Limb. All the best...Wal.
Great tips for anyone out in the wild !! Thanks...joe in ny
J D Knifeworks joe dishaw Glad you enjoyed the vid J D, and hope all's going great over your way. Cheers Wal.
It's better when you make a fire in an area like that to build small stone wall around the fire to prevent the wind blowing sparks around. Leaving holes for air of course, but really don't want to have a fire.
NeonsStyle Thanks for the comment Neons and agreed a stone wall is agood idea if in a windy region. Out in our areas we tend to dig a fire pit to keep the ashes hot longer as wood is a scarce commodity.Take care...Wal.
Good video! Lots of great information. The adventure is always the best part of any journey... but, several large nugs can't hurt either!
+john burens ...Glad you enjoyed the vid John. Western Australian gold fields are always kind to us but you certainly need to be prepared to stay safe in that environment. Hope all's going great over your way. Cheers Wal.
Speeding up when crossing muddy or wet spots is very wise. Otherwise you can easily get bogged down. How safe is the natural water out there to drink?
Thanks for watching bluenet. This is mostly desert country and the water is ok to drink, but it is best to filter it where possible. All the best...Wal.
Liz you will get better at 4w driving with practice and get to love it.
great video, love it
Thanks for watching 89 and glad you enjoyed the vid. Take care...Wal.
I love this video. I'm moving to WA in august from Ireland. do you guys do this for a living as well as a hobby?
Thanks for watching John. We do this on a semi professional basis and spend a lot of time in the great outdoors. Good luck and all the best...Wal.
Very timely video guys given the missing prospectors in WA. Well done - a good civic service.
I notice you had a page button on your gps. For those who don't, then I suggest carrying a CB radio. Car comms are also pretty handy.
Dan O'Hara Thanks for the comment Dan and sure hope there's a positive outcome for the couple missing on the gold fields at the moment. Inexperience and one mistake in lack of judgement can often not go well for you. Hoping they get found alive....Take care...Wal.
I'm thinking of trying the rivers of the north of Scotland as It has a good rep and great scenery. Great video and great finds.
Alexander Presslie Glad you enjoyed the vid Alexander and hope luck follows you around on those Scottish gold fields. Take care...Wal.
You had me at "Ahoy Matey"! I cracked up. Your videos are excellent, both informative and highly entertaining. That country looks beautiful and very rugged. Do you see lots of snakes? One of these days I want to hire you guys to take me prospecting.
+Le Kre ...Thanks for watching and glad you found the vid informative. We rarely see any snakes and one needs to go out of ones way to actively seek them out if wanting to see one. Many people have the wrong ideas of what is dangerous in the outback and in isolated locations, believing snakes, scorpions, spiders wild animals etc are what poses the dangers. The reality is none of these pose serious problems, and the real danger is being ill prepared with necessities such as water, food, getting lost, and under estimating mother nature. Preparation is the big key to an enjoyable trip into the wilderness. Take care...Wal.
You guys are great. Thanks for these videos..
THEDRAGONBOOSTER8 Thanks for watching dragonbooster and hope all's great over your way....Wal.
That is so much fun. Those nuggets, wow. Congrats.
yack f zay Prospecting in the remote wilderness can be a great adventure. Hoping all who venture out that way stay safe. All the very best...Wal.
A Smart person knows their limitations when it comes to safety. Only the fool takes a risk when they are not sure. Good video, and it's good to see this thinking applied for driving.
NeonsStyle Thanks for the comment Neon and totally agree that risks have no place in remote isolated regions where just one mistake could cost you your life. Take care out there...Wal.
Your 4x4 looks like my 1986 Isuzu Trooper "aka The Money Pit "Im rebuilding her and is almost ready to make adventure ! All the places I would love to go with her, your in one of them. Along with the Klondike in Canada, the Bering Sea and glaciers in Alaska,ect,ect,ect........Happy hunting you two ! Cheers..................
+SAM F ...Thanks for watching Sam. Hope the rebuild goes well and that she gets you and all the gear to those places. I too wish to get to some of the same locations, and the Bering Sea is on top of that list. Take care out there...Wal.
very nice and informatif video , i love those nuggets ...
wish i could be nuggethunting here too
tnt neon Glad you found it informative tnt. Many are getting lost on our gold fields and perishing through lack of preparation. We're hoping this vid can shed some light on the dangers for newcomers to gold prospecting. All the best...Wal.
I can imagine ...
floods , extreme hot wheather , snakes...
it all adds to the adventure but , but it also can cost lives..
so thx for pointing out the dangers.
all the best John
Wow great video W&L . Congratulations on all the sweet finds . Best wishes my friends GL&HH
Metal4Detecting Glad you enjoyed it Metal4 and stay safe out there in the paddock. All the best...Wal.

Oh - forgot to mention. Great nuggs! Well done. We'll be in WA within 4 weeks now. Hopefully there's some gold left!
Dan O'Hara Take care over there Dan and hope the gold is kind to you. Cheers Wal.
Happy for you. Well, that appeared on TH-cam.
Rinat9746 Thanks for watching Rinat. All the best...Wal.
I am in Australia an a won't to find gold but i don't know were to look or how I should get it can you help me out
An love the channel keep up the great work
glad you enjoy some of our vids Jack. Probably the best way to have some success prospecting over here is to go on a "Tag Along" trip with of the groups doing Gold Tours. Have a look on the net as there is quite a few of these services available. Best of luck....Wal.
I luv ur guys videos
very interesting , but note at 9:40 someone running in the bush . lol
+JesusIsTheSonOfGOD7 ...Thanks for watching. That was our friend pointing out the best entry spot into the creek. All the best....Wal.
I like what you do, congratulations.
Taino Hunter Thanks for the kind comment Taino, and thanks for watching. Cheers Wal.
Thanks for taking me along on your excrison and it
sure looks like i was good luck in you finding gold LOL .
gary whelton Thanks for watching Gary and hope you enjoyed the terrain on the WA goldfields. All the very best...Wal.
do the trees have some indication of where gold may be cause i understand gold is a metal and the color of gold is a coloring chemical so maybe if the sienery has good color maybe similar color there may be more gold ther,, also maybe if the land looks like it bears good fruit, where there is rockery,,,,, good luck i hope i can also find money to be happy casue also gold is kind of beautiful and a amazing electronics performance metal, look good too,, good luck
That looks way too scarey for me. Lucky im in the uk so i cant be tempted. Love your videos. X
Caroline Robinson Thanks for watching Caroline. If you're prepared for this kind of adventure you rarely get into trouble. Some of the scenery and gold we encounter requires being in very remote locations. All the best...Wal.
Very well done IMO. Entertaining yet informative. Here in Arizona, we are not nearly as remote, but still plenty of room between people. We have about 250 illegal immigrants die every year in this sector from exposure, etc. due to the remoteness and the lack of humanity in the smugglers. They will happily lead people to their deaths for a profit.
Keep up the good videos.

Video molto bello,Ottimo su reperti ,Complimenti per tutto l'oro che siete riusciti a mettere in padella, :-)) LooL !! Gran bel lavoro,Ciao Endriu
Endriu Detectort Thanks for watching Endriu. All the very best...Wal.
Wonderful video! Enjoyed every moment. Lots of good info, too! Thanks...........Ross
Ross Sullivan Glad you enjoyed it Ross. Hope all's great over your way.... Wal.
+Harold Hackler ...Thanks for watching Harold. We do have a set of radios and mainly use them when a vehicle descends a difficult hill and messages need to be relayed back to the second vehicle. All the best...Wal.
2 way radios are pretty good insurance in the bush, sat phone even better.
Thanks for watching Hoverbot, and I agree that the more safety gear one has in isolated regions the better. Take care...Wal.
We have big fuzzy bears and cougars which are a bit more direct hazards here. :o) I use my quadcopter to check areas out first. The Fraser river has claimed many gold panners here over the last 250 years. You have some great ground there distant but a little less mountain forestry to deal with LOL! Search up Gold trails and ghost towns for our BC gold history. Cheers! just ordered an AT gold for coming low river season.
One good thing about Australia is we don't have any wild animals that are a threat to prospectors. Good luck with your detecting this coming season. Cheers Wal.
Big Nugget.
Congratulations ^^
sin-won lee Thanks for watching sin-won lee and hope you enjoyed the vid. Cheers Wal.
I think there's gold in that gully, please go back, and check it for me, send me half of whatever you find. Thanks for all the fun videos.
Thanks for watching Moon. Take care...Wal.
Wal nLiz
I really did like the looks of that gully.
It's been very kind to us over the last few years mate....All the best...Wal.
Nice gold nugget lol Happy hunting
Radu Blaga Thanks for watching Radu and hope you found it of interest. All the very best...Wal.
Happy Prospecting to you
3 vehicles for me great video thank you who owns all that land? or, do you have to get permission or pay fees ?
pappawheely Got a young couple missing as we speak in WA. Their camp has been found but not the young chap and his wife. very easy to get lost out there and once lost it never end well. This area is mainly large stations. Prospecting is permitted with prospecting license throughout the whole state. Take care out there...Wal.
Wal nLiz thank you the prospecting licence? can you explain a little more? price and limitations rules, no biggi , just curious love to you guys and good luck that was a good haul you got there...
pappawheely In Western Australia you need a Miners right which is very cheap at around $25 and lasts for a lifetime....once only purchase. There are quite a few rules as to where you can prospect and that can be searched on the WA 10 graph mines department site. Cheers Wal.
pappawheely A lot of the land is crown land owned by the government and anyone can prospect on this. There are also some very large stations, especially in WA and permission is quite readily obtained for access to these lands. The main restrictions are on existing mining claims and these need specific permission to gain access. All the best...Wal.
Dear Liz. Thank you for your swift answer. Be kind and just listen to yourself with an open mind. I would always be glad if some person would invest in me to help me. May the good Lord watch over you and keep you. Harry van Niekerk.
Harry van Niekerk Thanks for the kind comment Harry, and all the very best to you. Cheers Wal.
Cool
Gage Kinsey Hope you enjoyed it Gage and all the best....Wal.
GPS.. log campsite and any 'hot spots'.
Rory Bowskill Truth in that Rory. All the gold in the world can't bring back a life lost on the goldfields. Take care...Wal.
WHERE WERE YOU WHERE ABOUT
+TheOrchidGuru22 ...In the Kimberly region of Western Australia. All the best...Wal.
nice camp have any snakes, gators, big spiders,,you think i could camp in a tent safely,,,i'm getting turned on watching your off road camp sight i'd think i could surive a season there goldhoging with my friend,,,i love shrimps on the barbie
robert betts Thanks for the comment Robert. Camping in a tent is very safe over here and you wouldn't have any problems spending a season under canvas at all. Just don't venture long distances from your camp without a hand held GPS as it is very easy to get lost. Take care...Wal.
What a small world... I guess miners are miners no matter where we live.
R0TGRUB Small world that's for sure mate. Thanks for watching and hope all's great over your way. Take care...Wal.
Hope they find the missing prospectors over there soon , times running out fast
barry warznal With you on that one Barry. Fingers crossed that the wife is still found alive. Sad to hear about the guy. Cheers Wal.
Sometimes it is 🤠
do you kids carry any weapons with you? just in case...
hell0hkitty we’re pretty lucky that we really never have any reason to carry weapons as the areas we prospect are quite safe. Cheers Wal
ha, I would die for that much gold!
TheSamchilders Lol...we wouldn't want that Sam. Hope you found the vid informative and all the very best...Wal.
A video on safety tips, yet you travel with someone that can not drive competently and you ride a bike with no helmet over rough terrain. What happens if you break yours legs or get bitten buy a mulga snake? Happy hunting and be safe out there...
Prospector Pete Thanks for watching Pete. The temperature in this area is close to 40 degrees and the terrain is such that you can best do only a few km. an hour and at this speed and temperature, wearing a helmet will give me more chance of heat exhaustion and hence accident prone than not using a helmet. I always have a helmet for areas that require more speed. As far as Liz being incompetent as a driver, she is fully licensed and has been for a very long time. If you watch the video carefully, you will have noticed reference being made to her not driving in dangerous situations. It is far better to have two drivers in remote regions than just a single driver. But thanks for your concerns and hope you stay safe out there in the paddock. Cheers, Wal
Love your videos ,keep trying to subscribe but it offers to unsubscribe only. Thanks for sharing
Dear Liz, a very sober video. I will surely keep it in mind when the opportunity arise. But I do not feel I can watch your video in comfort when you take my Lord`s Name in vain. Probably you do not mean harm, but it is hurt full to me. It is unnessicary, ther are other ways you can express your joy. Harry van Niekerk.
Harry van Niekerk We do not feel we take the lords name in vain and are in fact Christians ourselves. This is unfortunately the 21st century and praising the lord for what we find can be misinterpreted by some with a different viewpoint to ourselves, and as such are entitled to their own religious interpretation which best suits them. We live as Christians, and feel the context of our expressions is not offensive to the lord. Sorry if you find offense, and your choice to watch must be made from your own personal viewpoint. Take care....Wal.
Is good lucky
Waw hee
yr wife very friendly... ilike her...
+muazz 1991 Thanks for watching Muazz. Take care...Wal.

+cromwell13649 Thanks for watching cromwell. I was actually born in Austria myself and always wished we had as much history over here in Australia to warrant treasure hunting. I'll check out your channel. All the best...Wal.
Hi Thank you . I am English from Nottingham but live between Vienna and Bratislava near Hainberg . Not sure if you know it ,.Its a small world
+cromwell13649 I was born in Leoben...not far from Graz...but have been in Australia for 55 years.
