There's nothing quite like the feeling of finding something valuable in the middle of nothing. It's like it was lying there just waiting for you to find it and bring it to life. And that's the attraction of gold prospecting... you're hunting treasure and although you are very unlikely to bring home the big pot of gold, you can usually bring home a little treasure of your very own. It's magical!

    • @kaynef6637
      @kaynef6637 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

If the gold you find does not cover the renting of equipment and the guide then you are just paying to line someone else’s pockets and do hard work as well . Do you seriously think he had not been over that ground in the past and taken any larger nuggets ? Don’t be a low hanging fruit .

@@kaynef6637 What do you pay for entertainment? Pay for a movie? Pay for a ball game? What do your hobbies cost? What do you get out of it? Well... that's the same thing you get out of gold prospecting... enjoyment. And there's value in that.

It’s like they say. Metal detecting is one of the few hobbies that can actually pay for itself. People do spend their Saturdays metal detecting and sometimes finding nuggets.
But your statement was 100% right! Like hobbies are meant to be enjoyed. Even work in some ways maybe considered a hobby. Like I know tons of ranchers that basically consider ranching a lifestyle and they barely cover the costs or they actually mortgage land or use debt to stay afloat if they can’t cover their expenses. So technically it’s like ya farming and ranching etc are really like really bad hobbies haha.

Go back with a metal detected and walk the shoulder of the road. It's probably from the material used for the roadbed.Sure you'll find spent brass old aluminum pull tabs, but you never know. A friend found a 8.5 gram nugget on the shoulder of a road in Idaho when he stopped to get rid of some coffee.

@@JeffJulien-j9x I seriously thought about that a friend of my has some metal detectors I live in Oregon now he found that nugget up on Highway 12 up the Northfork Clearwater River by where the Selway and the Locsa run in. I called the state geologist in Lewiston Idaho I was talking to him about it he said that's very odd even though Idaho is known as The Gem State that region has never had any commercial viable deposits of minerals I looked on the map and it's vacant you see a few picks and shovels were there were some claims. I thought my friend was in the woods Hunting Forest gross and he said no I was standing on the side of the road getting ready to go up and Hunt Forest grouse and I was taking a leak and I was looking for my pee was landing and I seen this bright shiny yellow Rock I went down and picked it up and wiped it off cuz I just peed all over it because that what I think it is so I went back to Steve and he said that I wasn't in the woods yet it was right on the shoulder of the road so they hauled it in with the gravel that they used to build Highway 12

I love the traditionalist approach of the old veteran gold hunter. He makes a living off finding gold AND selling equipment to others trying to find gold.
In the California gold rush of the 1850’s most miners went broke, but the MERCHANTS who were selling them their supplies all got filthy rich! LOL 😂

He pulled you a SOLID and showed you a great spot, he likes you guys lol. If you go back to that same location, walk up the big hill right where Rose was looking at all the flowers, face towards the southern side of Yellowstone (keeping it vague, you get the idea), and listen to your friends advise and look for the metamorphic rocks in the valleys you’re facing 😘 if I ever come meet you guys, you can thank me then. Panning or using a sluce are the best bets. The flakes are tiny, but I imagine pull about 2 yards of soil from the right spot and you may just have heart attacks. You’ll wanna go about pretty dang deep, AT LEAST a foot. The rain has packed it in throughout the millennia’s.
“Why would he tell us about a spot so “good””?
Because you girls are awesome, and I’d love to help Jeff guarantee that you’ll never ever have to consider sticking in a relationship because of financial reasons. ✌️ and if you’re wondering how I recognized the spot, it’s the drone shots lol.

I moved to AZ in 1973. I had read a lot of Lost Dutchman. I hiked, but never really considered finding the Old Miners stash. The hiking was great. Then I got into panning. I went to Bumblebee and panned. I found a speck of gold. On the green plastic pan it looked huge. Worth about .25cts. A summer of that was big fun, but I am not capable of shoveling buckets of sand for any length of time. Then I flew to Alaska. I was born there so going to Fairbanks included a trip to Fox. I found gold dust in a mud puddle. The most gold I saw up there was in a bar where a guy was showing off his one ounce he drew out of the missed spot at Fox. It was big fun but I never got enough to buy a newspaper. No, F'in way did any one person find 5 lbs of gold after 1897.

Not to alarm you but, the stinking Yellow Rock that you found in your heavies?
Could very well have been Uranium.
That's heavy too and we have that all over Az.
In fact you'd be amazed how many "Prospectors" throw away valuable minerals not even knowing it.
I've seen people toss out handfuls of garnet calling it trash Stone.
But you also get all the other heavy stuff like Platinum and Uranium.

An easier way to deal with flour gold (tiny specks) is to add some mercury to the mix. Mercury has an affinity for gold and will surround and incase it. The final process is to run the 'amalgum' mixture through a gold retort to recover 100% of each NOW SEPERATED metal.

Awesome way to spend family time, getting rich in the desert...😂😅 Remember, tread lightly, leave no footprints behind. We are the stewards for Mother Nature, whether Canada or US. Love ya'll ❤️

Really? Leave no footprints behind? God created the earth for us to USE. What they are doing is not hurting the earth one bit. Why aren't you going after our filthy government, who are literally killing the whole earth with their evil wheather manipulation, DAILY dumping TONS of toxins..and THEY ARE killing forests, and oceans..and everything ELSE as well! Just look at the devastation of the 'fyres' they are CAUSING and the evil WARZ that are DEVASTATING the whole earth! Not to mention all the sunlight they are STEALING from us! And our traiatorEPA does absolutely NOTHING about THAT, but comes after people just trying to build their HOMES. And God, the Creator is NOT the 'mother' of anything, but our Heavenly FATHER.

Takes a lot of energy to extract the small bits of gold. No wonder it is so expensive. Love the clean mining technique with no mercury that poisons the environment.

I don't like dry shaker/puffer boxes....too much dust...and a poor recovery rate....compared to washing with water... but they can produce gold....

When I was a kid, we moved south of Tucson, and my dad was into prospecting. He found a huge bleep in our front yard, with his detector, and we started digging. It was a HUGE bleep and we were so excited, thinking it was likely and old buggy or something. Well, we dug. And dug. And dug. The hole got six foot deep and the detector was still bleeping over that spot. And we were exhausted, working in that blistering hot Arizona sun. Finally, my dad said we needed to stop. He said that there wasn't anything in that hole at all. It was the BLACK SAND that was setting off the detector. What a disappointment! So remember this can happen, if you try it!
