@billingmetals just to make extraction of the quartz easier, you could always roast it by setting up a larger fire in the trench. Then after a few hours dousing it in cold water to fracture and make the quartz brittle.
@@Robert_Shannon That is really a highly effective way of breaking rock, slow but steady. it's been used for thousands of years too. It makes timbering hard though I'd say ;-) I have the licence to use explosives but need a whole lot of worksafe and mines department approval first.

i found a lovely piece of granite with gold encrusted on it in the perth cbd. honest! about 40 years ago we had a demolition job stripping everything out of a whole floor of mineral house where the wa department of minerals was based. there were some boxes of rock samples. they went to my place. most of the samples were of the sorts of rock used for gravestones. but there were some other interesting rocks including the piece with gold on it.
Hi, just found your channel, so will be binge watching fora while. Just a suggestion for when you are chipping out a target like at the beginning of this video. I always have a half worn out painters brush that I use to clean off the seam as I chip at it, to help find the target as soon as it is exposed. Great work and video
Hi mate. Good video, just one piece of advice if you’re not already doing it. SD 2300 will not pick up that fine Gold. I’d crush all what you’re taking out of that nice little reef. Surprising what you can’t see. Lived in my youth use crowbar. Watching you gives me callous,s on my hands . Go for it. Good job.😮

I've got about three tons of lower grade stacked but I'll be doing a video on the crushing and processing at some point, I need to make a proper shaker table too. It's hard work, better than the gym for making rock hard arms though!

@ I live in a village called Thaxted,it’s a very old settlement,couple of years ago a very nice Roman gold ring was dug up on farmland on the outskirts of the village,there will be stuff from the Bronze Age up but most of it will be under the village! Got a few mates that detect over here,they’ve had some fantastic finds over the years but if you think you did a lot of rubbish over there,I’m told the trash finding is epic here 😆 Just watched one your paddock eluvial vids,bloody interesting mate! 👍

I hope you wash all the dirt you remove from that reef. If you are you should show a video of how you go about it and how you go doing so... get find mate. Have you got a Equinox 800 by any chance? Yes it will all go though an impact crusher and get processed for the fines, I'll do a video on the process at some point ;-) I use a GPX4000 and a SDC2300, they do the trick too and if it's too hard to pinpoint it gets crushed and gold recovered anyhow. @@klaasic_e8650 If it's fairly shallow cover work out where the reef runs by looking at the old workings then dig a cross cutting trench to bedrock til you hit the reef or reefs and sample from there. Same for detected patches. It's very effective. Don't forget to tell us all about any finds ;-)
Hey Toby, I saw some Vivianite you were selling on Facebook. I have been to Anglesea at least 5 times in search and have never found any. Did you find yours at low tide past the collapsed cliff section by point Addis? It seems every man and his dog has some vivianite, so I must be doing something wrong. Thanks!
Hi, it is hard to find outside the mining claim a greedy sod put over what was a popular collecting area. It has to be ultra low tide and you can find it either side of the area under claim sometimes. look it up on geovic to see claim boundary's. Good luck, sometimes you'll get pocketful's, sometimes not a piece.

An air hammer and a pinpointer might be useful tools for you.
