- This is a complete guide for unlocking the Maister Skills for Sorcerer and Mage. You'll earn the Meteroron spell, the Celestian Paean spell, and the Maelstrom spell. These rewards come from the Spellbound quest and the Sorcerer's Appraisal quest, which require you to collect 5 Grimoire Books from around the game.

Apologies for getting the thing wrong about how to start Myrddin’s quest. The easiest way to trigger it to start is by wearing the Courtly Attire. I had no idea that’s what it was! Shoutout to all of the great tips and good info in the comments. ❤

Just copying my comment to other guides, there are more books than what is on all the guides that I’ve seen. Here’s how you can get them:
I spent a lot of time using pilfer/plunder thieving skill on every NPC I could find (I probably missed some).
- the guy that gives you towering earth has howling blizzard as well if you steal from him.
- there is a beastren female trader that wonders through Bakbattahl, I think she sells books (I want to say her name starts with E but I can’t remember). She has a copy of towering earth that can be stolen.
- 3rd one I can’t remember who but I believe it was 1 of the two traders that frequents Harve Village. I believe they are both female from memory if that helps but since they move about you might catch them somewhere else.
People I couldn’t find / wasn’t overly bothered to find if they weren’t around but I suspect could have additional copies:
*Phaesus (I’d presume the best time to steal would be during the masquerade)
*The guy who sells you Fulminous Shield
*Various other roaming trading vendors (I found a few and as you can see above 2 of them carry grimoires).
Additionally I have a theory that if no other NPC has books you can steal, maybe the mage type wight bosses you find in tombs and the one near Checkpoint Rest Inn might (they drop to the floor during the fight at which point you can use plunder).
I probably wont be going to verify the remaining copies but hope this helps anyone looking for more copies. 🙂

Can you please help me I’ve done everything to do in the video? I even escorted both the little girl and the old lady, but for some reason it won’t give me the magic mastery scroll thing why is that?
I gave her the original fluminous shield not realising I might need it for later. I found another just exploring vermund area. I have 2 copies of orginal tomes of howling blizzard, nations death knell and fulminous shield in my chest. I’m not sure if it’s because they were in my chest and the game deemed I didn’t have them or there is multiple copies.
The Turquoise Ring helps with Myrdinns quest. I didn't have the Coutrly Tunic, and so wasn't able to give him the books first because he wouldn't open the door for me. So I did Trysha's SpellBound quest first. After I got the Courtly Tunic, I went to Myrdinns to give him the spells, but after some dialogue, he found out I helped Trysha learn magic and he got upset because he's her father. He refused to teach me the meister spell for sorcerer, but a second quest option appeared telling me to find a way to make up with Myrdinn. I rested for a day, got the Turquoise Ring and went to talk to Myrdinn. He sees I have the ring in my inventory (not equipped) and asks me to give him time to think about the situation. After resting another day, I went back and he gave me the meister spell and the other quest rewards. Hope this helps!

Confirmed.....you do NOT need all 5 to still do this. If you gave the first tome to the guy don't fret! Just follow this guide and only do the 4 and it all works out! So glad lol!!!

If you're having a hard time getting the quest from myrddin, wear the courtly attire. One of the npcs mentions he only speaks to those who have a noble appearance.

I triggered it the first time in courtly attire, found the quest by accident but only had 2 books, found this video and discovered I needed the books for the other quest, reloaded the save and couldn’t get back in to his house. Dismissed all my pawns and he finally came out, looked me up and down and said “this is a place of magic blah blah blah” slammed the door in my face. Came back as a sorcerer in robes he came out said I was dressed like a bum, CAME BACK AGAIN as a sorcerer in courtly attire and he FINALLY let me in.
@@joereilly8890 I got told I looked like a bum, put on my courtly attire, but he wouldn't react and the door was locked shut. So I broke in through the second story window, climb downstairs, when he tornadoes me. I ate through the damage, and when it was over, he then happily greeted me and gave me the quest. I was so confused.

One tip for making the forgeries
Since you need 2 fruminous shileds
Make a forgery of the first fruminous shield( forgey of a forgery) and you’ll save about 5,400
You can also just go to the waterfall cave and get both Nation's Death knell and Howling Blizzard in a chest on the 2nd floor instead of doing that copy. (Note that a lich spawns upon opening chest) Lich is weak to magic by the way.
@@Jo051051don’t believe they are weak to magic, to me seems they are only weak to holy and physical attacks, killed quite a few farming black crystals, archer with explosive arrows knocked them to the ground pretty fast, killed some while playing magic archer and sorcerer and they went way slower. Don’t know what resistance stats are on them in this game but spamming ricochet in a closed area didnt do much damage.
Another Tip- a lot of players are only getting one scroll after the quest is complete- they are missing the Enchanters Almanac (Celestial Paean)- as in the video, do the escort missions for both women. HOWEVER, that’s not enough to get it. It’s Eino that’s the issue, the man. After doing both I had to give him 4x flowers and that finally allowed the old lady to give me the second scroll.
Another tip- you can forge Elite camping kits at checkpoint also- they aren’t fake, you can actually use them. It cost 3500 and imo it’s worth it bc they only weight like 3lbs 🙏🏽
Why do I need 2 of the fake Fruminous when i only need 1 fake and 1 real to complete these quests?
@@ihaneyin checkpoint town for the elite camp you can get it from the employee of the merchant who owns the jadeite stone (can buy it from the scrap merchant straight up) if you make a counterfeit of it give it to the merchant who wants to pawn it and the original to the owner youll get the elite tent from the merchant who wanted to pawn it as well as the reward for the owners quest

This right here. This is why I came here. I was wondering why Eini wasn't giving me her tome and I thought my game was broken. (It wouldn't be the first time. My first 128 hour playthrough was ruined by an unresurrectable main quest NPC.)

you can also use soporific arrow from magick archer to put trysha to sleep rather than wait for her to get exhausted, (two to three arrows) im sure other forms of sleep application works too im just not sure what other ones exist in the game
side note the reason Eini died is likely because she was attacked by a cyclops where she stands up by the statue on the cliffs edge. my portcrystal was there and when i teleported in she was getting smacked on by one

Nations Death Knell book can also be obtained by beating a sorcerer in a waterfall cave right next to Ultramarine Waterfall which is North East of the Borderwatch Outpost.

Only to later go to the cave I've mentioned to beat a beast to get some upgrade materials then in that same cave a dark sorcerer attacked me and to my shock after beating it I got that Death knoll book again!

Got the book from the Magistrate, had to go start the little girl’s quest. After speaking with her, got the quest, went back to the library under the slums, and he handed it right over. Remember to make forgeries of EACH book before turning them in to the girl!

Howling Blzzard and Nation's Death Knell can also be found in the Waterfall Cave in Northern Vermund. Since there are 2 Nation's Death Knell maybe there are 2 copies of each of them.
This is such a fucking relief. I used one of the 2 tomes found in the Waterfall Cave, and seeing there's a second way to get Howling Blizzard is great. Haha.
Yeah I didn't know about the meteoron quest and gave three time to Myyridon. So unless there are two copies of each book it doesn't look like I'll be able to get meteoron and the mage ultimate
Howling Blizzard is in Nameless village, but you will need to forge Fulminous Shield to trade for it.

yeah, this is huge ... there is another quest that requires there to be a tome to "unlock" the castle or dispel it. You get a decent mystic spear too.. my dumb ass grabed that on my first run, panicked when a dragon attack the town. lol.
Thank god there was one at the waterfall cave, though ... I didn't know about the other meister skills so, yup ... newgame+

Thanks for the detailed guide. I believe there are multiple ways to get some of the books because I completed the quest(not both, but I did get five books), and I had never been to the nameless town in the east.
Do not pick up the death knell from the battle ground till you complete the quest there as the npc needs it before ringing a bell. also just hug the wall no need to go anywhere near the dragon.
There’s 2 copies of death knell and I thought I was screwed when it happened to me with the first copy, but if you give the book to the NPC he just completes the quest and places the book back which can be picked up again
I think i found those books in cave where you first crash land. Had to fight two bosses. A Chimera and an undead sorcerer. Gonna have to double check though. Thankfully i didn't sell them 😅

Northeast (↗️) of Borderwatch Outpost there is a cave called Waterfall Cave. It’s huge. Inside you can find in the same chest a copy of Nation’s Death Knell and Howling Blizzard.

The girl died for me for some reason. Then I used a wakestone on her AND completed the quest as normal. Now on a escort Mission with the grandmother. Hope she doesn't get to Randy with me😂

It’s interesting how npcs die without you knowing about it. I recently went to the morgue area in Battahl and noticed the blacksmith apprentice lady that helps with the blade quest died at some point. No clue how but I brought her back with a wake stone and now she’s obsessed with my character and will follower her around like a puppy dog every time I go the the city lol.
It got me curious so I went one in Vermund and apparently Sven died at some point as well? Brought him back too but it’s neat that he could die as well.

erm thought i would mention it, there is a dungeon waterfall cave, on the way to Verworth. On the last floor(think it was third one) there is a chamber lit in eerie blue light, and in the center there is a chest. You can open it and it will spawn a Lich. From that chest i got 2 books: Howling Blizzard and Nation's death knell

For anybody who delivers the 5 grimoires to Trysha and cant seem to trigger the next event with the scream and battle where you have to tackle her. I remembered that earlier on you have to wait until her grandparents are out during the day to speak with her alone. So I decided to rest at camp until night when they would be back to trigger the next sequence. I thought at first one of them were dead and it wouldnt proceed but just waiting until night helped the quest progress
wish I had seen this 10 mintues ago before giving all the grimores to the daughter.

There are two copies of all 5 the grimores
This was a great guide but I am overwhelmed and stressed before I even started
You can also get a second copy of Howling Blizzard and the Death knell grimoir from the cave at the beginning of the game where the Griffin crashed while you and the pawn Rook were riding on it.
There is a more powerful Chimera in that cave, but you can ignore it completely.
You will have to fight a lich boss after opening a chest.
The Howling Blizard grimoir is right next to the chest that holds the Death Knell grimoir.

@@ruby773 I went exploring just to find out which he meant brother! If you’re still looking it’s the water fall cave. It’s a very massive cave that has a chimera and a lich. From the border watch outpost just go up and stay on the path till you hit a cave! It has both copies at once!

Dude thanks so much for this. I couldn’t make it to where she started using magic uncontrollably. I rested a bunch , then fast travelled and ran back. Went back and forth between locations. In the end it was because grandma had died. I wonder if she dies as a part of this quest. Either way this was huge help!

FYI. I did not get the Towering Earth from Waldhar in the first or second quest. But once I picked up both the Spellbound and The Sorcerer's Appraisal, I thought I might have accidently sold the book. So I went back to Waldhar anyway to check and he started the dialog regarding the Towering Earth book and gave it to me because he already read it
9:17 The reason why Eini died is because she fought a Cyclops on her own and he killed her, you can see that if you follow up the stairs next to their house, i don't know if you can save her or not, but i found her dead there and the Cyclops was sleeping.

If you are short on affinity with anyone, after doing their quest, just gift them an item of their liking. You can check what people like in the NPC log listing. I gave Lanart a gem/ore, some time after doing the mission, and he gave me the skill. Same thing with Elf King dude, gave him a Dragon Scale when i came back to him long after doing the missions, still worked. I assume the same works for all affinity related items.
I suggest completing the quest "Tolled to rest" first. Just a bit further up from where the drake and cyclops is fighting, you will find a guy who wants to be escorted to the exact place the Nation's Death Knell is, he will need the book to ring the bell, once you complete his quest you can pick the book up, and he'll give you a key for a near by treasure room.

LISTEN: If Trysha dies, you can still get the scrolls by being in the Courtly tunic and breeches and giving both grandparents flowers over a period of time. I just did it and got both scrolls.

Man I really wish I would of read this sooner before starting new game just to get those 2 spells. Dam! Well I'm already almost caught back up I just need howling blizzard now and I will be able to give trysha all the tomes once again lol
I think the issue happens with her grandfather as well since I've waited more than a week and she's not ready yet. However I've not seen her grandfather for a long while now.
I've yet to check the morgue, but I supesct that's the issue.
Firstly, only 3 out of 5 books are required. Secondly, I made the mistake of not making any copies ... I still managed to find and hand in some of the books in duplicate and therefore received both spells.
to make sure for the books before you deliver them go to your storage and deposit the genuine ones and leave only the 5 fakes with you
there is also a second death knell and blizzard in the waterfall caverns, so i am guessing their are other locations for the quest items as well to give both character authentic versions of the books.
If the old man is not giving you the spell scroll, just rest on a bench, come back to him with Courtly clothes and give him a roses flower, I did this and it did trigger the scroll reward. Good luck
Btw, I just found the books "Nation's Death Knell" and "Howling Blizzard" inside a cave called "Waterfall Cave". There were inside a chest on the second floor (2F). Just in case someone lost them or something before finishing this quest

In case of anyone didn’t get the rewards as it happened to me because she died. Get maximum affinity with both old twins. Both will reward you with spell and specialization: Aphonite -> Forces the pawn to stop talking (in most circumstances)

You can aquire two of the grimoires 'nations death knell & howling blizzard' from the same chest where you kill the Wight in 'waterfall cave' northeast of Melve. Should make it easier for those aquiring them.

Another thing I hadn’t realised is that you just trigger the quest to get the book from the old man in the jail, I hadn’t began the quest and thought I could get it beforehand but you need to start the quest in order to trigger it
Hey i did the quest and after it i found in the waterfallcave, near the Checkpoint at the start of the game, the Bell and the Storm book. They are on the topfloor of the cave in a chest. Hope it helps 😊

u can find “howling blizzard” and “nation’s death knell” in a waterfall cave. that cave located where u first start the game after falling of the griffin. but be aware u will have to kill the lich or what is the name of that flying skeleton mage
Yeah I found these before doing all of this quest and stashed them away because they were valuables.
Man lucky i was an archer and had explosive arrows. Made the lich fight so much easier.
You only need to give them 3 books to get the maester spells. Which is why they ask if you are going to give them more books. There are also 2 copies of death knoll. So you dont need to make copies and you can get both all the spells in one playthrough but only if you deliver 3 books to the 2 different npcs.
If anyone else is like me that like to complete every possible quest. Make 3 copies of Nation's Death Knell. Cuz another quest gonna requires it.
I had like multiple of these books by the time I started this quest so it seems some of them (like nation, and howling blizzard)
i found a second Nation's Death Knell in the cave just north of Eini's house. a litch was guarding it. there must be 2 copies of each book out there
If Myrddin won’t talk to you then put on the courtly outfit and it will pique his interest. Also if there’s grimoires you sold or lost you can buy them back from Ibrahim’s scrap shop. It’s random which items he sells but I was able to reacquire the Death Knell grimoire

Update: You have to activate the Spellbound quest first to trigger his dialogue
Theres a cave that has both the nation death knoll and the ice TOME.
There is a later quest that you need that tome IN THE CASTLE, don't take it.
I can't remember the cave but there IS a cave that has a chest with TWO of the tomes you need... a decently strong necro asshole will spawn so have a good theif with helm splitter or archer, sorcerer works too.

Guys, i only gave him 3 books and he completed the quest.. i spoke to him again and pressed (Y to give gift) gave him flowers and he gives the maelstorm scroll!

I think my pawn may have used the spellbooks... Could've sworn I already had half of these while looking for Nation's Death Knell, but none of them are in my inventory or storage. I definitely remember handing them to my pawn though to free up space.
I delivered 4 books, and I still got both spells. I might try with three books. My understanding is that the spells are tied to affection, so maybe delivering 3 books then giving gifts will fix this.
I only delivered 3 (albeit original) books to Myrddin and got his Spell and but did 4 for Trysha so can't confirm that side of things
@@blockington99 I can. I gave 3 original books to Myrddin and the girl and got both the mage and sorcerer spells. Kind of curious if it works with 2 books, because the girl specifies "two or three", but that's ng+ territory.
I hear you are able to just turn in 3 books out of the 5? Is there a difference between only giving 3?
Just a heads up, I gave the light tome to the wizard guy without making a copy, but did the rest the way the this guide tells us and still got the full reward.
FYI either of these guys only need 3 books to complete the quest. So dont worry about fulminous shield if you already handed it in for howling storm. Just forge the rest that you have and do it like in the video. And as mentioned in the comments if they dont give you the scroll after the quest, give them flowers or wear the ring that raises affinity.
I waited 15 days, grandma died for me too. Then the girl died during the quest. So these spells and specialization cost 5k and 2 wake stones. Not to mention my traveling expenses lol.
My tomes was used at the begining when i was in waterfall cave open chest and get magic book,and the boss appear,,i I’m immediately used the tomes,,if that the case do i must play ng+ to get this quest complete?

this game don't stop amazing me I just give a bunch of flawer to Ulrika in front of Lennart after I give him the latter from the quest Oxcart courier he approach to me and give me the skill (Riotous Fury) I guess has to do with both happiness for example his quest done correctly throwing the exlosive casks and thenpoison in to the nest(NESTING TROUBLES)
I wish i had known about the forging things before i got rid of stuff. I feel like i might as well start over. This game is fun but certain things are very frustrating.

This quest has been a total nightmare. Got into his house randomly before knowing about either of these quests, he asked for the books I happen to have 2, delivered them and then went to look up where to find the remaining ones, found this video and reloaded the save. Broke into his house first after reloaded, stole 1 book, then went on a wild goose chase to get that old man out of jail and too the library. He didn’t give me the book in his cell so I had to go get his glasses, STILL wouldn’t give me the book went back to try and get into the bald guys house again but couldn’t get him to come out. Dismissed all my companions, he finally comes out. Tells me this is a place of magic and goes back inside (I was wearing courtly attire) come back as a sorcerer in robes, he comes out, tells me I’m dressed like a bum, slams the door in my face. Come back as a sorcerer in courtly attire he FINALLY lets me in. Go BACK to the old man at the library he finally gives me the last book I need. Forge all 5 books and deliver all the forged copies to that bald headed prick, he gives me the robes and only 1 spell. So I immediately gift him like 6 bouquets of flowers and he asks me to do the escort quest. I throw him over my shoulder and port to the city, finish the quest and I get an achievement for reaching max affinity with a NPC but he doesn’t give me the second spell only a bunch of gold and a bouquet of flowers. No idea what I’m supposed to do now to get that second one, guess I’m gonna just keep resting at the inn and checking in on him to see if I get it.
EDIT: okay I was confused, the second sorcerer spell comes from the quest with Trisha, I was so bent out of shape from all the back and forth I missed that part of the video. This video was very helpful in of itself but I hope my comment clears some stuff up for anyone having the same problems.
Do you have to do Myrddin last? I'm currently trying to get the quest to proc for Tyrisha. Both her grandparents are alive, I have all the real copies of the book. Her quest just won't proc. Anyone have any idea why? The grams left the house, I carried the grandfather out just in case (of course he just walks back) but yeah I'm lost.
Instead of carrying the grandparents,just carry the girl outside where she'll be alone.
You just need three items for all of them, when they ask you to continue the search "no" works aswell :)
After giving him the 5 fakes I got the robe and gold .. but not the myrdins chronicle :( did you have to be a sorcerer to receive it?? I have the others in my storage from the elf quest lines .. now im worried about finishing the one for the mage because its mainly just for my pawn . .
I think I realized what I did, I just ran up stairs and grabbed the books and he was yelling at me, I think my affinity is too low now? D: wonder if i can raise it at all ..
The quest system on this game is completely chaos, no guides, i wonder how do you guys find this out thank you
I have 2 nations death neals and I gave one of the real ones to myriddin and when I gave the rest of the fake ones to him I didn’t get the skill so I’m not sure what’s wrong is it because I haven’t leveled up the sorcerer vocation yet?

To increase the infinity give them gifts if you give them gifts that instantly raises their affinity
