The problem is that you have to shoot her in the body. The vase gives you the hint that her head and shoulders cannot be harmed, and you have to attack her lower half. I believe if you hit her anywhere in the head region, you fail and she leaves. This is how you beat her normally, you can just fight her and make sure to not hit her in the head or shoulder area. I've seen some people say their pawns have ruined this for them, but others have done it with pawns. So I suspect the people who failed probably just accidentally hit her face.

Good guide, thank you. A solution for those who want to enjoy that stunning flight with Sphinx but dont want to leave behind an unlooted chest. You do need 2 Portcrystals for this. This is how I did it: before handing in the finder token make sure you still have a Portcrystal set in Mountain Shrine and one in inventory. Answer the riddle, grap the Sphinx, enjoy the flight, land at Frontier Shrine, set down second Portcrystal. Port back to Mountain Shrine, pick up the Portcrystal, grab the last chest (3 ferrystones), port back to Frontier Shrine. You spend 2 ferrystones but IMHO the flight is well worth it. PS. If you do decide to take Air Sphinx then remember to grab/cling to Sphinx when she enters the cave system before Frontier Shrine. The ascent at the end of the cave will slide you off unless you are holding on. You can just stand on her back during majority of the flight.
For the seeker token portion, I recommend using the interactive map too. Super helpful. I remembered where I found my first one, but needed it for the exact location.
After the dialogue says that the Sphinx will fly away - start shooting it with normal arrows until another cutscene triggers. Then shoot Sphinx in the *ss with that special arrow AFTER the fight starts and the Sphinx starts jumping around. No need to rush.

Definitely another option it's just not a guarantee as she can fly off if you don't kill her fast enough for some reason. This is a guaranteed kill every time and there aren't enough uses for the arrow anyways so it's worth using I'd say
Two things to note: NG+ she turns your Portcrystal into a "Partcrystal". A forgery. You will end up with a net loss of one Portcrystal. Secondly, I had her flap her wings during the answering of the Riddle of Recollection, knocking two statues a ways behind me and a ways off the platform. I've had them fall off the front of the platform and it's not a big deal. This was different. Nothing I could do. Wrong answer, game over for the Sphinx. Just thought I'd share.

I tried doing this whole riddle thing and failed it at some point on my previous playthrough. I'll try it again using this guide. It's also strange, but the I found the Sphinx hot, but in a scary way.
Literally though when she flies off, you should have the old portcrystal still placed, jump on her, place another crystal in new location and just teleport back the old spot for the loot and now, from there you're free to go wherever. I always go into the Misty Marshes, if i'm near there, once in tired I teleport out. Wish they had made the place bigger
so question regarding the finder's token, can we make forgeries of it or give it to her so she duplicates it in her other riddle? and if we do would these "fake" tokens carry over into NG+?
@@gamersinger5118 yes i got to try It, they can be forged as much as you like, HOWEVER they won't carry over to NG+ so their only use Is towards other players, which Is nice enough

Such a challenging quest with so much bullshit. Impossible to complete [for me] without a guide video, a mod from Nexus *), and instructions how to kill her from behind. I tried a few times and she just flew away if me or pawns came near the front to do damage. I did manage though, without using the Unmaking Arrow. This is the best video available to clear this hurdle - super thanks! *) for Steam via REFramework there is a brilliant mod that shows the location of the Finder's Token. For me this turned out essential since my first Seeker's Token was way outside anywhere I thought it was, near the Nameless Village. [btw, I also forged the Finder's Token, just in case, for NG+]
I'd be hesitant to recommend using that unmaking arrow on the Sphinx if you are hunting for trophies/achievements. It is by far the most useful, perhaps even mandatory, tool at your disposal for killing the Gigantus quickly enough for the corresponding trophy/achievement (EDIT: Nevermind, see replies!)
You can actually buy another one from the dragonforged for 8 WLC so you'll have a backup if needed! The eternal wakestone is also needed for multirevive and I'd argue is 100% worth giving up an arrow for to get in your first playthrough since it can be duped from there on out
Worst case you could make your most recent in rest set to the beginning of the 7 day time and if you can't find it in time then reload from your in rest again to keep looking. Otherwise take the L in that playthrough, go into NG+ and the first token you find in that playthrough will be the location where your finder token ends up being.
@@Nuchraptor yeah you'll be fine for the other riddles you just won't get the achievement for doing all 10 in a single playthrough is all. You can definitely do it in a ng+ run though if it's something you want

Edit: Nevermind I found the location very easily, I just looked at a map where all the seeker's token are located across melve and border outpost and it's the same as in this video on a harpy's nest..
“People rush to be first rather than correct” that’s exactly why I stopped using ESO or FightingCowboy. They are useful at times but too rushed when the games are new.
I dislike how the start of the video immediately puts down other people’s tutorials. Yea, the game is literally new. Of course a lot of guides aren’t complete or perfect. But your video is built on those videos.
@geminisundone Watching you comment is actually embarrassing. They're right. Read what you wrote, then go back to school and ask your elementary school English teacher what you're doing wrong. They'll tell you.
alexgater780 Also you can duplicate the finders stone from what I have heard. Make a forgery of it and it copies the stone which should be usable for the riddle on any playthrough
@@gamersinger5118 also, you can send the finder token as a goodbye gift to a pawn. those also count for the riddle. i got lucky someone sent me one and i could forge it. that worked for the riddle
This is the best guide. Thank you! 21:03 For killing the sphinx though: 1. Complete the last quest dialogue, she says good bye and tries to fly away. 2. Rush to the chest and take the Unmaking Arrow. 3. Shoot her many times with *skills / normal arrows* , before she could leave! 4. After scolding you she lands and starts to fight back, *beat her in fair combat* , the arrow can't 1shot her now! 5. When most of her HP is gone she pauses the combat for another short monologue then tries to flee! 6. Quickly equip the arrow and shoot her before she could fly away from the arena! Otherwise she may fall down onto an unreachable cliff side and drop the key + gold there.
I'm hearing from a few people that their unmaking arrow is not killing the Sphinx for some reason which is a huge bummer. I missed the shot… Twice 😅 but managed to kill her by just hitting the torso.
Thank you.
Just do the Eyes riddle 5th, and get on her back. Who cares about 1 wake stone?
Literally though when she flies off, you should have the old portcrystal still placed, jump on her, place another crystal in new location and just teleport back the old spot for the loot and now, from there you're free to go wherever.
I always go into the Misty Marshes, if i'm near there, once in tired I teleport out.
Wish they had made the place bigger
that might be the same token i got first, but i dont remember the location
so question regarding the finder's token, can we make forgeries of it or give it to her so she duplicates it in her other riddle? and if we do would these "fake" tokens carry over into NG+?
alanmartinez2122
It seems the finders token can be duplicated successfully. I have heard this multiple times
@@gamersinger5118 yes i got to try It, they can be forged as much as you like, HOWEVER they won't carry over to NG+ so their only use Is towards other players, which Is nice enough
Didn't work for me, that's the quest I failed... annoyingly, I found my first one much later on, during one of the other sphinx riddles 😑
Have u tried a fake finders token?
Thank you
Does the rumination timer start on a new game or on the first introduction with the sphinx?
Starts as soon as you get the clue for that particular riddle, so you can avoid taking it if you're not ready to go on the hunt yet for the token
@unclemumble Thank you, TH-cam man 👍👍
7 days to do that is impossible, i was like 65 hrs in when i got the sphinx quest, dont even have a clue where my first token was but i kno there were not on the first 16 of most guide. beside ever since i got that quest i could never get a ride without being ambushed and having the cart completely destroyed like 8 outta 8 times...😅 thanks anyway not spending another second on that (been 7 to 10 hrs already...)
the whimsikal daydream gave me 50.000 gold one time lol
Bruh how are you switching between 2 vocations flawlessly
I use less weapons while I have warfarer running so that I'm not swapping through 8 weapons to get to what I want
The eternal wakestone is also needed for multirevive and I'd argue is 100% worth giving up an arrow for to get in your first playthrough since it can be duped from there on out
@@unclemumble I had no idea! Thank you, that is useful information indeed!
I have no eternal wake stone
Tricker unlocks Detection at 2 not 4
wow, this guide
A good tip for the "how many riddles" question is to just open your Quest List, it will show all the ones you've answered, so you can just count them.
what if i cant find the finders token?
Worst case you could make your most recent in rest set to the beginning of the 7 day time and if you can't find it in time then reload from your in rest again to keep looking. Otherwise take the L in that playthrough, go into NG+ and the first token you find in that playthrough will be the location where your finder token ends up being.
@@unclemumble so 7 days was up i went to her she said this lesson failed then flew off to 2nd spot so, i dont think it killed the questline
@@Nuchraptor yeah you'll be fine for the other riddles you just won't get the achievement for doing all 10 in a single playthrough is all. You can definitely do it in a ng+ run though if it's something you want
Cannot believe what happened 😂😂 I made it to the last riddle in the fight And I shoot That special arrow But she instantly turned purple and varnished to different position.
And my arrow goes throw it not even hitting it 😂😂 such a big noob i am hhhh unbelievable
No fucking way I'll find my finders token, I've explored the whole of the map already before I even got to the sphinx, so I won't be able to remember which area is the actual first seekers token I found, I can't be bothered with this time consuming riddle quest..
It's Simon says…!
I dislike how the start of the video immediately puts down other people’s tutorials.
Yea, the game is literally new. Of course a lot of guides aren’t complete or perfect. But your video is built on those videos.
How did you change classes instantly??
Was just using warfarer and had a bow!
Can’t find the other person
Find him in the inn
Bruh all this just gave me a headache
Super comprehensive guide tho
It's just im not looking forward for none of this lol
This made me not want anything to do with the sphinx, why is there so much to do, why can’t they just be normal fucking riddles
Ffs was expecting a legendary weapon in final chest 🫤🫤🫤
And do you not understand that people look this up because they’re already at the sphinx
Dude has pre-requisites and a tutorial on how to get there
I wasn’t…don’t assume lol
You moved to fast bro not gone lie
😂The tutorial for the last chest is so bad i'm not watching the rest
Oh yes aim for the head.... rip
Not worth the time. Your better off finishing game without the hassle
Ive seen another video cover this far economicly.
This guy is clearly on the spectrum with his unnecessary waffling.
You failed to make an English sentence while shaming someone, crazy.
@@pf42bc Re-read what you've just scribbled....then go back to school.
Embarrassing.
@geminisundone Watching you comment is actually embarrassing. They're right. Read what you wrote, then go back to school and ask your elementary school English teacher what you're doing wrong. They'll tell you.
You like to eat glue, don’t you?
Rumination was easy for me be ause it was near the beginner area, was the one past the cyclops near the knight statue
For those who might be wondering; if you’re in an ng+ play through, the first token you found in your new game will count. Just tested it.
I was about to ask this. Thank you for sharing and saving me time!
Thank goodness!
alexgater780
Also you can duplicate the finders stone from what I have heard.
What if I already have all the tokend?
This is absolutely amazing, definitely the best guide on this subject hands down. Good job and I appreciate all the effort you put into it!
Keep in mind for the first token riddle, it’s the first coin you find per new game cycle, not your very first coin (if in new game plus)❤
I can Confirm this just got it
@@diandrea4 Thanks
Ur literally my favorite person for this whole month because I thought I was cooked. thank u ❤
