Can't believe they had a chance to adapt kyle in the newest animated universe, but chose john again and again. So now john has kyle's origin story in the animated movie, and kyle is still again nowhere to be found
I love Kyle in Green Lantern Rebirth. It was my first introduction into GL and Kyle seemed to always go above and beyond in any situation. A DC animated movie centered around Kyle would be what I would want
I grew up reading comics im the 90s and Kyle was my first main green lantern as well. I agree with everything you said, I think Kyle is very underrated but he has a heroes heart and is always happy to help. Love the video. Liked and subscribed!
Dude i recently picked up Ron Marz' run of Kyle so this makes me pretty excited for what lies ahead. Kyle sounds like he'd be the most inspiring of the human GLs, not to mention seeing him interact with more veteran heroes seems like it'd be pretty awesome in its own right.
Can read some in the circle of fire deluxe that came out a bit ago. It's Brian k Vaughn run and the first arc for Winnick. But there's more after that I'd for sure suggest!
There's just something awesome about legacy characters! Some of them, Kyle included, are more deep and compelling than the standard ones. Others for me are Wally, Dick, Miles, Laura, Flash Thompson... I just wish the big 2 wouldn't ditch them every few years for the old ones.
You sold me on him. What should I purchase to start reading him? I see there’s two Kyle Rayner trade paperbacks (vol. 1 and 2) by Marz. Should I start there?
Yes! Great starting point. Especially if fan of older spidy tales, similar vibes. I also really enjoyed Winnick run which can get circle of fire tpb too. If want later stuff green lantern Corps by tomasi!
They basically gave Kyle the Wally West treatment at this point, like the writers went through so much trouble to develop wally into flash and Make Kyle Green Lantern just to forget about them and barely give them story arcs when the original returns, Like Kyle was the 1st green lantern to be immune to the yellow color weakness, he never gets recognition for it, even when barry comes back to life they literally gave him Wally's personality, My point is I love Hal and Barry but it would've been better if they stayed dead.
Hal is a legend but Kyle has always been a more interesting character in personality and storylines he was involved, to me. Same with Wally West. DC used to do character swaps the right way, unlike current DC/Marvel when they try that angle nowadays.
Guy Gardner written by JM DeMatteis wins it for me 🙂 this is a fun channel, I really like it 👍 you should do some live streams so we can all hang out 😎
Thank you for shining the spotlight on Kyle. As much as I like Geoff's work, I did not like his decision to bring back Hal. All he did was push Kyle to the sidelines. I wish DC comics would treat their legacy characters with more respect but no! They rather mistreat them and push them to the side in favour of their silver age predecessors. It is like wwe booking old wrestlers like Goldberg to win their tip belts instead of a young new wrestler. So much story potential and DC continue to squander it.
Hal Jordan is the best GL. The only reason people think Kyle is great is because all the awesome Parallax Hal Jordan stuff in it. Kyle had mostly forgetable villians . Hals sporadic appearances in GL saved and prolonged the legacy of Kyle Rayner
its really sad how Kyle is now really just tossed aside.. he's currently MIA, in a coma too as we see him in a couple panels in the newest run. While the other lanterns evolve, especially john, kyle and guy is just MIA and it sucks mann
I feel like Robert Vendetti executed a character assassination on Kyle in the 'Zods Will' story arc. Kyle is being written as a sissy sub par Green Lantern.
My two biggest issues with your opinion is Hal is the least interesting of the green lanterns where as I have him second, of the what like 7 human lanterns now? I believe could be wrong but I don’t think Hal is boring green lantern rebirth is one of my favorite stories, personally I think Guy Gardner is the least interesting I understand his character but I just don’t like him compared to Kyle,Hal,John,Allan(different version of a green lantern I know),Simon and Jessica the other part was I think Kyle’s original suit is one of the worst green lantern suits created the white chest is off too much for me, his early 2000s version of his suit is amazing I love it, the only other green lantern suit I think I dislike more is Simon’s
The fact that your response to the fridging of Alex is "well, I don't think it's bad, because KYLE (...)" kinda of already proves what's wrong with this trope, and makes your attempts at defending it ineffective.
@@julio.dealmeidabranconeto5831 I wasn't defending the point and if anyone thinks it's a deal breaker can have that view. I was saying for me it wasn't that bad and felt like she was a fully utilized character who's fate was to be murdered. But I understand if someone doesn't like that or find it a trope.
I didn't get the impression of "because Kyle" at all. There are plenty of instances where the death of a supporting character works. Spider-man. Uncle Ben's death is his driving force. Batman's parents. Gwen Stacy. These are all iconic moments and no one complains. So why was this one so egregious? It wasn't. Plain and simple. It demonstrated what most heroes inherently understood regarding protecting their identity to protect their loved ones. But Kyle wasn't a "hero" initially, he was playing hero. He was lax and didn't take it completely serious. Having fun with it. Probably one of the most natural responses to being young and given powers out of nowhere in comics up until then. No military, law enforcement, etc background that would have taught him what it meant to be on the frontline. Just a kid who liked to draw. It was a recipe for disaster to eventually happen.
Kyle was literally my introduction to the green lantern character and because of him I now love the character and the rest of the green lantern mythos
Same!
Kyle rayner is so underrated
Can't believe they had a chance to adapt kyle in the newest animated universe, but chose john again and again. So now john has kyle's origin story in the animated movie, and kyle is still again nowhere to be found
That makes me sad. Wish we'd get some Kyle love in the shows or movies.
Kyle and John both deserve better.
It’s because he’s black and they always want to push black people in media
I love Kyle in Green Lantern Rebirth. It was my first introduction into GL and Kyle seemed to always go above and beyond in any situation. A DC animated movie centered around Kyle would be what I would want

Hell yeah Marz run is super fun. Then can jump right into Circle of Fire then into Winnicks run.
Great video. Love seeing Kyle getting the spotlight. Will have to read Winick's stuff

Agreed and great choices. Those are all some of my favorites.
Kyle Rayner is the best green lantern ever seen! ❤❤❤
Kyle Rayner is my favorite Green Lantern too, he is the most original
thank you so much for making this video! it was incredible!
Oh wow thanks for the kind words 😄
Kyle Rayner is my favorite most Green Lantern ever. What I really like about him is his artistic side for him to create his creative constructs
Same!
Kyle Rayner is my favorite green lantern
The best+
Even though I never read Kyle Rayner comics I heard of him and thought he was cool
Totally agree, Hal has seniority but I'm really sick of him at this point. Just leave him a villain and be done with it.
In those first 20 seconds i was already like: i believe every word that man just said because it's exactly what i wanted to hear"
Hahaha I'm glad!

Hal Jordan

Kyle has always been my favorite, my daughter's middle name is Rayner after Kyle

💚👍Kyle !!!! Barnone.
The best!
more kyle
Always more Kyle!
How did you feel that the Justice League cartoon chose John Stewart instead of Kyle Rayner, who was already established in the 90s Superman series ?
Made sense. Really easy to pick any Green Lantern for a team. But I do love Kyle and hope to see more of him in the future.
Agreed
Hal Jordan is the best GL. The only reason people think Kyle is great is because all the awesome Parallax Hal Jordan stuff in it. Kyle had mostly forgetable villians . Hals sporadic appearances in GL saved and prolonged the legacy of Kyle Rayner

Pretty sure Wally West is ranked first in your top 5.
Wally is very much up there. I will admit I still have to finish reading Waid's run before I really can place him in the top 3 but def top 5!
