The reason Subaru is all messed up it's cuz he went into the trial area to write notes to Emeliavwhere he no longer has access to without forcing his way in and getting injured in the process. Also both Ram and Otto got nosebleeds from overusing their divine protection abilities.
It's not made clear in the anime but Divine Protections aren't powers related to the Witches. It's just like a gifted power you receive randomly, and there's many people possessing one. for exemple in season 1 Felt (the little girl who ended up being the 5th candidate for the Royal Selection) uses the Dive Protection of wind to fight Elsa. So Otto isn't a one-of-a-kind person in that regard.
The villagers called her a Frozen Witch in the OVA that came out after the 1st season, with the help of Subaru's support, she stopped being afraid of this name-calling.
The thing that gets me with otto is that it represents the mutable nature of humans, yes, he threw subaru off the carrige in that reality, but he didnt knew him and it was a desperate moment, but that doesnt mean hes bad, he is just human
guys, the shadow hand is the same unseen hand power Petelgeuse had Subaru untintentionally took this sloth witch factor from him when he killed him It´s not Satella moving the hand also his magic gate broke while fighting Garfil, he will never be able to use his shadow magic again (on his own at least)
Emilia felt really defeated there because to her, promises are very important thing to keep. Both Puck and Subaru broke theirs, and those 2 are the closest people to her right now so it really crushed her trust towards them. Good thing Subaru ensures her he did it for the better with solid actions and words. Also i think the EN dub kinda feels underwhelming in the kissing scene. I feel like it didnt deliver Emilia's frustration and Subaru's annoyed yet reassuring words enough.

Satella can't be Emilias mother. They are both half elves, meaning Emilias parents have to be a full human and a full elf. How exactly they are connected has not been made clear to my knowledge. But satellas authority is return by death, meaning she could have met Subaru in a now deleted timeline that only she remembers. You both even commented on how Subaru sounded like satella when he was telling Emilia how much he loved her. From emilias perspective they have not know each other very long, but from Subarus and our perspective we know much more about who she is. There could be a similar situation between Subaru and satella.
The white and purple cat is supposed to represent Emilia and also Otto's first love, the black cat is supposed to represent Subaru and Otto's romantic rival.
