    Simon - you are right about the two-stage pump. The important bit on the instructions (for my boat) is to inflate each chamber to 50%, then take all to full inflation. This reduces stress between adjacent inflated and deflated chambers. How-to stuff would be great? We should always be learning.

    Hope you plan to get some boat shade covers and some portable led running lights. When left in the sun, that black surface will get hot to touch. Covers will also give some UV protection and extend the tender's useful life.
    Simon may want to add a tiller extender pipe. Then sit and steer further forward. Use hand rails or a bow rope for stability.

    @V8guy3500 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    You may find as a tender it’s heavy and cumbersome,you can’t tow a dinghy all the time as it’s weather dependent as you’ll find.
    You need to be able to pull aboard the boat and secure for rougher passages.
    If you can pull it up on to the swim platform and secure there then it’s all good.

    A great addition to the fleet! However, you see few if any black (law enforcement excluded😅) Ribs with cruisers. I wonder what the vendor says about: 1) U/V damage/protection? Many silver/grey Ribs use cloth covers. 2) Sun-induced pressure increase? I assume there is a pressure release valve? 3) Skin burns? When you get to the Med/Caribbean and combine bathing suits with 40*C and smokin' black "rubber", OUCH! Manufacturer must have touched on these questions?

    Really like your vids, happy and cheerful. On a point of safety, the RYA recommend the kill cord goes around your upper leg, if you do go overboard the kill cord pulls out sooner than if it's on your wrist, thus less of your body is in the water or near the propeller (meat grinder) when you go overboard. Stay safe and enjoy.

    Looks great, love all the accessories. Those seats look like the ones that have a tendancy to move/slide especially under a bit of power in some slop. Easy fix by getting a few tarp clamps to hold them in place if you do find them a problem. Think you need a 9.9 or 15 on the back, Simon wouldnt say no ;-)

    I really like it! I have been looking for an inflatable boat that is firs and foremost, safe and stable and secondarily, looks good. I really like the rear roll bar. Not only does it make it look good, it also helps to make the boat more visible to others (especially with a flag on top) and gives a sense of security - as strange as that may sound. The only thing that I want to know and will research after this, is whether it can be used with a 2hp engine. The reason for that is that here in Japan, the only engine that can be used without getting a boat licence is a 2hp engine. Yes, it is underwhelming and certainly not for those who want to enjoy speed, but I would only want to use the boat on calm lakes anyway and enjoy the view from the water so as long as 2hp can move it safely and relatively easily, it would be enough for me. Getting a class 2 boat licence here in Japan is expensive as everything tends to be in over-regulated Japan.

    • @andrewjones-productions

      I forgot....YES PLEASE do a series on the basics which are also the skills and tasks that one would need to do every time. The mundane stuff I suppose - but vital and important. Things that experienced boaters do second-nature without much thought is one way of putting it perhaps.

It would plane a lot better, you can see when Simon is one up, its struggling a bit to pop up on the plane. If you plan on using it inland check if you need a license, i know on the river dee you can get an annual or day license on the Cheshire council website, you may not need one depending on the size of your engine, you can put it into the sea without needing anything, unless you use council slipways, or look at joining a local club. We are members of Prestatyn sailing club, they have a clubhouse with great facilities, so if you’re looking for a good boating community you can’t go wrong there! You don’t need a license to drive a boat, but you need to check if you need a permit to launch were every your launching from, like if your launching from a council slipway. And just try and keep yourself as safe as possible, wear a life jacket and have a way of communicating with emergency services if you have a problem at sea! Don’t forget we have a discount code for boat world so if you are to buy from them you will get a discount! The code is shiphappensuk

    • @ShipHappensAdventures
      @ShipHappensAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't need any qualifications to drive a boat up to 21meters in the uk, but I would highly recommend you at least go and do your powerboat level 2. And take out insurance, the water is a dangerous place, so always think safety, life jackets are a must, you would need to do a VHF course to be able to use the radio, carry flares, fire extinguisher and so on!

    Hi I bought the pump from boat world and it arrived today, however the plastic earth pin had been cut off the 12 volt charger so it won’t plug in as you need the wart pin to open the live and neutral sockets. Looking at it the charger won’t fit in its position in the case if the earth pin was there. I can only assume it was designed to hold an American style 2pin plug and they have cut off the earth pin to make it fit but this makes it useless! Was yours the same or is mine just an anomaly?

    Thanks for the videos guys, I love your enthusiasm and sense of humour.
    The tender looks great!
    If you get (or make for yourselves) a tiller extension for single handed use it will allow the pilot to sit on the front thwart and the dinghy will plane more smoothly. Especially if you go for a bigger outboard.
    If she runs flatter, she will be both quicker along the water and less likely to flip over backwards at speed. That can be quite exciting, but it does rather spoil the ride! Especially if the engine gets wet and you need to row home once you have turned her right way up again!
    Great addition to Butari. Then you’ll need a tender for Sarinder!
    More scope for fun and games.
