  • I do not suggest anyone doing this. I just wanted to show that I was seriously doing this for some time. It was something I heard of and decided to try years ago.

    atf is a solvent oil so it will clean and lube your fuel system. the extra heat it makes when it burns will clean the motors upper valves and cylinders. removing carbon deposits. if your upper is lubed like the lower end is it will work easier and make more power and lest friction or resistance. ===better gas mileage

    I have done this faithfully in several vehicles over several years time.
    30 years ago, I started doing this with Murphy's Top Cylinder Lubricant, when it started getting hard to find I switched to Marvel Mystery Oil, and when one of my friends was working for a courier service and he found out from their mechanics they used ATF because of how clean it kept their motors, how many more miles they could put on their motors and how much money they saved in gasoline, I switched to ATF and I've been using it every since.
    I log my fuel mileage every time I fill up and I assure you, one can tell when they fill up without putting ATF in their tank. They suffer from loss of power, motor noise and poor fuel mileage. The only time I don't put ATF in one of my vehicles is when I run out, and even then I purchase more ASAP.
    Sincerely, One Who Knows What He Is Talking About

      ddd228 if you don't circulate atf @ operating temp then there is no benafit. it won't do it's purpose to clear buildup. never add 2L @ full oil level. if owner just topped oil level i will pull oil filter dump whats in it then re install filter add 1L an run vehicle to op-temp for an hour but not idling for an hour. you want as much circulation as possible while it's hot. been doing it my way for decades an not had an issue.

      ATF has so much more solvency than cranckcase lube, that it doesn't need any detergents. AFT as shown has about 25% average of ot volume of naphtenic mineral base as opposed to pure parafinic mineral base in cranckcase oil. By the way parafinic base has little solvency power, than it needs detergents in there. Same occurs with Esters, it also has a very powerfull solvency power that came from its polarity, hence, needing much less detergents that groups I, iI, III and IV bases oils. Group I & II are mineral, groups III and IV are synthetics (Polyalphaolefins) group V are esters and all the rest. So, next time you jump to expel "info", do it in a complete manner, please, or people WILL get confuse. Let's spread good info.

    I once won a bet that I could run my car on water. This was 30 years ago. My car had a gas tank installed vertically, behind the right rear fender. The gas intake tube was mounted on a float so it would always get the gas from the top of the tank. The car was designed this way at the factory to run better if gasoline was contaminated. Not everyone knew this.
    I told some guys I ran my car on water. Obviously, they did not believe me. I told them to bring a gallon of water and I would put it in my gas tank and drive the car around the block. So we made bet and I won. LOL. We drove the car for several miles with no issues. I got my money from them, drove the car back to my garage, opened the drain plug and drained the water from the gas tank.
    For those who did not catch why it worked. I had at least 5 gallons of gasoline in the tank when we put the water in. Water is heavier than gasoline and it immediately settled on the bottom of the tank. Since the tank was installed in the vertical position and the gas intake tube was mounted on a floating arm, it sucked gasoline from the top of the tank and the engine ran just fine.

    Adding ATF (which uses the same base as motor oil) to your gas does increase the BTU content of the fuel, and so *theoretically* could produce more power. However, 4 cycle engines just aren't designed to run on a gas-oil mix. All you're doing is decreasing the octane of the gas, and creating more soot throughout your engine and exhaust system due to the heavy hydrocarbons that it isn't able to completely burn.

    • @brotang2953
      @brotang2953 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Louis Laszlo you mean increasing. higher octane doesn't mean more explosive or flammable its to do with knock resistance or " pre ignition " by adding oil makes it more knock resistant so actually a higher octane rating. also if it doesn't burn properly it will not create carbon as that only happens after its burnt. you in reality end up with unburnt oil full of detergents encompassing all you valves not carbon

      Not true
      Only thing that changed is fuel injection vs carburetors...
      Internal combustion engines all use the same principals...
      The ATF is used as a cleaner, to remove varnish and buildup.
      It will NOT hurt the motor

    Some people are funny Without understanding the science, they comment, or watch videos like this. Yet, they get their radiator flushed, transmission flushed, etc. it's called drain and fill, and that is all you need. Also, people never drain and fill their brake fluid, but instead will leave it in there forever. When you get new pads, have the mechanic bleed out the old fluid, and replace with new. You can verify they did this because the bleeder bolt on each caliper should be wet around or inside the hole with fluid. Also need master cylinder after 6 years.

    I put a little in my newer car now and then on a full tank. I use half a bottle in my diesel every other full tank, really only recommend for a diesel. My diesel is straight pipe but it really isn't good for the catalyst converter(s) I heard.

    you know if you use the old school non-synthetic Burns better and probably cleans better I use it to clean my injectors on my 7.3 diesel just poured in the top of the filter and my truck will run for 2 minutes on that by itself

      They both work really good but you have to use them more often than transmission fluid. Transmission fluid is more aggressive so its better to stick with mmo or lucas. Seafoam works great to

      Filiberto Barrera Marvel Mystery Oil in the gas is good. I personally add Marine outboard motor oil with a TCW3 rate at 1oz per 5 gallons of gas. Works to clean and lube the system better and cheaper. You can Google. Been Testing Oil and read the testing. Sarge and team have done the homework for us.

    Fill my push mower up put two capfuls of transmission fluid in it doesn't bog nearly as bad when mowing High Grass. I haven't put a compression tester to it yet but by pulling yet I definitely noticed it has a lot more compression. My dad taught me this old trick. And you think that it would smoke out the tailpipe but it actually Burns pretty clean.

      I've done this when an internal fuel pump was on it's way out. It works very well. I bought an explorer once advertised with a bad fuel pump, gave them cash, then I kicked the gas tank a couple times, and drove it home. I waved as I drove past them. Once in a while it would stick, so a shot of two cycle oil worked great. It eventually shit on me. If your fuel pump seems dead, this will get you home, usually.

  • @urtjytjtuty
    @urtjytjtuty 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    What does it do?

    • @RomanAutomotive
      @RomanAutomotive  10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Most people use cheaper gas, cheaper gas burns easier, causing excessive build up and possibly pre-detonation. It lubricates the fuel pump and everything else in the fuel system. I ran cheap gas for thousand of miles, then checked spark plugs, they had a lot of build up. I did the same using atf, and the spark plugs almost looked brand new. Also if you understand how engines work, upper engine lubrication helps with compression causing better fuel economy. Do a compression test with no oil, then do it with a small amount of oil, the compression will usually increase. If compression increases, fuel economy will increase.

    That little bit wont do nothing to help or hurt your engine. I just uploaded a video where I put a large 32 ounce bottle of brake fluid in my 2001 Deville. The tank was 80% full and i didn’t get a cel.
